I tried this place for the first time, meeting with a new friend. The meeting was great! The place is spacious and quiet enough for a conversation. However, I ended up with a bad stomachache. Not sure if it came from the chicken soup or croissant there… I would be careful next time.

I was robbed here(I mean literally robbed, someone took my wallet) and the manager, Samuel, didn’t care ATALL. His response to my report and inquiry about my wallet and request to leave my name and number if it showed up? Not an offer to look at footage, not an OMG I’m so sorry! He said, «We have a pickpocket problem here…» For those of you who love D&B, that part at least is important. Don’t put your bags down.

It’s really good fast food. Everything’s fresh, all the sandwiches I’ve had have been good, plus they’re really close to my office. Is this an «impress your friends» place? Probably not, but really good sandwiches.

Holy 18 dollar lunch batman. I got a regular soup, a side Caesar and an ice tea — total was 18.45!?! WTF? The food was fine — but I felt gouged by the price of the soup(7.25) — which I learned, all have different price points. womp. womp. When I asked for a spoon, the woman behind the counter was filled with super snark and said — its already in the bag but just in case you lose it… here’s another… ok. well I’ll just be on my way then… next time I will pass. I would rather have a sad desk lunch of microwaveable ramen than do this again.

Great service. Sammy the manager is the best I’ve ever seen. The rest of the staff is very friendly. Good selection of soups and made to order sandwiches at your disposal. Can’t beat the location!

So sad that my first Unilocal review is so negative, but here goes. I routinely order from Devon & Blakely for small lunch meetings. They’re frequently later than their online delivery estimate(30 – 45 minutes), but I continue to order from them because the sandwiches are decent, and there aren’t many other lunch delivery options near my office. I ordered 5 sandwiches for my colleagues today; the sandwiches arrived well over an hour after I placed the order. After the delivery person left, I inspected the order and found out that one sandwich was missing.(How hard is it to count to 5??) I called them and gave them my name, and they responded, «oh, yeah… the turkey sandwich?» Which indicated to me that they knew the sandwich was missing… and just weren’t going to do anything about it. When I asked them to please deliver the missing sandwich ASAP, they gave me an estimate of 25 – 30 minutes — unacceptable. The woman then put the manager on the phone, who said it could be delivered in 10 – 15 minutes, but when I inquired about getting some sort of refund for the mistake, the manager said, «uhh, well, if I give you the refund, then I can’t deliver the sandwich.» Now that I know that Devon & Blakely is a) unreliable and b) not interested in customer satisfaction, my organization will not be ordering from them again.

I got the Thai Chicken wrap. Not happy. It is only spicy hot, not flavor full. They used Italian basil instead of Thai Basil. Horrible flavor. And the yogurts sauce is nonexistent along with the cucumber. Apple is too much. But the use of Italian basil just takes the cake.

All D&B’s are the same — good food, quick service but EXPENSIVE. I can’t believe how much a simple salad or sandwich costs. I have an average appetite and I would say a lunch(full sandwich plus an apple) sets me back $ 15. So, I only go there on occasion.

I am soooo mad! I just bought the most disgusting and expensive turkey chili at this place. It is flavorless and the small cup cost a whopping 6 $. Not to sound cheap but that is just too much! The only thing this place wins with me is the price for the most expensive crappy food made in the city. Service is terrible on top of that, the cashier let the chile run over while handling it and did not even bother to clean it. Never going back!

I had their Chicken and Sausage Gumbo. It tasted good but did not like how thinly sliced the meat was sliced and not enough in the gumbo. It had more rice and orka. Also, trying their Thai Chicken Curry for dinner tonight. The small cup sells for $ 6.00, pricey!

While the food is tasty enough, the portions are considerably smaller than at the multiple competitors just a block away. A «large» portioned salad base ought to come with more than a handful of greens, and a sandwich should have more than a couple of slices of meat. It’s not so bad that I won’t go back, but it certainly won’t become my lunch ‘go-to’.

