Horrible service. I arrived after a long day at the zoo with 3 friends. 20 min wait for anyone to even bring us water. Another 15 minutes to take our order because there was only 1 waitress. After waiting another 30 minutes to receive our food, 3 of the orders were wrong. I asked for the mgr and he refused to come to the table. As a result, we walked across the street to chipotle. Most UNPLEASANT service EVER.

Your average DC sports bar with few surprises and decent prices. Don’t have high expectations, but it’s consistent, has a ton of TV’s and a rooftop great for summer drinking. The wings were great!

My boyfriend did not lie when he promised the nachos would be some of the best I have ever had! They were delicious!!! Loaded with chunks of chicken, jalapeño slices, guacamole, delicious salsa and gooey cheddar cheese. It was a huge serving. The cheese was a sauce, similar to queso. We also ordered the chicken wings, the homemade sauce was quite good. Not too spicy. It was complemented with celery, carrot sticks and chunky blue cheese dressing. Drinks were well made and everything was reasonably priced, esp considering the size. Also a perk… they were playing the REDSOX game! Will definitely be back when I make my DC return!

I moved to the neighborhood about a year ago and used to enjoy coming here. Tonight’s visit shows how far down the quality of food and service have gone. The food went from mediocre to inedible. Service was bad as well.

4 stars for the roof deck and location in Cleveland Park. 3 stars for the food, average bar fare. Not a bad place to get a cheap burger during their happy hour.

Skip it– drinks are served in plastic, house wines are bad, food is meh. About the only thing I’d go in for is end of the night munchies.

The food was good and roof porch was great, but drinks were incredibly expensive! A 12-ounce plastic cup of beer is 6 — 8 dollars. High prices for college beer presentation. They don’t list the prices either so you don’t know unless you ask. Skip it.

I was a fan of the upstairs bar which was cozy on a winter night thanks to the indoor heaters. It seems like there’s a really nice patio up there as well which seems ideal in the spring and summer. The downstairs bar got really busy for the NCAA regular season, so people generally like this place as far as I could tell on my first visit. Beer and shot prices were a bit ridiculous, $ 7 for a Sam Seasonal — more for SoCo & lime. It was a nice bar, but not sure I could come back unless there’s extended happy hour prices.

As a neighborhood resident, I frequent CPBG, which for a local sports bar is good to go watch a football game and drink some beer. IF you are looking to eat, I’d say spare yourself. The food is horribly prepared and if you are there when it is semi-«crowded», then it will take an hour to serve up some soggy, watery nachos. Since the nachos were covered in wet cheese wiz that made them inedible, we decided to order the mini burger sliders. Boy, that was another mistake. These were overcooked hockey pucks. The buns were freezing cold and the meat looked like it had been sitting on the grill for an hour. They were disgusting!!! We stayed for a few more hours to drink but did not dare to order any other food.

Waited an hour for chicken tenders, waitress(Xiomara) never put them in. I closed my tab with my drinks and moved parties and complained about the chicken tenders, magically they can out 20 minutes later. Then was informed that I couldn’t pay separately for my own food. Had to complain to be able to split my ticket off of the groups. Will not be back.

We live just down the street from Cleveland Park Bar and Grill and have stopped in a handful of times for dinner. We most recently sat up on the roof deck which is a rare opportunity in our neighborhood. We’ve always had pleasant service, although not always speedy as the servers usually have more tables than it seems they should. The food ranges from oaky to really good. The typical bar fare is well represented with mozzarella sticks and chicken fingers, but they also surprise you with a wonderful apple goat cheese salad. Good place to go if you want something simple with a lot of menu options.

Meh. The first time I came here the waiter got out order wrong(was told he didn’t know what stuffed pizza was even though its on the menu). Came back and ordered a pizza ale w/arugula. They basically put a salad on top of the pizza rather than cooking it in. At this point we won’t be back. The pizza we got was bland and disappointing. Better places in the area like Mellow Mushroom.

