Amidst a crowded and competitive marketplace, they serve the best sandwiches in the area. Lunch specials are always good, quiche is excellent. I just wish I could take advantage of the quality brew selections.

It’s about time I write a review… I would say that I have eaten lunch or breakfast here at least once a week for the last year. The stand outs are the soup and sandwich combo, specials and quiche. The ½ sandwich on the combo is huge, inexpensive and includes some of the best homemade soup in the area. I like all the soups I’ve tried, but the cream soups are particularly awesome and not full of fillers. There are usually at least 4 soup options and portions are ample. The seafood chowder, mushroom brie and Russian Potato soups are comfort food goodness. For the sandwich I always get the Turkey BLT. While I would like to expand my horizons the Turkey BLT is just so good and plentiful that I cant change. Maybe someday. The Specials ooooh the specials. The eggplant sandwich was perfect, greasy, cheesy, saucy and served with soup! I saw someone with the fried chicken today and judging by other reviews on here that is awesome too. It looked like some of the best light battered fried chicken I’ve seen. And the portions(on all specials!) are definitely enough for 2 meals. Quiche is great and hearty almost bready. I appreciate that I can get a salad with it for breakfast. The mushroom is my favorite. Also the egg and cheese sandwich is the best I’ve had in the area. I don’t know how you could possibly disappointed(unless you only order a coffee… Brew stands for Beer), but understand what Bread and Brew is, an unpretentious place with nice staff and great cooks creating well crafted café fare.

This little spot was nice and cozy… Wi-Fi and tv were a plus… I ordered the white pizza… I am a white pizza fanatic… This pizza was good but it was SOOOOO greasy I couldn’t enjoy it… once I got home I reheated it in the oven and it was better but still not great. In addition the bland crust left more to be desired…

This is a strange little restaurant. The bar downstairs looks like the finished basement of that cool kid who’s parents are«totally fine if you drink, just do it in the house.» It had boxes stacked up everywhere, an odd assortment of liquor on display, and just had a very strange feel. It’s possible we caught them on an off-day – but we didn’t stick around to find out. We came back to grab lunch the next week and opted for their Caesar salad. The box of salad is large, inexpensive and fresh – however the salad itself is very inconsistent. Some days its got so much dressing, certain parts are too soggy to eat, this time my coworker’s was perfectly dressed and mine was dry and flavorless. I regret not having ordered their fried chicken and potatoes special last week – it came out to another table and looked divine. They have a nice selection of healthy juices, lemonades, and bottled teas. Their espresso drinks are perfectly adequate.

Very informal, yet pleasant atmosphere in this café tucked away right behind DuPont circle. It’s affordable– from a college student’s perspective! Decent Cuban sandwiches to boot. Highly satisfied with how quickly my meal was prepared– a mere ten minutes. Would come again

Looking for a late lunch, I wanted to try somewhere new in Dupont Circle. I turned to nearby Unilocal suggestions and this popped up. It is about two blocks south of DP circle. I got the soup and sandwich combo with a drink. Get the sandwich toasted, so good! I ordered the turkey sandwich with butternut squash soup. The turkey sandwich was amazing, no deli meat. Just nice big slices of cut turkey like you would expect from Thanksgiving turkey sandwiches. The butternut squash was good considering I am not usually a Butternut squash soup fan. I would probably get the turkey noodle soup in the future. I went at 4:30pm on a Tuesday so there was no one else there. Plenty of seating inside and out. I really enjoyed the oldies music that they were playing. Each song was better than the last. Bön Jovi, Mellencamp, etc. I would go here again, something different than the chain Cosi and Paneras.

Breakfast review *Dulce de leche — standard to pretty good *Spinach Quiche w/side salad — The portion was huge, but lacked in flavor. Definitely needed salt and pepper, which I rarely add to dishes unless absolutely necessary. The salad was a nice refreshing touch, great balsamic dressing but a bit too much.

I will never claim anything to be the best, but if you are pizza fan def check this place out. Beer selection a bit weak for my expectations from the name BUT they do you have good beers and probably my favorite bartender in DC. Relaxed friendly atmosphere where I had fun talking to whoever when I went alone.

