Great happy hour. Chef was out to meet and greet. The tapas are huge so there! Bar tender is nice & receptive. Food was good!

Went for brunch on a Saturday because we had a groupon. Went right at 11 when they opened and we were literally the only people there. You walk down steps to a nice but dark dining room and bar. They weren’t even ready to be open so we sat at the bar and ordered mimosas since our groupon included bottomless mimosas. After about 15 – 20 minutes the outside seating area was open so we sat there. The staff was super friendly which is the only reason I gave 2 stars. The food is worth a ½ star. I had the mushroom omelette and the mushrooms were odd tasting. Actually the whole brunch left an aftertaste in your mouth. The waitress admitted she usually works on the Indian restaurant side where the food is well liked but on this side, the customers didn’t seem to rave about the food. Skip this place for brunch.

First time in DC. Purchased a groupon for brunch. so was not sure what I was in for. Got to say the food was delicious. Our waiter Francois was absolutely great! Great service is always on top of my list! We order the skirt steak and scramble eggs with bacon and sausage and the berry cobbler for dessert. Everything was perfectly seasoned. The chef came to our table to welcome us. thought that was very nice. If I was living here I would definitely be back.

Went here for brunch with bottomless the mimosas. The mimosas were pretty good and truly were bottomless, I wasn’t even able to get halfway through a glass before it was filled to the top again! The service was really outstanding, and even the chef and I think the restaurant manager stopped by our table to see if we enjoyed the food. The food was pretty good, though the duck confit eggs benedict kinda tasted like eggs benedict with chicken pot pie filling instead of canadian bacon. Overall, we were pretty happy with it, but probably won’t come back unless we have a groupon or something.

After attending the Unilocal Elite event«Around the World in 80 Unilocal,» my boyfriend and I came out with a 30% off discount card to return to the restaurant. We decided a date night was in order to go use it, and so we came in late on a rainy Saturday evening. It was remarkably quiet in the restaurant when we got there – we were actually the only people on the Crossroads side of the restaurant with an hour and half left until they closed. The restaurant is very open but it still has a certain degree of charm to it. The kitchen is visible to the diners, which is always kind of fun, and the small bar is neat and attractive. I kind of prefer the space they have designated for Heritage India behind the bar, as it is much more cozy and secluded. When we sat down and our waitress came over, it became quickly apparent that she was almost certainly new. We had hardly had a chance to open our menus before she was asking if we were ready to order drinks. Luckily, I had decided quickly, so I ordered my cocktail and my boyfriend ordered his wine. My drink – the Crash and Burn – was pretty darn tasty. It was a blend of seven kinds of alcohol and tropical juice, but you could barely taste the liquor. Props to the bar for making a great drink worthy of the somewhat steep prices. We then ordered our food, some to share and some individually. There were a fair number of vegetarian options on the menu(albeit half of them were Indian food) and we sampled several. We shared the Yegey Sir Quiggil, which is an Ethiopian beet and potato salad. It had a very earthy flavor, and it was nice to experience something very different from the usual tapas fare. I ordered the roasted eggplant, and unfortunately it just wasn’t very good. It was actually fried, and there just wasn’t much flavor to it, plus it was verging on being burnt. We also shared an order of the goat cheese truffles, which were delicious, but it is kind of hard to mess up a lightly fried ball of cheese. The biggest issue of the evening was my boyfriend’s order. First, he asked for the Duck Bolognaise, and they came back with the Duck Confit tater tots. Innocent enough mistake. They left it on the table to compensate and then brought his dish later on, so that was good. But then, when it came, we were really surprised by the size of the dish and quickly realized that they brought him the entrée portion and not the tapas portion. Not only that, but when we received the bill, they had also charged us for the entrée portion. Our waitress never asked which one he wanted and everything else we had ordered was tapas, so we thought it a little strange that they would just assume he wanted the bigger portion. It also tasted somewhat under-seasoned to him. In the end, our experience there was fine but not excellent. We enjoyed a good portion of the food, but the service and some of the food was clearly lacking. I’m not really sure we would come back, as there are plenty of other great restaurants downtown. It’s a good effort, though, and I’m hopeful that perhaps they will work out some of the kinks as time goes on.

