Errick McAdams Personal Training

Echoing all of the previous reviews… Errick is THE MAN!!! I can not emphasize this enough! I met Errick during a yoga retreat last year where he led the running and fitness classes, and within the first half hour of the work out, I knew he was the real deal. He truly cares about people and getting to know them on a deep level: their goals, their history, and how to get them motivated. I loved working out with him so much that I changed my entire weekend schedule around to include one of his classes each day and brought my mom along for the experience! He made my entire weekend. His positive attitude is contagious, his energy is fantastic (and non-​stop!), and his workouts are awesome.
But it didn’t stop there! I live in California, on the other side of the country with a three hour time difference, and I still get motivational and supportive texts from him regularly! He keeps me in the game, and will even send over work outs and eating tips. If you are anywhere close enough to train with him, do yourself a huge favor, and DO IT!!! Your outlook on fitness and training will never be the same, and you will gain an amazingly positive trainer, coach, mentor, and friend.

If I could, I would rate higher than 5 stars! I found Errick on Unilocal about 3 months ago and I am SOOOOO glad I did. When Errick and I first started training together, I had just turned 23 and I had decided I wanted to take my fitness and wellbeing more seriously. We worked out twice a week together and our sessions were always the highlights of my week! He’s hilarious, uplifting, patient, and really takes your thoughts and goals into account when he plans the workout. (For instance — My ankle was sore so instead of doing the jump rope like he had planned, we switched to the elliptical and lower-​impact cardio; Errick said: «The best part of working out is that there’s always something else you can do instead!»)
The exercise routines were different EVERY TIME (I seriously don’t know how he does it) and every time was fun. He pushed me beyond my personal limits to achieve more, and helped me better understand what working out was all about — now when I go to the gym on my own I actually know what I’m doing and I have a clear purpose for my workouts. I will definitely aim to meet up with Errick more in the future and I suggest you do too!

Errick is nothing short of fantastic. He challenges you and helps you achieve goals you never thought possible. He’s funny and engaging — by far the best trainer in the district.

Errick has been my trainer for over a year (and for my wife well over two years). I work-​out with Errick once a week. Of all of the trainers I have worked with over the years (about five trainers in total), Errick is far and away the best. Errick has three characteristics that make him the best. They are: knowledge, attitude and character.
Regarding knowledge, Errick takes the time to assess your strengths and weaknesses. He’s an expert in how the body works, so the exercises he has me do always make sense for my goals. (BTW, as the true professional that he is, he knows my needs far better than I do. I have what I think is a fairly typical body for a 40-​something year old.) He devises exercises, drills and conditioning programs that I could never come up with, and he’s constantly changing them. The reason he does that is because he believes — rightly — that there are diminishing returns in too much repetition, so it’s key to keep changing the program. This makes for a great work-​out, and it also means there’s never a dull moment. We’re always doing something different.
Errick’s attitude and energy are similarly fantastic. It’s contagious. It has a motivating effect which is exactly what you want in a trainer. Errick also knows the right things to say to keep me moving and trying my hardest. It’s positive reinforcement at its best. The result is a workout with a far higher output than you could get on your own or via the web, which, in my mind, is one of the main reasons to hire a trainer.
Finally, Errick’s inside (character) is as solid as his outside. He believes that each of us have limitless potential, but not in a foofy or flaky way. This too is motivating, and up-​lifting. It makes for great coaching. Contrast that to some trainers /​coaches /​managers, etc. who try to motivate by breaking people down. Errick is the opposite of that.

I’ve been working out with Errick for a couple of months now, and I can’t say enough good things about him. He’s easy to talk to and doesn’t balk at being peppered with questions. He truly wants you to get the most out of each session (and no two sessions are ever the same, thanks to his forethought, planning, and creativity!). I am constantly amazed that the days that I walk into a training session feeling low and unmotivated often wind up being the best workouts! I am definitelt seeing results from the workouts (and his regular encouragement to eat clean definitely helps!), but this guy has a GIFT — both as a trainer, and (I would argue) a friend — to bring out the absolute best in people. If you’re looking for a personal trainer, drop everything and contact Errick!