We really liked this small spot. Incredible pizza. A good selection of beer. The best thing was our server, Akasha, she sat with us and listened to 90’s music and entertained our entire group while somehow keeping the entire patio just as happy. Come here for happy hour! You won’t be disappointed.

The location is cozy and sociable, if you can tolerate the noise. With that said, all is forgiven when you try the food, which is simply excellent. This is not just another pretentious food counter. They put in some real effort and use quality ingredients.

This place is odd when it comes to food in the DuPont Area. I expected more. All the reviews praise and raise this place up to a higher level than what it is. I would give this place 2.5 stars, but the atmosphere and ambiance prevent me from rounding up to 3. My main concern was the staff seemed unhappy– not just tired, but unappreciated. One staffer was clearly very pregnant, but for some reason I felt like the manager was talking down to her somewhat rudely. Maybe it was just a long day for everyone there, but it felt strange. Also, for some reason it felt messy though all the tables were clean. There were lots of food items that were on counters behind the register and baked goods that seemed to be ignored or just left lying on the baker’s cart. The menu boards were written by hand and seemed to be disheveled, as well. I wasn’t really sure what was actually available to order, so I went with pizza and soup. They were both definitely solid 3 star food, the soup was definitely a 4 out of 5. Still, I just can’t shake the strange feelings I had here if sad staff and somewhat disorganized food offerings and storage.

I really enjoyed Bread and Brew. We came for lunch because it was really close to our hotel. The restaurant was really busy, which shows that it is popular. The quality of the food and the variety was really good. We also sat outside, which added a nice touch. I had the special, which was a buttermilk fried chicken sandwich with an herb vinaigrette and coleslaw. It also came with fries, which were awesome. My boyfriend got the salmon pizza, which he enjoyed as well. Anyone who likes lox would probably enjoy this dish. If you’re in the area, it’s worth checking out.

Probably more like 3.5 stars. I like going to this place for take-out lunch. They always have interesting daily specials which you can track on their Twitter page. I usually get the(usually fried) taco special or the quiche. The quiche is big and cheesy. The tacos usually come with quac and other fresh ingredients. Both come with a unique side salad – not just crummy iceberg lettuce or something that you get at other places. A good amount of vegetarian and vegan options. I’ve heard good things from my coworkers about their other dishes, like the pizza and vegan chili and grilled cheese. Good variety. My only complaint is that the service sometimes seems slow and disorganized. For example, today, after I ordered my mushroom tacos, I waited a long time and noticed that people who arrived after me had already received their orders. When I asked about it, the staff seemed confused. They eventually realized that they hadn’t given the chef my order. They did not seem in a rush to make it after that and no one apologized despite my very long wait. Most people behind the counter were just sort of standing around. Other thoughts: There always seems like there is seating available during lunch. The music is fun and appealing to a lot of people I think. The small drinks(for ex. small coffee) are smaller than you’d expect — I’d spring for a large. And the prices are a little high. $ 12 for most of the specials. The ingredients are fresh, but it still seems like a lot to pay for lunch.

My husband and I sat downstairs at the bar to grab a quick bite to eat and enjoy their happy hour. We had never been before, and were eager to try it out. Their website boasted a deal for a free beer with the purchase of food, but our bartender/waitress was unaware of the offer, but honored it nonetheless. Our waitress was friendly, though maybe not the most knowledgeable about drinks, but we ordered beer, so there were no issues. I ordered the ½ and ½ menu deal. Of the options for each, I chose the salad with goat cheese(which was fantastic) and a beef sandwich. I could tell the food/ingredients were super fresh and selected well. The food was by far the best part of the experience. The décor in the bar downstairs felt like an old school cafeteria, kind of dingy and nothing special about it. They had outside seating on their little deck/patio, but we did not realize we could get happy hour out there until we had already settled in to our seats and ordered our food. If you want a good, fresh salad or sandwich quickly, this is your spot.