Night and day compared to the Devon & Blakely down by George Washington University for service and ambiance. While the GWU location won’t do decaf iced coffee even though its on the menu, this location will and do it with a smile. There is also much more seating with comfortable padded seats. I’ve only been for breakfast, but it’s a good spot for a bagel and coffee.

When I first came here, they had some pricing inconsistencies, but now it seems like they have things figured out. They are consistent — so 4 stars, but they they raised their prices on chicken unexpectedly — so 3 stars. Hopefully, one day, they get to a point where I don’t feel like I am over playing for chicken, and I get a consistent price.

I don’t understand this place — there’s a case of sandwiches and I pick one and ask that they put lettuce on it. The lady pulls it out of the case and they take it away(I guess there’s some person down behind the case doing additional prep?), and then I wait for 10 minutes. Then they call out my sandwich and hand it to me, all wrapped up. After I paid and left, I open it up and there’s still no lettuce. What the hell was happening during that 10 minutes? Sandwich was good but if you’re gonna have this unusual, secretive food prep after the customer points out the sandwich he wants, at least get it right.

I tend to go for the sandwich option here, and they do no disappoint. Standouts: Blackened chicken gyro, avocado cheddar sandwich, and Cobb wrap. Their chicken is tasty, which is key. Have had soup a couple times — very yummy and more to explore. Haven’t tried salads yet. Baked goods are delicious. Good selection of beverage.

A variety of breakfast selections like bagels with choosing from different homemade looking spreads. I have tried a pastry and it fulfilling. The sizes are big, fruit cups, hard-boiled eggs and breakfast sandwiches all look appealing. I have only had a fruit cup here. Morning there not very busy, but around lunch time is when you see the rush.

**** 3 ½ Stars**** Devon & Blakely is one bakery that has eluded me until recently. It’s not their fault,(well maybe it is), but there isn’t one located near the schools where I work and by the time I get a Devon & Blakely, it’s after work hours, and they are closed for the day. Never giving up on my continued food journey, I had time one morning to stop in for breakfast. Walking inside, it looks like most other bakeries. Pastries are lined up behind glass panes, staff are busily preparing the items for the day. On this particular morning, I stopped in for coffee and decided to get something to eat. Like other bakeries in the area, they have plenty of pastries and items for breakfast. They also have a plethora of soups freshly made, so if you’re stopping for lunch early, they’re ready. I decided on a tea muffin, which is a very large muffin. Almost like a cross between a muffin and croissant, based on texture. Though if the croissant-muffin is a thing now, I am either way behind or on point. In any case, the tea muffin was a tasty sweet pastry, and definitely made it through 2 meals. The staff is friendly is and prepare your order quickly. Which in this town, is a good thing. My only complaint is the music… it was much too loud for 7:30am. But in retrospect, maybe it was their way of waking their customers up.

So I was wandering downtown on the most recent snow day and decided I wanted a hot breakfast. The first place I wanted to try was closed(snow day) and I passed this place on the way, so I backtracked. Kinda wish I hadn’t. I got a simple bacon egg and swiss on croissant and a coffee. The croissant was big, fresh and buttery, but the egg and bacon were really bad. The egg was oily and over cooked. It was more like egg crumbles than an actual scrambled egg. The bacon was all chopped up like it was destined to be salad topping as opposed to in a sandwich. Also, maybe I’m just too novice of a coffee drinker, but do you have to serve it boiling? I burned my tongue on the tiniest sip and that was after a five minute cool down while I ate my sandwich. Perhaps lunch here is better and they have a massive soup selection but right now I need to go lick a flagpole to soothe my burnt tongue.

I’ve been here four times for lunch or a between-errands snack. epic array of sandwiches, and a build-your-salad option that’s very popular, judging from the crazy line for it. delicious soups, and a tower of pastries and British sweets round out the food. this morning I ordered a brioche sandwich – they were out of croissants(which are not brioche, *shrug*), but the server suggested other options. the eggs were on the overdone side, but still a good, basic sandwich. breakfast feels like that thing they added for early crowds; lunch is really their shiny offering to cubicle dwellers. oh, and let’s not forget: PRETZELCROISSANTS. yum.