When searching for a personal trainer in DC, I discovered Errick on Unilocal.I am pleased to say that these reviews were spot on.
He is a talented and hard working trainer that knows how to push you hard but not over the edge. I’ve noticed immediate results and he is very good about challenging you to beat your current best records.
Errick is constantly reminding you to combine your diet with your workout. As he says, you cannot out exercise a bad diet. And he genuinely tries to follow up and make sure you are making good choices at meal time.
If you are looking to invest in your good health, look no further than Errick. I’ve never exercised harder but he makes each workout unique. Not only is he a great trainer, he’s an even better person.

Where do I start… First let me start by saying that everyone who has been blessed enough to actually be trained by Errick, they are truly blessed. I am waiting for my turn. While I have not yet had an opportunity to become an official athlete on team EMPT, I am on the bench waiting for a starting position ;-) …While I’ve been waiting, I’ve lived vicariously through Unilocal reviews on him and I follow his web site. SO instead of waiting for him to be able to get me going, I started going myself, using his tips and motivational mantras… I figured, if he can do it, so can I… I’ve started «Hydrating before caffeinating»…“I keep good food, so I can eat good food”…I remember the sound advice given to him from his mom…“I can have ANY thing I want, but not EVERY thing I want”…I «don’t diet, I eat what is best for MY body»…As a result of the Lord allowing me to come across Errick McAdams, I started to take charge of my health and began my journey towards a stronger, healthier Janine. I’ve been cycling regularly and have lost 22 pounds and I feel great. I’m not done, I’m going to «get it, get it, get it!!!» and «keep pushing hard!!!» It’s too bad Errick can’t get paid for motivation and inspiration, because if he did, he’d be a millionaire a few times over. :-)

I can’t begin to describe how great Errick is. Everything from the previous reviews is true. You will see results and you won’t be disappointed. But the awesome part is — he keeps you motivated. He believes in you when you don’t think you can and he let’s you know it. He handles everything you throw at him with incredible grace and optimism. (I know because I’ve thrown it all, from stoic to lazy to grumpy.) He just doesn’t give up on you. And his optimistic daily notes help keep you focused on the goal.
After three months, I have upper body strength for the first time in my life (I have never been able to do push-​ups before now). And his attention to my formerly severely-​broken (and still healing) leg helped get me past hurdles I couldn’t clear before (I’ve tried multiple times). He checks in with you on doctors’ advice after appointments. He listens to you when you tell him something doesn’t feel right, hurts, or is straining; and he changes the game plan while still achieving the end goal. Incredible trainer, coach, and human being!

You’ll see some consistent themes in the reviews here. And, I’ll second them. Errick’s not just a trainer. He’s a friend and a cheerleader and the person who kicks your ass — even when you’re in the worst mood, he brightens your outlook on life. Sure, he increased my endurance and my muscle definition… but some days, just getting that text to say hi or «stay in the game» was what was the difference between derailing and the motivation to move forward.
Also, if you travel a lot, he’s great with being flexible on scheduling — and texting you workouts to do in your hotel room.

Errick McAdams is not an ordinary trainer.

Working out with him though, changed my life.
I’ve worked out with trainers before, but no one compares to Errick McAdams. In three months, we reached my goal weight before my brother’s wedding, and I crushed all previous personal running records in the Annapolis Ten-​Miler. I even completed my first duathlon, shaving nearly 20 minutes off my projected finish time.

