Currently went in for a chicken platter during lunch the other day after 3pm, can’t say I had the most pleasant experience. Not only was I greeted by a fat asshole of a cashier, he did nothing but take my order with an attitude while leaning over the counter looking at me– made me feel pretty uncomfortable. Although the food was high quality, the customer service was completely shit. I don’t think id go back just because of the fat white man working the register. 2 stars only because the food was tastey!

Best option for fresh, non-fast food in tenleytown. The chicken is well seasoned and juicy. I usually get a chicken ceasar salad. I’ve been going for years, such a friendly staff! Nice people, inexpensive and good eats.

When I read past reviews on this location, I can’t help but get enraged at Sam L’s 1 star review. 1 star– for not getting enough sauce or thinking the sauce portion is adequate. I go once a week to get Peruvian at a handful of restaurants in MD and DC and they all hand out the same container. If you need more sauce then paper up. Trying to breakdown what you think sauce cost is hilarious. There’s labor, insurance, rent etc to run a business, not just what the food cost is. I’ve never seen someone complain about the amount of sauce they are given. If you don’t like one, be a big boy and ask for a different kind. Anyone that thinks they are getting ripped off or taken at this restaurant should stay at home and eat 3 day old pizza from manny and olgas, because that’s what they are worth. It’s great chicken and sides with a good amount of sauce at affordable prices. Enough said, dab on em!

Same great food, terrible service. Was lied to about wait time over and over and am still sitting here after 30 mins. I have been offered no discount, and the guy behind the counter seems to think this is funny. Can I have him explain this to my boss? I doubt it.

This is some darn good chicken. Not that I’m an expert on peruvian chicken, but it’s darn good. The sides of rice and beans go well with the chicken, and the plantains are dark and sweet. It’s one of those places that are so delicious to eat at in the moment, but an hour or so later you begin to question your eating habits… but chicken like this is worth it even if you end up regretting what you ate later. The flan dessert was a huge disappointment though. It was more like tasteless milk-thick jello.

I’m used to Sardis chicken in College Park, so I was hoping for a closer alternative to my favorite Peruvian chicken. This place disappointed me. Chicken was very salty, even with a crispy crust. I thought it was weird that the rice and beans came in a prepackaged container… are you that obsessed with not over serving food? The rice in there was pretty hard too, not soft or fresh. Also, no options for a vegetable side besides a house salad… not even green beans? Guess I’ll have to make the trek to Sardis. I probably won’t be back.

This place was great for fast food! Chicken is tender and flavorful but a bit on the salty side. My boyfriend ordered yucca fries and I tried one. One word — AMAZING! French fries were good too. They are French fries after all. My boyfriend also had the Caesar salad and he even said it was pretty good. And whatever that orange sauce was that I dipped my chicken in, its like crack! Do delish :)

Why this place is rated so low is baffling to me. I’ve been coming here since I was a freshman at AU, and keep coming back because the food is amazing. The chicken is always good so are the sweet plantains and the yucca fries that I order EVERYSINGLETIME! This place is awesome! Reason I took one star off is because sometimes when I pick up to go, they forget the sauce and because last time I ordered(yesterday) I noticed that the portion sizes have gotten smaller,(they were ridiculously huge to begin with but I got used to the good times). All in all this place is great, has good food, nice people, and always music playing. I will always stop by for a quick bite.

Amazing! Perfect Peruvian Chicken with all the sides you’ll love. Their platanos maduros(sweet plantains) are awesome and so is their rice and beans. Unfortunately at the Tenleytown location the yellow rice isn’t great, there’s no outdoor seating, and they don’t deliver. But, that STILL doesn’t warrant anything less than 5 stars. I just ate their two days ago and I need to go back again soon. I NEEDIT. The staff is really nice also. Very friendly and happy to help. The restaurant itself is set up like a McDonald’s — very casual. You order at the register and wait for your order number to be called out. But the place is really comfortable to eat in, so you feel welcomed to stay and eat at one of the many tables inside. They also play Spanish music kind of loudly, but it’s a nice touch in an otherwise uninteresting space. It’s not intrusive if you’re having a conversation with the person you’re eating with, it’s just louder than ambient background music. I usually get a quarter dark meat platter(leg and thigh) with rice and beans and plantains as my two sides. It costs $ 9 and change and is totally worth it. BRB, GOINGTOGETMORECRISP&JUICY.

Decent, but fails in comparison to it’s Cherrydale location. Though this one is somewhat cleanlier than the Cherrydale location it LACKS the homeliness of the old school Peruvian rotisserie chicken affair. The chicken here was brined somewhat saltier and the cost of the food was pricier(fair being its location) but the kicker was the adamant cashier who kept up selling dishes thinking I was saving money on the meal but my order came out to $ 48 for two whole chickens and marginal sides. When I asked her if I could have sauce with my order, her reply was«Your order comes with 8. Anymore and I charge you.» One I don’t mind paying, but do the math and the metrics here two whole chickens with sides such as Yuca, you really think 8 sauces are enough? If you do think that you probably think Aaron Hernandez is innocent. The demeanor of the cashier was enough of a turnoff to ever coming back here again and keeping my business in Arlington/Falls Church area where Edy’s and EPR(El Pollo Rico) suffice. Fortunately they should be glad they’re in Tenleytown where the high school and college students keep them afloat but if you’re in need of Peruvian chicken go elsewhere.

Easter lunch for six Peruvian style. Delicious chicken cooked to perfection, rice and black beans seasoned just right, sweet fried plantains and crispy yucca«fries» with spicy sauce. Fast service and good prices. They definitely deserve a best of DC.

