DC Grill Express

It was ok. Ordered 3 steak tacos. They looked good on pictures so I was like why not?. They delivered the order fast. But I got my tacos with only 1 tortilla and they didn’t look like they did on the pictures, plus I got to wrapped them in a different tortilla. I was disappointed. Not trying to eat food from here anymore. Not worth my money.

Wasn’t that impressed. I ordered them thru grub hub and normally grub hub takes a long time. After 25 min of ordering my food, it was here. I was like wow. That’s awesome. What fast service. However when I opened my buffalo chicken sandwich and took a bite it was cold. I don’t think I’ll be ordering from there again

I discovered this place one day while researching best burger places in DC and it came up with such good reviews. I finally got my chance to try it on new years day after waking up in a fog of too much champagne and in desperate need of grease. I corralled my friends who hadn’t made it home the night before out the door and off we all set to DC Grill Express.
The place is definitely built more for takeout than dine-​in, when we arrived around 12:30 we were the only people actually in the restaurant, but as we waited for our food we saw a number of people coming in to pick up orders (many in sweatpants). But the interior is cute and brightly lit and there is seating available. The women working the counter were super friendly and our food was brought to us quickly.
All 6 in my group ordered burgers (all different ones). My burger was solid, it wouldn’t be on my list for best burgers in DC (I reserve that honor for Duke’s Grocery or Ray’s hellburger currently) but it was simple, had fresh ingredients in it, and hit the spot. The real standout though were the fries, they were piping hot and deliciously crispy. If you’re ever craving fries I highly recommend theirs. I can’t speak to other things on the menu but it all looked tasty!
Bottom line, it’s prefect for when you’re looking for decent takeout or a quick bite that won’t break the bank.

Definitely 5 Stars. I was skeptical at first too, but this place does exactly what it sets out to do and does it really, really well.
I had the Club Sandwich, which I expected to be similar to every other club sandwich I’ve ever had, it wasn’t…it was so much better. Not over-​complicated, but a great mix of fresh greens, toasted/​buttered bread and fresh meats and cheese.
I ordered the macaroni and cheese as well and was initially surprised that it added $ 4.99 to my bill (the price is not listed on the menu, that’s my only gripe!). However, after tasting this delicious concoction, I would now return to get another bowl of its $ 4.99 goodness!
All the reviews of the friendliness are true as well, great staff — «have a seat, we’ll bring it out to you» «don’t worry about the trash, we’ll clean it up».
Glad I stopped in and I’ll be back.

Prior to visiting DC Grill Express I scoped it out on Unilocal.There have mainly only been good reviews so I was pretty sure that I would be satisfied with my meal. It may have been an off day or maybe it was just my food considering all of the positive reviews, but I did not enjoy my experience here.
I ordered the mac & cheese and it was some of the worst mac & cheese I have ever had. I looked through Unilocal pictures, and mine looked nothing similar to the pictures of mac & cheese uploaded. What I basically got was a bowl of cheesy soup with some penne in it. It was so watery and tasteless I couldn’t eat it. Also, the cheese they used was American cheese, which in my opinion, is NOT the best cheese to use for mac & cheese. A friend of mine ordered a side of brussel sprouts and let me taste them, however, those were also tasteless and they weren’t even completely cooked.
I would think the other items on the menu may be a lot better. If you’re planning to visit probably stick to the burgers, fries, and quesadillas. those seem to be more of a hit.

Pretty dang good. Fast service, delicious food, solid mgmt. One of the best new additions to the local, economical restaurants in the area.
Decent seating, brightly lit, clean. Menu is simple and straight forward. Breakfast served all day. Cold beer served. Eat in the smallish space or in the outdoor seating, or take out. Super clean and nice restroom (one, unisex).
Eat up and enjoy.

This has quickly become one of my favorite spots to grab a quick bite to eat. Everything I’ve ordered, from burgers to quesadillas to breakfast burritos, has been delicious, and is inexpensive. The staff and owner are super friendly and really brighten up your day. I cannot say enough positive things about this restaurant. It deserves all of the praise it gets!

you’re not going to get anything fancy here but whatever you get will be good. staff was crazy friendly when I went in on a weekday afternoon.

Good food at incredible prices, this place is a solid neighborhood staple. On top of that, just the friendliest, warmest service — they make you feel like you’re in their home, not a quick serve food joint. Definitely check out the steak tacos, super tasty!

