I was a regular at the capitale, until tonight. So prior to arriving at the club at 10:30pm on new years eve I checked the online site to check for pricing at the door and table options, which at 10:00pm on new years eve states a $ 99 dollar at the door pricing. When we arrived after valet parking we were told by the bouncer that it was $ 150 a person, when I took my phone out and showed him the pricing posted on their official site it states that it was still $ 99 dollars a person, he aggressively told me $ 150 is what the price is, and I should have bought the tickets a week ago when it was $ 49 dollars. Long story short, I’ve been going here for months, and I can tolerate their horrible way of marketting their tables, but this is completely unprofessional. Hint to management selling is an art, you can only create a demand if there is low supply, telling me that all tables are sold out at 10pm when the club is empty, then reapproaching me later to offer me another table at the premium price won’t serve you well in the long run.

Man this place is weak as shit, bottle girls half naked for a $ 5 tip, might as well get your money’s worth somewhere else. I’m happy I didn’t waste money here.

Heinous and terrible experience. I was here for a networking/recruiting event as the staff was so unbelievably rude. It might be fine as a club, but I would under no circumstance recommend holding a professional event here.

Came here on a Saturday night with some girlfriends for a mini-bachelorette party. We initially went at about 7p. m for a «Male Revue» show, and then returned at about 11:30 for the club. The drinks were great, well made, a bit overpriced. The bartenders were very friendly. The décor was unique and provided a cool atmosphere. The show part was a disaster. Poorly planned out, the had VIP folding chairs in a U-shape around a small section of the bar which created the«stage». Everything else was standing room, which was the hot mess express, visibility was next to none and the bouncers were total buttheads, shoving people and demanding there be a large aisle right through the only space for standees to stand and see. There’s no requirement for an aisle when in club mode, why now?! They also had VIP couches, but they were low, lounge style and situated behind the standees, meaning those people paid a ton of money to see didly squat. As for the club part, meh. The fact that there was next to no line when we returned probably should have been our clue. The bartenders and drinks remained awesome, but the atmosphere still sucked. They had two female DJ’s and one male DJ who looked like he was still in middle school. None of them knew what they were doing, it was so awful. You couldn’t even pretend to dance to the crap they were spinning out. The end result was a lot of people just standing around yelling at each other. After holding for an hour or so hoping the music would get better we gave up hope and moved on. The sweetheart bartenders and good drinks are the only saving grace of this place.

I had a private event at this establishment and it went smoothly. There was amble seating and it was a lounge setting so there are couches and chairs everywhere. The space was large enough for definitely 100 people. The drinks were good and were not stingy. I had an awesome bartender that kept track of me and updated me on things when they occurred: So, shout out to Mustafa(?). He gets a 5⁄5 for service. They allowed us to order pizza for the crowd and it kept people coming for more drinks so it was a win-win situation. The only downside was that it was a bit hard to find. The outside signs say K Street Lounge, but all the guests were looking for Capitale. The name appears in black on black on the main entrance, but that is really difficult to see. Although the address is 1301K, it is actually in the middle of the block. 1301K East is the entrance to an office building.

Very nice venue. The outdoor seating area is blocked by scaffolding, but the people make up for the lack of atmosphere. I went on a Friday night for a Welcoming Committee event. The drinks were pretty good with a fairly heavy poor.

I have not attended a function at the Capitale, but attempted to reserve the venue for a family reunion. I communicated with Matt until I decided to book the event. He became very callous and evasive until I was able to catch him via a phone call and learned that the date we wish to booked had been reserve for someone else by his” management”. He stated that he might be able to place my party at comparable location. Yet, after my review of the new location, it was clear that the it was in no way comparable in anyway and they wanted to charge me the same price. The customer service and follow-up was awful. I was outraged and have vowed not to do business with this establishment again.

