Really bad experience tonight! I ordered delivery from Chix 11th street location, and the order was an hour late. Also, when the manager told me to email him so that he could give a discount, the email kicked back and wouldn’t go through. When the order did arrive the delivery boy asked if he could buy my bike, seconds after I opened the door! So weird! And then when I opened my order, it was wrong. Bad experience. :( Follow up: The owner of Chix contacted me with a full refund of my order, and a gift card as an apology. Appreciated the prompt reply and kind response!

Not entirely sure how they can call this Latin American food. It tasted like canned corn and overcooked, boiled chicken. Incredibly boring and I’m very sad to have paid for it! Do yourself a favor and go to one of the hole-in-the-wall Latin American places nearby.

This was my go-to for delivery(I moved. Now it’s only Indian or Thai). Chix is the perfect option for healthy eating if, like me, you find yourself unable to coordinate a trip to the grocery store with actual food preparation. The chicken is tender and the sides are available in varying levels of healthy. I put the avocado dressing on everything. Delivery is always quick.

Having a lazy Sunday? well me too. So i decided to order in but here in the city the possibilities are endless which can be both a blessing and a curse. Within a few clicks i landed on Chix and i’m surprisingly pleased. I ordered the chix ¼ chicken with 3 sides and the lemon sauce on the side. DIdn’t care for the sweet potatoes to be honest and the green beans with basmati rice were good but the chicken was the real star. It was so juicy and flavorful while still having that nice crispy skin. Even if you just ate the chicken by itself, you would still be happy. Delivery was through Eat24… which had me nervous at first but i got my order in under 30 min and it was still hot. With tax and delivery tip included, my meal came to under 20 $ which i think is a great deal. My only little gripe is that they stapled my bag way too many times which was not fun to open(i have the cut to prove it) Other than that Im sure if i were to visit one of their locations the review would be 5 stars all the way!!!

So my problem wasn’t with the quality of food or speed of delivery, but that they forgot the chicken in my chicken salad. So there’s that. EDIT: Chix reached out to me and sent me a gift card to make up for the error. Excellent customer service and good chicken. Would return again.

This is my favorite place to get delivery to the Howard campus when studying. They are fairly priced and really quick with delivery, which I love. The meals are healthy but very filling. The chicken is tender and seasoned well. The avocado dressing is light but flavorful enough to enhance a salad.

Ordered the ¼ chicken with Lemon dressing, beans & rice, & salad with Lemon dressing. Chicken was so tasty, wish I would’ve ordered larger size! Rice & beans were nice combo side. Lemon dressing for salad was a little strong. Overall great dinner combo at reasonable price. Healthy menu choices available.

I always wanted food poisoning on Labor Day weekend… Ate nothing controversial all day yesterday until dinner, when I ordered the chop Caribbean chicken curry from chix’s 11th street location. Several hours later, I got very ill and spent the entire night throwing up and shivering. I feel like I’ve been infected with Ebola. Looks like it’s time for the health department to check it out. In the mean time, steer clear.

This is where you go when you want a quick and cheap bite to eat! Food — Love the Colombian chicken(marinated in colombian coffee & organic coconut milk)! The wraps look good too. However, a bit iffy with their sides and chop house bowls. Their noodles & cheese left something to be desired while the chop house bowl had an unappetizing ratio of chicken to rice. Space — Small eating area outside, a few stools on the first floor, and a fair sized space on the second floor. It’s not big but anytime I walk by there has never not been seating. Service — Friendly staff, but not as on point as they should have been considering we were two of very few customers they had on Friday night. My friend got his tortilla while he was almost done with his chop bowl(we were too hungry to say anything earlier). If you want to save money and get a quick bite on U Street, this is definitely not a bad option. Please note there is also a Greek spot next door as well if that suits your fancy, as well as U&pizza right by the metro for cheap eats.

After reading the reviews for Chix, I was excited to stop by over the weekend and see what all the fuss was about. The walk to the restaurant revealed a neighborhood bustling with pedestrian activity, historic architecture, and what seems to be a vibrant restaurant/nightlife scene. However, the food was just OK. The chicken was not that flavorful without the sauce, and both the rice and black beans I had on the side could have used some more seasoning. I also wished I could have snared an outdoor seat, as sitting upstairs seemed a bit dreary and bland. On the upside, the food came out quickly, and they have a huge menu to choose from.

