Delicious, authentic, and reasonably priced. As someone from Los Angeles, I was searching far and wide for good tasting tacos and I found them here with the carne asada tacos. I will definitely be returning soon, as the service was friendly, the food was fast, and the overall atmosphere was pretty cool.

District Taco is okay and it is slightly expensive for authentic mexican tacos. Anyhow, this one is located near Foggy Bottom so it does get a lot of customer traffic and due to this the upkeep is not on par although service is fast. There’s a new one in Rosslyn and maybe that was in cleaner, but this location isn’t as pristine as the original one in DC.

Delicious Mexican food! The Huevo Racheros are my go-to for a filling breakfast. The size of the burritos are not quite the size of Chipotle, but definitely not lacking in taste. Definitely worth the try and the wait in line. Salsa bar is also delicious and helps fulfill my spicy urges.

The 3 fish tacos are delicious just a little messy because of the chipotle sauce oozing out. This can probably be avoided by requesting less sauce but either way they are tasty and a must have.

For me DT is OK. Definitely not my fav Mexican food in town, but also not bad. This location is large and has a lot of seating which is nice. I used to go to the Metro Center one a ton(with coworkers and whatnot) and during the lunch rush it was a struggle to find a table. I normally get tacos at Mexican joints and DTs have never impressed me. The flavors are always very underwhelming for me. My hubby, on the other hand, always gets either huevos rancheros, which I’ve never ordered but I’ll admit look pretty good, or a burrito, and he really likes it. But this is my Unilocal account and for me DT is just OK. And actually, it’s been annoying me a lot lately that they haven’t been accepting the LevelUp app to pay for about 2 months… they keep telling me their internet is down. Fix it!

To give you some background, I’m from LA, which has some of the best Mexican food in the world. I would dare to say it rivals Mexico’s own home grown. So I hold Mexican food to a high standard. Of all the Mexican places I’ve eaten at in DC, this is right there near the top or at the top of that list. I ordered a Burrito Mojado, which is just a burrito covered in sauce, I always get the steak because it’s has all of the best qualities of a delicious steak. Cooked thoroughly, has a teeny bit of char, and a soft but flavorful texture. Usually, I can’t make up my mind what I want so I order two things, and usually the second item is their Nachos Barrachos. Man. The Queso cheese in the nachos, is straight laced with crack. When I eat at District Taco it’s, an internal struggle with gluttony. So overall, if your going to eat at one Mexican place in DC, this is it. Also, their seafood special days, are exciting because it just goes to show how fresh their food really is since they only have it on limited days.

So it’s really more like 3.5 stars– but I was genuinely surprised at the quality of my tacos. Maybe it was the low expectations… maybe it was the hunger… but I’m glad I gave District Tacos a chance. Got 3 shrimp tacos for $ 9 and you’re able to load it with as many toppings as you want. I wanted to try their cilantro lime rice and also got the fresh veggies and jalapenos. The tacos were pretty packed and I probably could have stopped at 2 … but what the heck, it would have gotten soggy anyway. :) I don’t think this will be my go-to taco place(my fav is still the hole in the wall taco truck in Arlington) but is a good alternative for a weekday lunch with co-workers.

Three-ish. I like that the place is consistent, and there is a ton of seating, but the smaller-than-a-hand-grenade sized tacos I keep getting here aren’t all that fun. The flavors are okay, but I’d say inoffensive is safe. Having the bar full of cilantro, lime, pico and salsas is the saving grace. This reminds me of how White Castle used to be back in the day. You’d get a sack of ten and then go to the fixin’s bar and load up with onions and lettuce and whatever. I do that here with every taco to improve the flavor and sorta justify the price. It’s a safe choice, leaving me simply whelmed, neither under or over.