I lived in Woodley Park for five years and now live further away in McLean Gardens and still frequent«CPBG.» It is a sports bar so don’t expect a club or U Street atmosphere. When folks are in from out of town and want to go out but nothing fancy CPBG is a staple. Where CPBG is strong is brunch and creative sandwiches. At brunch the sausage benedict and eggs Florentine are phenomenal. Italian sausage as a benedict works perfectly, and the spinach in the Florentine is the perfect balance of sauté and light crunch. The Hollandaise is good, but like I do everywhere ask for it on the side so I can control distribution. Other menu standouts include the pollo sandwich. The chicken is grilled fresh and topped with field greens and your choice of a dressing(I prefer the lemon). The other sandwich I like is the Uovo. You can combine the meat or cheese with vegetables from the pizza menu if you ask. The pizza is okay bar pizza, and the hamburger and typical bar food appetizers are solid but nothing exceptional. I disagree with the negative review comments on the staff. The bar and wait staff are helpful and friendly. On slow days they may hang back by the kitchen but are easily available if needed.

Make sure to check out the roof! Tons of TV’s to watch a myriad of sports from, and nice views of cleveland park. The happy hour is popular among students from American University, and offers great well drink and beer options. Fantastic calamari and crab dip are OUTSTANDING.

It’s Rooftop season! Cool place to grab some drinks, eat some typical bar food. I do like their wings(especially the sauce). Summertime in DC, drinking outside is what it is all about. Come for the rooftop, stay for the fun.

Great local sports bar. Decent selection of beer. Rooftop bar and patio. Good space but gets incredibly busy when the weather is nice and during football season. What make cpbg such a good place is the quality of the food. Chicken fingers, pizza, Mac n cheese etc. The food is much better than your typical sports bar. The staff is friendly, good atmosphere. Weekly food specials. Check it out.

How have I not reviewed this favorite spot yet? I LOVE… LOVE…CPBG. This is why: This is one of my favorite bars for happy hours, chilling at a bar watching sports and drinking a beer(whilst still being able to sit and hear), brunch, dinner, anything. In the summer, the roof deck is on point. It’s half in the shade, half open. There’s a full bar and food service available, along with large screen TVs. Any place that allows me to drink outside is a favorite for me. Downstairs(and inside for winter time) are tons of seats, hightops, bar seats, and TVs. The service is consistently great – really friendly, attentive, makes you feel welcome. I love the food here. It’s basic bar food with a few interesting options added to the menu. You can’t beat the nachos, pizzas(pizza ale is my favorite), salads, wings… I could go on and on. Nothing is over the top expensive, and their happy hour is very reasonable($ 3 beer!) Every time I go here I feel like I’m going home.

Great spot in the heart of Cleveland Park… Friendly bartenders, good food, and right near the metro. This has become a popular happy hour spot… and a good place to watch football and other sports games for my friends and I. The deck up top is great year-round, but especially when the weather is nice. Place is deceptively big… so don’t be turned off by how small it looks when you first walk in the door. There’s plenty of space, a big bar, and lots of tables. Can’t go wrong if you end up here for a drink, dinner, happy hour, or whatever else you are out and about for!

Haven’t tried the food but CP Bar & Grill has great drink prices during happy hour and a nice selection of beers on tap. The bar is large with lots of TVs, making it a great spot to watch games. During nice weather, head upstairs for the rooftop experience. There are TVs up top as well. We’re looking forward to trying the food sometime. Had great service for drinks on a weeknight.

«Great food, sports and fun people in Cleveland Park» CPBG has been my local bar during the 7 years I have lived in Cleveland Park, a great neighborhood bar with a welcoming atmosphere to all. Good mix of ages and conversations on any night. Extensive menu of pasta, wood fired, brick oven pizzas, salads. Lighter fare of sandwiches, paninis, wings and much more, all reasonably priced. Also a great place for Sunday Brunch, especially on the«roof-top deck» in the spring, summer and fall. If you’re a sports fan, college or pros, football, baseball, hockey, hoops, soccer or even«Hillbilly Hand-fishing» you can find it on one of the 36 newly replaced screens featuring a number of satellite sports packages. This summer it was the place to be during the 2014 World Cup — fans from around the world enjoying the competition and each other without any of the hassle you might find in other sports bars. The kitchen crew is talented creating a menu of different specials, well beyond the average«pub fare» twice a week in addition to their regular menu and the wait staff and bartenders are friendly and attentive. CPBG is one of the best places in DC to meet old friends, have a great meal, a few drinks and make some new friends too.