Electric Jungle Saturdays is the name of the event that happens every Saturday. If there are friends that come visit me from town and are into EDM, I either take em’ here or Echostage. The place is sort of empty before midnight but once it get pass midnight, this place starts popping. The drinks are a little expensive but I didn’t expect anything less from a club in downtown DC. It’s about $ 10 a mixed drink on average from what I remembered. But I always end up having a good time at a table or on the dance floor. The club is pretty big but most of the area is roped off for bottle service. The dance floor seem to get smaller and smaller as the night go on. The staff here is difficult to deal with. One day my friends got invited to drink at a table. All of a sudden after like 30 minutes at a table, a bouncer came up to us and were like«is this your table?». Like what… the people at the table didn’t have a problem of us being at the table, what makes you think there’s a problem now when you come and ask if there’s a problem. Some of my friends got kicked out cause we weren’t trying to hear all of that from the bouncer and alcohol was involved. Toward the end of the night I usually head outside toward the patio area and bum a cig from a random stranger. The patio area is probably more spacious than the dance floor. It’s open and there are sectional seating everywhere. It’s a good place to have a conversation with your group or try to wrap whatever you’re trying to do. It’s smack in the middle of the city so you can easily metro here but most of the time people are tryna stunt and roll up in their nice rides in front the club. Anyhow, it’s worth a visit if you’re rolling solo or with a group. Nice vibes from people but the staff is no good.

Came here to have some drinks to celebrate a friend’s 31st birthday after already having a few Moscow mules at Founding Farmers. For a club I wasn’t impressed. When we first got here it was already late, and very empty. The emptiness didn’t bother me, but it was very telling. When we got their the bouncer was talking to a girl, I think in Russian, and they looked at us like we were bothering them. After some awkward standing around trying to figure what was going on, he asked for IDs, which led us to the beginning of the night. The place was pretty empty initially, but as the night progressed people started to trickle in around midnight. It seemed like the place was well staffed, and we had no problems getting drinks and the bartender was attentive to our needs. The reason why this place won’t get any more stars from me is because for 6 drinks I ended up paying $ 75! I got two long islands, which was standard liquor, nothing fancy, and some Jameson on the rocks. Maybe it’s been a while, or maybe it’s because it was in DC, either way, that’s pretty high end, and it didn’t feel like we were in a high end bar/club. House music was on tap, overall this place was nice.

The decoration is unique with two facial pictures on each side of the wall, and the music is good, but it seems like a place where people lose things. Friends lost there phones at the same night, and i saw a wallet on the chair but someone got back for it afterwards. I probably wouldn’t go there with the risk of losing of my things.

Unique décor and layout — Capitale is best described as Hollywood meets Hogwarts. There are four massive bronze columns, two fireplaces, ornate chandeliers, floor-to-ceiling bookshelves with books, raised platforms with poles, and a DJ booth that is front and center. I was here for a private holiday party, and I had a great time here.

This club was once known as k street. Capitale remodeled their club and transformed it into a library. The décor is interesting in the sense that it is very unique and different than what you would find in a dc club. They have great table service. It can get really crowed some nights and some nights it can be pretty empty. When it is a crazy night, I usually get pushed around because I am such a small gal. Great DJs & fun vibes.

Always end up here against my own but it’s not necessarily a bad thing. Music will get you dancing and the drinks may keep you dancing. The roped off area outside is nice when you want a breather from inside, just as long as you’re ok with the cigarette smoke. The place is spacious to gather for some drinks and dancing with friends but don’t expect to have many conversations here. One odd thing though; capitale gave out white trucker hats and then at the end of the night, doormen/bartenders pulled them off our heads. Uhm… not very sanitary. They said they were going to «reuse them for the next party»… I don’t know. Very strange.

I like the staff and the style but after several tries they still fail to get the energy going. Always a dull atmosphere that requires a quick rally to over come. I suspect they suffer similarly as opera does by trying to compete with the trendy esteem of the park… But sort of just make things worse by trying too hard to make it classy

I came here for a friends birthday and we decided to get a table. i didn’t like the fact that they wanted to hold onto my ID and credit card. I understand its for security purposes. they make you sign an agreement too. It ended up being 2 bottles of belvedere and 1 bottle of champagne for $ 650($ 5003 bottles, $ 100 tip, $ 50 tax). It’s not a bad deal if you like vodka. I personally would have liked a brown bottle but it’s $ 50/up charge per bottle. Definitely was crowded and jammed pack which is nice to see a lot of faces. At one point in the night it was someone birthday so they had a star wars themed presentation which was whatever. At the end of the night it came time to pay the bill. I got my credit card back and I paid the $ 650. I never got my ID back. Which is pretty annoying, frustrating and so forth. I had to go to the MVA on monday to get a new ID and it costs another $ 20 for someone elses mistake… I will opt out of buying tables here from now on, it’s just not worth the hassle.