LOVE it! Yea… Yea! It’s fast food. Has lots of sodium. But who cares. Once in a while, when it’s cold out, or no dinner at home, or it’s just Tuesday, Crisp & Juicy is the way to go. I think I have eaten there maybe once or twice but I have ordered for take-out many times. We always order the chicken family platter and for the sides, plantains, rice, and beans. They have these sauces that are just amazing; the give them out with the food. Can’t say that I have tried anything else because I really like the chicken and the plantain, rice, and bean sides. It never hurts to check the order once you get it because sometimes they make mistakes. This is the best and the cheapest fast food that I can bring myself to eat(and not feel too guilty afterwards).

After an event I bet my friends a drink each that if we went here they would have the juiciest, most delicious chicken they’ve ever tasted. Everyone agreed I was right, and I did not need to buy anybody drinks, and furthermore we all enjoyed a delicious meal. This place doesn’t have frills, but the food(mostly chicken) is fantastic. I also am a fan of the yuca. Stay away from the salad, it was completely soaked in water.

It’s hard to find a cheap but good place to eat on a paleo lifestyle. Crisp and juicy definitely gets it right. The chicken is great and the sides are good. I recommend the fried yuca and plantains. The beans and rice can be a little dry and not cooked or warm thoroughly. The sauces I can’t get enough of an always have to get extra.

Good for a quick bite to eat! Picked up some food to go on the recommendation of some good friends. Here’s the breakdown: Food: Overall pretty tasty. We ordered: Half Chicken– the chicken was certainly juicy! The only thing that was not great about the chicken was the skin, which is usually my guilty and fatty pleasure. It was crazy salty, and I am a salt lover, but it was too much for me. Friend plantains — side: my boyfriend said these were decent, nothing special. House salad– side: this was actually very tasty– the dressing especially; however, the size was comically small. Arroz Chaufa– Really interesting. This is Peruvian fried rice and we ordered it without chicken, since we already had a half a chicken. I like this dish a lot. It was basically the fried rice you’d expect at a Chinese restaurant. Price: Slightly more expensive than I would like for a hole in the wall to go place. Service: Since we ordered for pick up, I based this section on the ease of ordering via phone, the correctness of our order, and our pick up experience. The phone ordering and correctness of the order was great. No complaints. Our service upon arrival to pick up our food was poor. We were completely ignored when we came in and had to flag down the attention of someone to get us our food. Was the place crazy busy you ask? No. It was not. All in all, this place was a tasty choice after a long day. Would I run back here again? Probably not.

Good peruvian chicken with good sides. They are real cheap about the side sauces which are a spit of dipping sauce & cost a fortune if you ask for more but the main course & Food sides are good so you deal with this annoyance. I have had better rotisserie/peruvian chicken but I cant complain about the numerous times that I have visited it — good food, good portions, and good flavor. Not the friendly service but it is DC& a fast casual place so the workers generally are not happy to be working. It is a lunch place for more so speed, quantity, & price are the main factors. Quantity because I try & have lunch as my largest meal.

I dig it. I have a thing for anywhere that serves plantains. This includes my work cafeteria, so my bar isn’t crazy high. Honestly though what’s not to love about chicken, plantains, beans and rice? Yes, this is my ideal combination of foods. One recommendation: potato salad is probably the least delicious option, but all else is crisp and juicy.

I was starving and in Tenleytown, so I decided to try Crisp and Juicy. It got a huge range of reviews, so I thought I’d check it out. Prices are reasonable. I ordered ¼ dark meat with 2 sides(fried yuca and plantains) and it came up to $ 8.42. Its about the same as other Peruvian chicken places in the DMV. I took off a star because they completely forgot about my order. I thought I got a pretty basic order… something pretty quick. My order number was in the 70s, so when I started hearing numbers in the 80s called, I started getting curious. I asked the guy calling the orders, and yes, they completely missed mine. He called the kitchen to do a rush, that they needed it «yesterday», so I got it within 3 minutes of me asking… but sheesh… that was 3 minutes too long, taking into account the previous 20 minutes I waited for. I took another star off because I didn’t get a green sauce that I usually get at other peruvian chicken places. I read about the strict sauce policy, so I didn’t bother asking. I was already running late, so I didn’t want to be delayed anymore. I took the last star off because I thought the chicken was a tad too salty and more boney than meaty. The yuca and plantains were delicious though. I just wish I had the green sauce to dip it in! While I was there, the AG of DOJ arrived and ordered food, so that was sort of humbling. I guess if the food is good enough for the AG, it’s good enough for me! Still 2 stars though!!!

Would be 4 stars, but Crisp & Juicy gets 1 star because of their insane sauce prices/policy. Here are the problems with the sauce policy at Crisp & Juicy: –The cups of sauce are tiny. Really, really tiny. I did some research, finding that the cups are .75oz, which is 1.5 tablespoons. –They have 3 sauces(green, yellow, orange). You are given a random assortment of 2 sauces with a half chicken, yucca and rice and beans. They never ask. –Extra sauces cost 50 cents each. –The orange and yellow sauces consist mostly of mayo, which retails for ~10 cents an ounce. –The retail value of crisp and juicy sauce would come to $ 48 a gallon. I’ve probably eaten here about 4 times. EVERY time I go in, and I mean every time. I see people asking for more sauce as they pick-up their order(if this isn’t clear already, it really is a comically small amount of sauce) and then I see those people surprised reaction when they realize they have to spend an additional $ 1-$ 1.50 to get a reasonable amount of sauce. Crisp & Juicy, I urge you to stop charging such an outrageous price for such ridiculously small amounts of sauce. You need to make the containers bigger or the prices lower. And please give one of each of the 3 sauces when people order an $ 11 platter. People are right to feel ripped off!
