Is it as good as &pizza? No. As other reviewers have already observed, it is hard to compete with the local giant, particularly the ampersand’s unlimited topping policy, selection, and drinks. This one is in the running for best of the rest though. Notably, they do online orders and delivery, so there’s a convenience factor there that many of the fast assembly pizza places can’t or don’t offer. And when I showed up for mine is was piping hot and they acted like they’d seen an online order before, which is always good. Their topping selection didn’t impress me, but it was well executed, with peppers, mushrooms, and spinach hitting the spot. Among their free finishing options was a sweet chili sauce. Not what I’d usually get on pizza, but it works, possibly because that flavoring works on pretty much anything. Moreover, a plain cheese pizza can get pretty fancy; I got one with a pesto base and sundried tomatoes on top; doesn’t cost much and it’s a nice way to add some variety. Lastly, if you check in on Unilocal, you get a small but delicious cookie for free. They really don’t have anything other than pizza and that cookie, however, they do offer a gluten-free crust and vegan cheese, generally a strength at these fast casual pizza places. All things considered, not bad.

I think if I was just thinking about food I would give this place four stars. The crust is good, the sauce and cheese is fresh, but the rule that you can only add four is a little annoying when you know &pizza let’s you have as many as you want for the same price. Also, I came here last week around 8PM, and the service was kind of rude and slow– I asked her how everything worked and she just shrugged and threw the piece of paper for ordering at me. Then, it took around 10 minutes for our pizzas. Even though there are dozens of signs that say you get your pizza in 3 minutes. THEN, my pizza was missing the pepperoni, one of the four toppings I chose for my pie. Pizza was good, though– just everything else made the experience kind of bizarre.

Recently tried this spot for lunch and have to say I’m a fan. I don’t usually have pizza for lunch, but will come here if I do. I went really late so there was no line which was awesome and the whole process was very quick. The staff were really friendly and the pizza was great. I got a veggie option and it was very filling — I couldn’t eat the whole thing. There are also plenty of choices on the menu which is great. I try not to eat pizza too often, but when I do I’ll be back.

So delicious, I got crust pizza and I loved it so much. Like you eat a lot but you don’t feel heavy after.

Great place for personal-size pizzas if you don’t mind the assembly-line format where the puzza crusts are pulled from a plastic bag of about 25 crusts after being manufactured who-knows-where. They really should put that out of the customer’s sight as it was the only negative about the place I could think of. But a big one that costed a star along with the cashier not knowing how to ring up my free cookie fir having checked in on Unilocal. Minor annoyances on big picture as the pizza is what i came for and I was not disappointed. I love a thin and crunchy(not crispy) crust with good chew, that was not soggy, and that us exactly what I got. The crunchy crust held up well even after being carried a few blocks back to my hotel. I had to practically fight off the other guests in the elevator as the amora from my pizza filled the car with delight(mine, not theirs). Having spent much time devouring pizzas in New York, seeing the crust from the bag really set me back. If that doesn’t bother you, then please consider this a five star review for taste, freshness, and friendliness of the staff. Although I am a visitor to DC, everyone else in the store and on line was a regular and acknowledged by the staff as such. That says a lot about a place.

Totally dig it. The layout is similar to & Pizza, but more efficient. The time they take to assemble the pizza is a little less, the price is a little less and it was way tastier! The options are great, honestly a little less overwhelming and the fixed menu is rock solid. To top it off it’s a locally owned operation(oh and they sell beer at an extremely reasonable price). Sorry & Pizza, you loose this one my friends.

Absolutely in love with this little pizza place! A personalized pizza in less than 5 minutes— it’s perfect. They have a great range of toppings and sauces and finishes. Great for vegetarians and meat lovers alike! I am a big fan of making my own pizza, but I also love their Vegetarian Pizza and their Korean BBQ pizza. To top it all off, everyone is super friendly and gets it done quickly. This is my go-to quick lunch place.

$ 4 flat for a slice of pizza, either plain or with toppings. Fresh basil comes free if you want it. The pizza is thin crust, but still has a nice chewy texture and is perfectly baked. One slice satisfies your craving without the guilt.

Great portion size. Great ingredient/taste. Low price. Takes about 5 minutes for your order to be made. Take advantage of the free toppings like basil and sundried tomatoes. I’d give 5 stars but they don’t offer a more whole grain crust option, which you can get at &pizza and which is a big plus for me.

The best place near work for pizza. You can make your own and the pizza dough is just right. I like to go here when I have a pizza hankering

So So good… I don’t like tomato sauce so I’m so glad I can get a white pizza with my favorite ingredients. The people aren’t the nicest but they aren’t rude… If you are just going to get lunch they are rushing so they are less concerned with pleasantries…

I like the concept of highlighting the ingredients I want on the pizza and handing it to the preparer. As with &pizza, Blaze, Pie5 and others, you can watch them make it and then put it in the oven. If only I had turned over the slip I would have seen the Kim Jong Un Killer Shrimp pizza. Next time I’m in the area I will try this.

I went today just a few minutes after they had first opened. Nobody said hello, even though the place was empty when I walked in. I filled out the sheet with what I wanted on my create-your-own pizza and when I walked to give the employee my «ticket,» she just stared at me and put her hand out. No words were exchanged. So I just waited for my pizza — which took an extra several minutes because there was a large catering order being put together. Nobody said sorry, nobody even acknowledged I was waiting. So eventually I got my pizza and left. For the pizza itself — it was okay. Better than your average pizza joint, probably, but the crust was a little too thin. I’d say go to &pizza if it’s close enough to you.