My meal here was so boring and lackluster. The price was nice, but the food was so so. The tacos were the standard taste with usual toppings, though nothing was especially noteworthy. The queso was not good at all and tasted jarred. Also the salsa bar was dirty and could have used a nice wipe down. I came at an off hour and the employees were gabbing away and not too concerned with the messy tables around me either. People really seem to love District Taco but I can’t see why. There was nothing here that I can’t find at Chipotle or Qdoba.

Not bad for Mexican food(when I’m used to truly good Mexican food in California), and I like that there are some vegan and gluten-free options. I ended up coming here to just for a quick snack as opposed to a full meal, and I only got one vegetarian taco. It came on two small corn tortillas(which I asked for instead of the wheat tortillas) and the vegetarian tacos have the option of adding free guacamole. There are also a handful of different additional toppings. There’s also a small salsa bar with a couple of mild salsas, and medium-hot one, and a spicy-hot one. A great way to customize your food. Very tasty and flavorful. I would definitely come back.

Pretty underwhelmed about this place. I had been wanting to go since I’ve heard good things but was disappointed. It’s just like chipotle except not better. I got the Carnitas tacos and they were a wet mess. Someone needs to tell their staff that you’re not supposed to put all the water that the meat has in the taco! Needless to say it was super soggy and falling apart. The salsa bar is a cool idea and I did like that but i don’t think i’ll be back. Onwards continues the search for a decent taco in this city.

While visiting DC and on my way to Chipotle I walked by District Taco and decided to try something new. This is a counter service restaurant similar to Chipotle or Qdoba. You walk in and order/pay. Unlike the other similar places, you tell them what toppings you want while paying first. The food was excellent. Better than Qdoba, and maybe even slightly better than Chipotle. The flavors here are definitely more authentic than the other places. They have a salsa bar with a ½ dozen or so salsa choices and it is self serve so you can have as much as you want. Overall, the place was clean, the food was good and authentic and the variety was better than all the other quick serve Mexican places. Next time I will get the tacos Mexican style, the flavors of the pico reminded me of tacos in Guatemala!!!

This place is a great option for lunch or dinner. I came for dinner on a Thursday night. It wasn’t too busy and we got our food quickly. I had three tacos, one with canitas, one with chicken, and one with steak. They were all tasty, but the chicken one was my favorite. I also got a small order of chips and queso which was definitely enough for two people. They have a salsa bar, which was pretty cool and seemed like they were made in house. Overall I had a great experience here. The only reason for four stars instead of five, is the tortilla chips were a bit bland if you didn’t dip them in anything.

Not bad. It’s like Chipotle, but with queso and fish tacos. The salsa bar was tasty and the fountain water was super cold. I liked these things especially. My opinion is probably a bit skewed because I came here during DC Pride weekend and I was so hot from rehearsal for marching in the parade that I could have eaten lava and thought it was refreshing.

I am a huge fan of Chipotle, but when I travel I always eat local. I needed something fast and District Taco was close to my hotel. I’ve tried my share of Chipotle style restaurants and am almost always disappointed. District Taco was an exception! I ordered the Carne Asada Burrito Bowl and a Cane Cola Soda. The good: Amazing flavor! The Carne Asada was so flavorful! I REALY enjoyed the fresh pico, cilantro and jalapeños! I was so excited about the salsa bar, but didn’t actually use much salsa because the bowl was so tasty! The not so good: It was not busy when I went(2 people ahead of me in line), but it took almost 10 minutes from the time I ordered to the time I received my food. I wish they would rethink the setup and let you build you bowl as you go(you have to preorder your meat and toppings). Lastly, they are stingy on the meat! The serving is HUGE but it’s mostly rice and beans.