If you love Asians, come here! Capitale is a much more crowded version of the Park. Came here last evening for a friend’s event party and it was literally impossible to move through the crowds here. We were able to snag a corner by the entrance so we could have some breathing room. We ended up leaving about 45 minutes into the night. $ 9 for a beer $ 14 for a Bulliet Yeah. Crowds are exactly the same as you find at the Park or any other K street club. I guess I’m getting too old for these places because none of us had a good time other than seeing some old faces. And is it just me, or are DC clubs almost identical now? Our group ended up leaving to head to 14th st. I suggest you do the same.

Am I really too old for this? I used to find coming to a club an appealing weekend activity and generally looked forward to the idea of getting table service. Maybe it’s just that I’ve been too tired lately… maybe it’s because I ate a GIANT meal before the club… or maybe I’ve just gotten the club scene out of my system… but whatever the reason, I really just found my experience at Capitale to be «blah». Don’t get me wrong, there were definitely tons of other people having fun. But when that fun metaphorically spills over into the actual spillage of drinks on my gf or myself, then I find it annoying. Granted, this is a club and that type of situation is unavoidable, so excuse my curmudgeon-ness. But beyond my own mood, I felt like Capitale is an improvement on the formerly drab K St Lounge. While I won’t put this on the upper echelon of clubs, you can’t really do too much better in DC. I guess if I ever do pull my club-going self out from the crypt it’s currently buried in, Capitale is as viable an option as any to make the reintroduction.

I came clubbing here on a Saturday evening for a birthday. A friend and I arrived early and tried to get in first, but we stood in a line that didn’t move for about an hour to no avail. Luckily the rest of the group showed up and got us all in… how anyone gets in, I do not know. My experience inside was decent though, although because the clubbing scene is pretty foreign to me, I don’t have much of a basis for comparison. It’s a rather young crowd, the music selection was decent, they were quick to clean up messes/spills, and the restroom was clean considering how many people must puke in the toilets every weekend.

Came here on a Friday for a party sponsored by DC Kickball, and hung around afterwards. Won’t be back The good: –The bartenders were friendly and generous(at least the attractive one that I kept going back to was). The event I was at was $ 15 for 2 hours of open bar, and they worked quickly and served drinks with decent quality and quantity of liquor. Thumbs up. –For a club/lounge it’s probably not the most pretentious. No cover. The bad: –They had TVs playing some sort of random montage… and they refused to put an NBA playoff game on one of them. The Knicks would have won if I were able to watch –My friends requested some music, and the DJ refused each time, getting increasingly annoyed and short with them. Anyone who denies us a chance at «The Wobble» is not a friend of mine. –At 11 or so, they made everyone move away from the outsides of the bar, and set it up for people to buy tables. Despite closing a huge section of the area, about 10 tables, nobody came in for the rest of the night to purchase one. However, the bouncers still acted as if anybody who used the edge of the room to move around the crowded dance floor was committing a capital(e) offense. Other notes: –The atmosphere is STRANGE. This antique-y theme, with fake old books lining the walls and huge, tilted columns isn’t like anything I’ve seen before. –It is pronounced«Cap-EE-Tall»…not«capital E»

This places deserves ZERO stars for service alone. Don’t EVER get a table here — I was promised $ 400 +tip($ 500) next to the DJ, the table I was given was in between 2 tables and then they charged me $ 650. When I reached out to the promoter, I got nothing. When I emailed them and asked for a copy of the receipt, nothing. I’m working with my bank to get this off my card. It’s still K Street lounge with a different name. The interior is nice but the level of service is poor/not non-existent. It’s not catered to a specific crowd but I think it’s more for 25 and unders; dress code seems really loose.