I agree with other reviewers that this restaurant is aptly named! It is definitely a small little hole-​in-​the-​wall (though a very clean and nicely kept one) that has a few sit-​down tables inside and a few more outside. The food is standard American burger/​sandwich/​salad fair, with some added mexican options, from the tacos to the Jarritos sodas.
The service is absolutely impeccable here. The guy at the counter, who seemed like he might be the manager, was super friendly and was very happy to chat. He said their burgers were their specialty, so I ordered the guacamole one upon his recommendation.
The burger and fries were less than $ 10! What a steal! The burger meat is Ok; don’t expect any fresh ground patties like those gourmet burger places. But the toppings are delicious and VERY fresh! Loved the fresh greens (I think arugula on mine?) rather than your traditional lettuce topping. The fries are also excellent, super crispy and double-​fried.
Overall this is a place where you will get a decent bang-​for-​your-​buck, hearty and tasty food, and the best service.

It was a cold and rainy night, so I turned to Eat24 for dinner. After scrolling for minutes and reading tons of reviews for other restaurants, I was sold on DC Grill Express. Fresh and delicious food delivered right to my doorstep!
I ordered the mac n cheese, hot wings, and the chicken raspberry salad (for my super healthy fiancé). Everything arrived within 45 minutes. Everything was fresh and tasted delicious! The hot wing entrée comes with twelve wings, so it’s definitely a great bang for your buck!
I will definitely be stopping by to visit the restaurant the next time I am back in town. Till then, enjoy your meal!

Got the Mango Salad with Shrimp. The shrimp was DELICIOUS. I wouldn’t expect it from a little diner place.
Staff was sweet and friendly.
Ate outside, gorgeous day to eat outside.
I would come here again.

My family and I passed by this place and said why not. No regrets!!! The service was so on point. The food was delicious! My family tends to question random restaurants… especially in places we haven’t been to. I have to say everyone that walked in knew what they wanted and left more than happy. The staff is very friendly. The food was delicious. It’s cozy and you feel like you’re at home. I will be back!

I really enjoyed my food at this place. I had grilled salmon with rice and brussel sprouts. I would recommend this place if you are in the neighborhood and want to try something healthy. On top of that, the staff are really nice and friendly.

It was our first time there last night and it was great.
I got a few tacos $ 3 and a margarita $ 5 HH and my daughter got the mac n cheese. The staff was really friendly, playing with my daughter and the food was good. And we also had the fried oreos. OMG they were wonderful! I’ve lived in Mount pleasant for a few years now and Im glad I tried this place. I will def be back!

You guys are probably thinking what i thought. 5 stars? Something can’t be right — probably just not enough reviews. But hey, it’s next to my new favorite phở place so I thought I’d check it out.
Boy am I glad that I did. The place itself is pretty small, with just a couple tables and a TV. It was Tuesday, so there was a special for $ 2 tacos (normally $ 3). I went to Mexico last June so I was hoping for some decent tacos to satisfy my hunger. I ordered 4 (2 fish, 1 chicken, 1 steak) and was not disappointed. Each one came on corn tortillas (hard to find) with a great vinegary pico de gallo.
As others have written, the service was great. The guy behind the counter (I didn’t catch his name) was very friendly, checking up on me in the middle of my quick meal. Though I’ve only been here once so far, I will definitely be coming back soon!

Truly the nicest people who own and work here (family business). A great neighborhood spot with solid and delicious food. Been craving their roasted brussels sprouts since our last visit (so good). And they now serve beer and wine. Hooray! Have yet to try their all-​day breakfasts, but look forward to doing so soon!

i was craving a burger all week and so when sinful saturday rolled around (aka my cheat day), i searched ‘burger’ nearby and came across DC grill.
the food is AMAZING. the service is AMAZING.
i had the chipotle guacamole burger (pepper jack cheese, guacamole, chipotle dressing, lettuce, onion and tomatoes) and it was delicious. it came with fries, too … all for $ 9. the service was also amazing, as everyone who worked here was extremely friendly and personable and made me feel right at home.
definitely recommended if you live in the adams morgan area, and definitely can’t wait to go back.

Stopped by Grill Express today on a whim – it just opened up last Monday, so they’re still getting their sea legs. Incredibly nice proprietors. They offer wings, sandwiches, burgers and other standard American diner fare. Casual environment with a small TV and a few tables. The manager, Jose, and I chatted about their FRIED OREO which I sadly didn’t try.
Today, a bacon cheeseburger, fries, and soda combo was on special for $ 7.95. The burger was fresh and pretty tasty. The fries were those greasy, battered, «Cajun» kind i.e. crispy artery-​clogging deliciousness. The food here won’t blow your mind but it’s reasonably priced and pretty high quality: overall, a great new addition to the neighborhood!