Order 3 tacos, one topped American style, one Mexican style, and a third with my choice of toppings. They have a decent 3 tacos for $ 8 deal, and on 4 days of the week, you can also get 3 fish or shrimp tacos for $ 9. I liked how the customers had the option to choose the meat and up to 3 toppings for each taco to tailor it to their own tastes, but even with that, the tacos didn’t blow me away. Additionally, they served the tacos by wrapping them individually in tin foil, and though it made taking tacos to-go much easier, I planned to dine in and was not impressed with the presentation. This place is a great option for lunch breaks, but you won’t find the best tacos in town here. Tip: Avoid this restaurant during popular Mexican holidays. Came here on Cinco de Mayo and the line was out the door. Had to wait around 40 minutes before finally getting my food. If I had come here on any other day, the experience probably would have been more pleasant, but this place had a hard time keeping up with the crowds on special holidays.

I’ve been to two of the District Taco locations now(M St NW and F St NW) and they both suffer from the same issue. The refusal to serve a normal sized portion of meat with the burrito bowl. It has to be an underhanded attempt to get you to pay for double meat. Has to be. And I do. I’m forced to pay for double meat or I find myself scrounging for meat in my bowl before being even a 1⁄3 of the way finished with my meal. I even find myself running out of meat sometimes when I pay for double. You should be better than that District Taco. The food itself is good just expect to pay more for what you would normally get elsewhere or be prepared to still be hungry in the not too distant future after you eat.

This was my first time at District Taco. I used to work near the location at 13th and F and it always had a line out the door at lunch… and I heard it was absolutely worth the wait. My first warning was the fact it was peak dinner time and this place was empty. The servers and manager were really nice. We got an order of nachos and a burrito bowl. The bowl was huge but tons of rice and fillers… not so much actual meat. the nachos were also huge but too simple. I wanted to like them both more but the quality was just ok. No better or worse than chipotle. I certainly wouldn’t have waited in line for it. I don’t know if this place is different by location but overall I was content. Huge portion, standard price, but did not live up to the hype.

I love Mexican food. It pains me to know that there is currently no taco emoji on my iPhone. I am obviously a fan of Chipotle, and have had some of the most glorious tacos in LA(Tacos Leo/Kogi), and I will say that District Taco is my favorite place in DC to get my fix. I don’t stray from my usual, which is the Burrito Desnudo(Burrito Bowl). I get this with no beans, American way toppings(cheese, pico, lettuce), with half steak and half al pastor(DON’T FORGETTHEPINEAPPLES). So. Much. Good. There’s a salsa bar with salsas of varying levels of spiciness, onions, cilantro, and limes. I think this salsa bar is really what sets it apart from other places on the east coast(e.g. Chipotle). I always get extra pico to add to my bowl and a million limes because… I love limes. I promise you, the portions are pretty big for the price, but you won’t want to stop eating, even if your stomach tells you to… The seating in this store is great, and they have free wi-fi(huzzah)! They keep the store clean, which is awesome. The staff have always been friendly, so no complaints there. My only complaint is that they’ve forgotten my pineapples two out of four times I’ve been here. I understand once, but twice? Come on, guys… And the second time I was there I ordered a LARGE side of guac, but they gave me a small on top of the missing pineapples. :/Minus one star for you guys.

YO I had maybe the best plate of nachos I’ve ever had in my life here! I came here at around 8pm on a weeknight, having not really eaten all day… The restaurant was pretty empty, so there was no line. I was immediately drawn to the Nachos Borrachos, which are $ 8 nachos with black beans, cheese, guac(if you’re vegetarian!), sour cream, and an INFINITEAMOUNTOFTOPPINGS. So I loaded up on pretty much every topping they had there, and then some at the! awesome! salsa bar – I ended up with a pretty hefty DELICIOUS plate of nachos! The chips are thin but really flavorful. All the vegetable toppings are actually legitimately fresh-cut, and you can taste it. The salsa bar’s salsas were also ALL incredible. I just, like, LOVE nachos and I have nothing bad to say. Only half the plate filled me up(which, since I hadn’t eaten all day… is impressive), and I was able to box the rest to go home(except ugh soggy nachos, amirite?) I can’t wait to come back for more nachos… and try pretty much everything else on the menu!