The only reason I have to give this place 4 stars instead of 5 is because the night we were there the front entrance had a weird smell, but it was gone once we got inside. My boyfriend and I were back in the area visiting friends and we ended up spending almost 7 hours in here! The happy hour is a real deal for the Dupont area — a special $ 5 cocktail(that night was margs) and $ 3 rails. The bartender, Mandy, made me the best fruit margaritas I’ve ever had! I had the raspberry and blackberry — full of REAL fruit! We were going to go elsewhere for dinner because I was craving shrimp tacos, and Mandy talked to the chef(Houston — I believe!) who whipped up some incredible shrimp tacos accompanied by a delicious black bean and mango salad. The combination of great food, great drinks, and great service means I will definitely be coming back here!

Hungry for a great sandwich, soup or salad? DC Bread and Brew is probably your spot. By far one of my favorite lunch spots in the Dupont Circle/Golden Triangle area — Bread and Brew provides fresh, hardy sandwiches, soups and salads all for under $ 10. Sandwiches: Pick your meat base: Turkey, Ham, Chicken Veggie and Hummus ect than choose your bread: sourdough, multigrain, rye ect. — the options seem endless. My personal favorite is the Turkey BLT on sourdough bread. Soups range from a vegan chili to roasted butternut squash and apple(yum!). Can’t make up your mind? B&B does a You Pick Two: soup, salad or sandwich for $ 7.75! I would definitely recommend making B&B your next lunch time spot. Side note: While I can’t attest to this, I also hear they have great quiche and cheap happy our specials between 4 — 8PM.

This review is for my one experience with DC B&B which was a catered lunch… Very good. I’m usually the kind of person who orders a sandwich and says, «But no onions, very little mustard, no mayo pleaseandthankyou.» Considering this was a catered lunch and my «ordering» was limited to being lucky(strategic) enough to be one of the first people in line, I had to select from pre-assembled sandwiches. I chose the roast beef option and after carefully picking off the onions, I proceeded to eat and enjoy my lunch. I don’t remember the name brand of the potato chips that came with the meal, but they must have been extra good since in my Unilocal review notes I put«good chips.»

*This review is for lunch only* This place was crowded but the line moved quickly and I only had to wait about 5 min for my order. Not bad for a lunch rush. I ordered ½ Turkey BLT and a cup of butternut squash soup.(I love fall soups) –Turkey BLT: Quite huge for a halfie. I chose ciabatta bread and they loaded it with fresh turkey which was great. They piled on way too much mayo though and the bacon wasn’t crispy. I also didn’t know it came with cheese — I could have done without it. –Butternut Squash soup: I could only take 3 bites out of this before throwing the whole thing away. It was way too thick(you shouldn’t have to chew a bisque) and wayyyyyyy too sweet. Not the hearty comfort cup of soup that I am used to with this type. I didn’t finish either of my items and with all of the different options we have in the area, I do not think I will be coming back here for lunch.

I like this spot! Eyed it some time ago on my power walk. My coworker friend reminded me to take him. So we set out to this place. I was pleased to find that they have a chalkboard out front where they write the daily specials. This particular day it was a quesadilla or a Cuban sandwich for $ 11. You can choose from over 20 different types of craft beer, they offer a nice variety of wines(a few organic ones), coffee, and espresso. It’s got a little hipster vibe to it; I found the layout and the theme to be refreshing for the DuPont Circle lunch area. They have a really good menu for vegetarians as well. My chicken quesadilla was pretty good, but I like really sharp cheddar cheese, and they used something a lot more mild. My coworker friend really enjoyed their Cuban sandwich with sweet potato fries, and he said their Cuban was better than G Street’s(a tough act to follow). Next time I want to try the beer battered catfish tacos or the spinach and goat cheese quiche. I’m not big on sweets but, items like bread pudding and apple salted caramel bundt cake do catch my attention! It’s a little walk from the GW area, but I think for the quality of food it’s well worth it.

No fuss food and outdoor dining without wait! Dog friendly deck and free doggy treats make this an easy place for our pup to join in a happy hour. HH beer and wine selection isn’t huge but the pizza is surprising good. Have also been here for brunch and would get the bagel and lox again. The menu here is simple but sometimes that’s all I want.