Solid chicken, and a good change of pace from the normal food that I get when I go out. The chicken was moist and well cooked, just not as flavorful as I remembered. The corn medley is okay, but I probably wouldn’t get it again. The sweet potatoes were very good. I asked for the avocado sauce with the spicy sauce, but only got the spicy sauce. Overall not bad, and maybe caught them on an off day. Just not anything to write home about either. I will probably go back, if for no other reason that Chix’s proximity to my apartment.

I really, really wanted to like this place since the reviews are great and because they are so conveniently located throughout the city. Unfortunately, neither the food nor the service were up to par :( I ordered ¼ chicken with brown rice and beans. The chicken was bland– nothing like the Peruvian flavor they advertise and I happen to enjoy so much, not even close to being well seasoned. The rice and beans were on the cold side and did not have any flavor either. Hoping to have a «natural» juice, I asked the waiter about the flavors they offer and he didn’t seem to know so I ventured for a random one and I could have done without that as well. Overall, an underwhelming experience and restaurant that I wouldn’t go out of my way for.

This is a great spot to hit up for before a show at the 9:30 club. Relatively quick(about 10 wait after ordering) and a quick walk over to the 9:30 club. I had the whole chicken, chix style, with three sides with some friends. The chicken isn’t the biggest size but the it is cooked properly and the meats falls off the bone. The seasoning is good and it comes with a variety of different sides. The sides are excellent unlike most Peruvian chicken places. I had the rice and beans, green beans, and cheese and noodles which kind of their modified version of mac and cheese. All of them were excellent. The whole meal is $ 22 which is a pretty good price to feed three people.

Yummy chicken on a budget. I love the Colombian chicken because it’s so flavorful although nothing about it is really Colombian. If I lived in this neighborhood, I would get this delivered!

I was actually gunning for the Greek Spot next door, but did not know that it closes on a Sunday night, and Chix is right next door. there is seating upstairs but it was full and there is a few table outside, in the summer is great, but in the winter… The menu has many Latin American version of chicken, I opted for a light Chicken & Rice Soup(Large size), but it was not really large, it is a bowl. It was tasty, with a bit of cilantro, sweet corn and yellow bell pepper and white rice, there is a kick of spice in it, and it was what I needed, as I got a cold an a stuffy nose. My eating companion had a chicken salad and it was tasty. Once again the size tends to be a bit on the small side, but if I want a chicken salad or a soup and I want it quick and especially on a Sunday night, I will not hesitate to go back.

I can’t believe it — I finally found a chicken place better than my go-to favorite in Arlington. Not in Latin America like I expected to, but rather right off U street at Chix. It’s a small venue — with only seating for about twenty people on the second floor. No worries though — Chix is the perfect food to take to go or order over the phone. The menu has a lot of options — all of which sound delicious. My fellow foodie and I chose to split a whole Colombian chicken(rubbed with coffee and coconut milk) which came with a choice of three sides and two sauces. The chicken itself was amazing — tender, flavorful, and not overly seasoned. Incredibly juicy — especially the dark meat areas. I’m amazed to admit it — but I think this replaces my all time staple as the best rotisserie chicken. Our sides were huge — the rice and beans took up half the takeout box, we had a heaping mound of sweet potato cubes, and the chickpeas came in a container of their own. All were surprisingly healthy(I’ve had some very oily sides at other chicken places) and tasty as well. Only one thing I would change — the sauces were mediocre. The red pepper sauce was okay and the coconut curry was an odd mix that was a tad too sweet and a little sour. Next time, will have to try the spicy fresh and avocado. Yes, that’s right. There will be a next time soon.

This chicken house was definitely worth the trip! I ordered their Cuban bowl and got a bowl large enough for 2 dinners. It consisted of chicken, chopped peppers(though I wish they weren’t chopped so tiny), corn, black beans, and a red chili sauce. The flavors were solid– but nothing super fancy, still delicious. My friend ordered the Peruvian chicken and it tasted pretty darn good. The skin was cooked just right — juicy and crunchy. She got a side of beans/rice and chickpea salad. The chickpea salad was so simple, but just the right type of clean, fresh flavor you want complementing the heaviness of a flavorful chicken and hearty beans.

Chix is a small restaurant in U Street in a beautiful little building just off the main U Street stretch. It’s basically fast food, but it’s good fast food. We tried the half Peruvian chicken with sides of noodles/cheese and black beans. It was all good, pretty well seasoned and tender. Look, it’s not earth shattering, I wouldn’t travel across town for it, but if you’re in the area looking for something quick and cheap, this is where I would recommend going. They also offer $ 4 flying dog bottles. Nothing wrong with that. And if you want water, they give you a big ol’ jug. Nice touch.
