Caribbean Crescent is an excellent halal meat store that has very reasonably priced food items. It is open Monday thru Saturday and closed on Sunday. Their selection of meat is always fresh. Whenever I cook the meat that I buy from Caribbean Crescent, it is tender, juicy and delicious and that is the reason why I can give a «Big Shout Out» to Caribbean Crescent for being one of the very best halal meat stores in the DMV!!!

This is the best place to get halal meat in DC. It’s only open to public on Saturdays until 3 pm. I recommend writing out a list of all the meat items you want(i.e. 2lbs ground beef, 5 pounds chicken breast, etc.) beforehand since you’ll have to give a list to the butcher. It can be a cluster*uck at the butcher’s window with folks trying to write out their orders, so being prepared saves a lot of time.

I had heard about the Florida Avenue traders from several sources and finally made my way over there a few months ago. I wandered in here a few months after seeing the Halal sign over the door, and have been going back twice a month ever since! The owner and butchers recognize me now and they’re always nice and friendly. I prefer to buy halal meat, and the meat here is fresh and so much cheaper than what I pay in big name grocery stores. It’s worth the 25-minute drive. Plus, I trust the meat here more. The chicken pieces aren’t scary big here, and the meats just taste better. Walk in to the back window, write down what meats you want on a piece of paper, hand it over, and they’ll bring it out to you when they’re done. While you’re waiting, browse their great selection of Indian and Caribbean products. I get my spices and chutneys and such from here too. I’m really glad I found this place.

This place is awesome. Great for Middle Eastern and South Asian ingredients. Lots of daal, spices, spice mixes, cool freezer case. Small place with a lot of stuff. I got a big jar of tahini for $ 3.50. If you like to cook Middle Eastern or Indian food it’s a great place to buy cheap stuff. Can’t comment on the Carribean items as I don’t know what most of them are but I’m guessing it’s some people’s nirvana in that respect. Will go again.

This place is great and the place to go for halal food in the district. So glad to stumble across this place. The entire DC Farmers market is an interesting area. Alot of hidden gems in that area. Bottom line, 10lbs of fresh, boneless, skinless chicken for $ 20? Try to find that anywhere, I mean anywhere.

Caribbean Crescent is located in the downtown«wholesale» district in Northeast across from the«DC Farmers market». It is open Monday-Saturday but their meat department closes around 3pm on weekdays so arrive early. Its near the NY ave Metro and close to bus lines but its best to drive. They have a selection of jamaican and south asian spices and halal meat along with fish. They also have some great frozen foods like sliced deli meat, gyro slices, and more! They sell wholesale to a lot of other markets and restaurants.

This business is a hidden gem in DC! Super convenient because it’s located in DC and is metro and bus accessible, and I no longer have to go out to the suburbs for fresh halal meat. The prices are extremely reasonable and cheaper than popular establishments in the DC metro area. You will NOT be disappointed! Just make sure(if you’re not a wholesale distributor) to go here on Saturdays — that’s the only day it’s open to the public. I ordered around 16 lbs of meat on the spot, and it was freshly packed for me in under 20 – 25 minutes. ALSO — you can get all of your South Asian groceries from here!