Like many others I was lucky enough to try DC Pizza for free last week(very generous!!). The staff at DC pizza were very friendly and handled the humongo crowd like champs! The pizza was ready in 3 mins and was exactly what I wanted :) For toppings, since the pizza is at risk of getting soggy if you over-load, I would suggest sticking with 4 max and avoiding add-ons like wing sauce. While I normally prefer a crispy base, I would gladly sacrifice it to get in and out of there in 5 mins(especially during lunch hour). Unfortunately the spicy italian sauce isn’t that spicy — but you can make up for it by adding jalapenos, hot sauce, and pepper flakes(at the end)! I’ll be back to get my fresh pizza fix on-the-go!

I was lucky enough to get a free pizza here on it’s opening day. The service was super fast and friendly, and the pizza was solid. I ordered a pesto pie with a mixture of veggie toppings. I think it was better than &pizza although of course they are pretty much identical. Nice portion, good quality and fresh, diverse ingredients. It definitely fills the pizza void in the Faragut/Foggy Bottom area.

People are going to compare DC Pizza to &Pizza. That is just the bottom line. The two are EXTREMELY similar. The only difference I noticed between the two is that DC gives you a menu to fill out what you want versus &Pizza you tell them directly what you want on your pizza. Both concepts work, but I think having the patron fill out that little piece of paper before you start the order is easier and less time consuming than verbally expressing what you want since you have it written down in front of the pizza maker. Like many others, I was here for the free pizza day on November 13, 2014. I showed up around 10:15am when the line at that point had roughly about 35 people ahead of me. Come around 10:30 the line was wrapping around with close to 100 people. I was very impressed on how they handled the crowd. The staff of DC Pizza were very informative and gave directions very well to everyone in line. It made things simpler since they knew what they were doing. A lot of grand openings I’ve been to have lacked in organization for these huge events … not DC Pizza. It was truly well executed. As far as the pizza itself, I truly loved what I had. I ordered a pepperoni and ham pizza with their 3 cheese blend along with cooked spinach, pineapple, and their sweet tomato sauce. After the pizza was cooked they added gorgonzola, ranch, and oregano oil. It was a truly enjoyable pizza. Hubby had the leftovers and agreed it was pretty dang good. They offer a solid product and the Unilocal rating clearly reflects that. Perfect lunch spot for those of you guys who work in the Farragut area.

Good quick pizza. Come up with your toppings, sauce, and protein… Leave the rest to them. I’d say if you’re into white creamy sauces, the creamy ricotta is decent(needed some salt but good otherwise). Spicy Italian sauce isn’t spicy. Overall good service, friendly, and pretty decent pizza.

Quick. Personal pizza. Lunch. Scrumptious. Not unlike other business models, DC Pizza models after Chop’t, Chipotle, and Shop House. There is a one sized pizza perfect for a lunch or dinner, and depending on your hunger you may or may not have leftovers. The menu allows you a selection of proteins and veggies, up to 4 for a certain price point, and then various additions called«finishers» in unlimited quantities. Three selections of cheese to choose from. You fill out a quick menu, hand it off, and your wait down the pizza construction lines begin. Bakes in 3 minutes. While not the prettiest ever, the basil pesto and pepperoni selection was excellent! Definitely will return, but don’t forget the napkins. Also, there is no indoor dining other than a few stools for waiting. Outside seating available when the weather is good. Under $ 10.

DC Pizza is an «&Pizza» look alike — to those unfamiliar, it’s the«Chipotle of Pizza.» You customize an individual-sized pizza, it’s made from scratch, and it’s ready in 3 minutes, as DC Pizza advertises.(As an &Pizza devotee, excuse the frequent comparisons to come… but hopefully that will provide a basis of comparison for most!). The concept is awesome, especially in a city devoid of good pizza options particularly«by the slice» options), and there’s nothing like it yet in Dupont. You can get a cheese pizza for $ 6.39, or you can add toppings for $ 1 each or up to 4 for a total of $ 8.69. There are also 5 «favorites» listed for $ 8 each. This… isn’t quite as simple as &Pizza’s free-for-all, but I eventually figured it out and decided to go with«The Lisa,» which has anchovies, mushrooms, and onions, along with something called fennel seeds that remains a mystery to me.(You can then«finish» your pizza with whatever you want — basil, spinach, parmesan, cheeses, etc). The pizza itself was… average. I liked the crust and the toppings, but wasn’t a fan of the sauce — it was supposed to be «spicy tomato» but tasted more sweet and processed. I appreciated that they had anchovies(unlike &Pizza) –because, like everyone else in the world, I like anchovies on my pizza! It was probably a decent amount of food for 1 person… less than &Pizza, but a reasonable deal for $ 8. DC Pizza isn’t kidding when they say«Ready in 3 minutes» — there were plenty of friendly staff in front helping explain the system, and giving out cards to fill out. I would have preferred to just pick my toppings once I came up to the counter(so I could see them), rather than filling out a card beforehand. Overall, I’ll give DC Pizza the benefit of the doubt and round up to 4 stars — will try some other sauces next time I am back!