You know I really hate having to give this place such a bad review because I wanted to like it so much. I mean the people are supremely nice and the chef is an awesome guy, but there’s just too much wrong with the food for me to be able to review it any higher. I won the raffle at the elite event for a $ 50 gift certificate here and was like yeah baby! Showing up here for brunch I saw a bunch of signs for $ 10 bottomless mimosas and bloody marys cool stuff. Well the boo decided to go with it, well imagine how we felt when we saw a $ 36 charge on the receipt for«Capital Deals» whatever that is(I assume the mimosas). He later commented if he had paid $ 10 per mimosa it still would’ve been cheaper than what they charged us. Anyways now that I’ve gotten that out of my system time to move onto the food. Well I didn’t realize that during brunch only the brunch menu is served up. Well that’s okay and dandy. We ordered a few dishes to try out. There was an emerald prawn with eggs dish, steak and mushrooms with a fried egg. eggs benedict with duck, and a mushroom and cheese omelet. There is just so much wrong with them that I would have a hard time fitting them here, lets just say I ate 1 – 3 bites of each and the fruit bowl was the most exciting thing on the plate for both of us. A lot of the food had a rather unsavoury aftertaste that was not pleasant at all. The servers and chef were very nice though. Unfortunately I cannot say the same about the food or what they will charge for a bottomless mimosa. The bill with a $ 50 gift certificate was $ 62 with tip. This may explain why they were so empty during brunch a DC institution, as after this I have it on my to avoid at all costs list. I’m okay with bad food, but I also felt ripped off afterwards which is just rubbing salt in the wound.

I went to an event but it was quite chaotic I ended up ordering some food to go. I ordered the butter chicken, extra spicy. The butter chicken was quite delicious and spicy. I would like to have that again. The staff were great!

3.75 Stars I like Heritage India so I thought I’d give their new venture a shot despite my reservations about the idea of «global cuisine»(all I could think of was the Seinfeld episode with Babu Bhatt). It appears that there are actually two restaurants housed in this space: the«Crossroads» that serves small plates from around the world, and a separate Indian restaurant located behind the bar. Unfortunately I arrived too late(9:40pm on a Thursday) for the global menu, but they were still serving Indian. I grabbed a seat in the nearly empty lounge area while around me they seemed to be closing up shop. To be fair, the Indian food was great; I had the alloo chaat(a spicy fried Indian street food of potato with chickpeas) and lamb seekh kebab. The presentation was beautiful and as requested, they did not hold back on the spicing! The 10-seat marble topped bar has eight somewhat pedestrian drafts including Peroni and Pilsner Urquell with their own fancy taps, plus the best of the lot: Flying Dog’s Raging Bitch. Overall, the Indian food lives up to Heritage India’s brand, but the space, located in a basement space off of Pennsylvania Avenue in what I think used to be a gym, does not.

Crossroads Restaurant is a very interesting spot. I attended«Around the World in 80 Unilocal» and had a wonderful time. I enjoyed the amenities at the event, and I plan to return soon to experience the full flavor of the restaurant, especially the Duck Lollipops! Thanks for the nice introduction to Crossroads.

Really cool new restaurant offering an awesome selection of food from around the world. Great spot for a date or happy hour gathering because of the large selection and small-plate offerings. Some of the highlights were: –Peroni on tap –tuna tartare –Charcuterie plates –house cured salmon with potato matchstick –veal soft taco –braised lamb dish Highly recommend!

Will not return and will warn my colleagues, family and friends not to try it. I was excited to see a new restaurant near my office(actually, 2, as this place shares space with Heritage India), so my wife and I decided to try it, and the food was terrible. In addition to being expensive(tapas plates around $ 10 — $ 15), each item we ordered had a fatal flaw: — the miso soup, not hot, but otherwise OK; — the Malaysian chicken — neither Malaysian, nor, from what I could tell, chicken — tasted awful(and nothing like anything I have ever had at a Malaysian restaurant — try Malaysia Kopitiam for good stuff), found bones, cartilage and fat and meat was very pink; –the noodle bowl with duck wings — nothing that resembled any Asian flavor — more like a bad vegetable soup with some cellophane noodles added; the duck wings were OK; –the sashimi and sushi rice(ordered for an additional charge) was poor — rice was gummy and the 8 pieces of sashimi included three pieces of octopus instead of variety. The food was so bad that we complained to the waitress and the chef. We were offered apologies by both, but not to replace the inedible food with something else or to remove the offending dishes from our bill. In addition, though we had a coupon that said 20% off the entire menu this month, we were told that applied to only one thing we ordered. In fairness, the chef did give us a couple of chocolate truffles to end the meal, and those were good. All in all, I would rather have had mall chinese food.

Found this place for brunch through Capitol deals — it was phenomenal. Beautiful place, top notch food and great service. This place is in a hard to find location, but I hope they survive because I know I’ll be back. The 10 veggie scramble was superb and I highly recommend it. It came with FRESH fruit and potatoes!

So I came in and tried this place on Penn Ave. and the menu was perhaps the longest one I have seen with foods from all over the world, hence the name crossroads. It was all cooked to perfection. The service was great and the drinks were also pretty good. Over all it was a good experience. so they get a 4 out of 5.