I’ve never written a Unilocal review before, but people deserve to know the greatness of Errick McAdams!
Errick is a phenomenal trainer and awesome person. I trained with Errick for about two months and never felt healthier or more confident than when I was following his plan. Errick works you hard and encourages clean eating. IT WORKS. I lost weight, toned muscle and am stronger than I can ever remember. If I hadn’t moved to a new city, I would keep training with him for as long as possible. There aren’t enough good things to say.
Errick is truly invested in your personal success. On days you don’t meet, a text message reminder to make healthy choices will encourage you to stay on track. You set goals together and work hard to reach them. This isn’t just some one-​size-​fits-​all program… He will learn your limits and strengths as you train and push you as hard as he knows YOU can go. He does it all with a smile and energy that make you want to push through that one last rep to make him proud. He switches up your routine constantly so you never get bored or tired of the same old thing. He’s also a genuinely good person and cares about his athletes. You won’t be just another client passing through.
I could go on and on about how amazing he is, but long story short: If you want to train with a genuinely awesome person who is invested in reaching your personal goals, train with Errick. You WILL get results and you will NOT regret it.

I was on an airplane yesterday and was thinking that an update for Errick was overdue. I’ve been training with Errick for almost 9 months now. In those 9 months, I created new fitness goals and achieved them. Errick’s charisma is infectious. He truly wants to see you succeed, maybe even more than you do! He’s totally your biggest and loudest cheerleader. Hashtag, proud trainer!
I reached my initial goal weight, in about 2 months, which meant losing over 30lbs. It was hard hard work. Not going to lie. But staying focused, and knowing Errick had my back no matter what, be during a squat, or walking in feeling guilty because I ate something I probably shouldn’t have, everything eventually became my new habits. Good habits this time. We’re now in a different gear where I’m trying to add more muscle on while staying lean.
One of the things I credit Errick for, is lighting the fire under me to «Get it!». To learn to be confident and believe in myself. I showed up to my first session unable to run a mile. Actually, I don’t think I’d ever been able to run a mile straight through. That first day took me about 11 minutes. I’ve managed to shave off more than a third of that now. I hate running, I really do, but I loved seeing the improvement. So much that with Errick’s encouragement, I ran my first race ever! I ran the Rock n Roll 5k, and didn’t do half bad if I say so myself! I still hate running though, but man that feeling when you finish is addictive. I have a new goal to eventually run a half marathon.
One of Errick’s qualities that truly makes him the best at what he does is he’s empathic. He truly cares about his «athletes» and takes the time to get to know them. This is important. He knows exactly how to get me pumped when I need a little extra push, like the right song at the right moment. Can you say Britney Spears «Work B****»?!
Of course, you do have to do the work. You have to stay focused on what your goals are. He can only do so much. So if you are serious about living a healthy lifestyle, and looking hot while doing it, Errick IS your man.
Now circle back to being on airplane yesterday. I’m sitting there with plenty of time to think. It was my 30^th birthday. I spent the weekend with 7 friends in Las Vegas, Errick included. I showed up to Vegas closing out my 20’s. I got to enter my 30’s in the best shape and most confident I’ve ever been in my entire life. Errick helped get me there, and I feel so fortunate to have become friends with such an amazing person. Hashtag team EMPT.

I had followed Errick on social media for a while before I finally had the opportunity to train with him, during a business trip to the D.C. area (I live in New York). I was psyched to meet him in person and he did not disappoint!
He graciously accommodated my work schedule, meeting me for a 5am session during which he put me through my paces — bodyweight and dumbbell circuits, followed my some machine work and guided treadmill work, finishing with a great stretch. He corrected some form issues I’d been having and talked me through increasing my running speed; more importantly, the session was motivational and fun, due to his infectious optimism and fun personality.
Since my session, we’ve stayed in touch — Errick treats his «athletes» like friends, and his upbeat text messages have a knack for arriving just when you need a mini pep talk, or when you have a fitness accomplishment to celebrate. Every time I get my butt outside in the cold Brooklyn winter for an early-​morning run, or get back on the horse after a bad-​eating week with some «beastmode» workouts, I know Errick will be there to congratulate me with a signature «UUUUURAH!!!» and it’s like he’s still coaching me.
More than an awesome trainer, he’s an awesome dude. Can’t wait until my next D.C. trip (or until he expands his training to the New York area)!!

The best at what he does. The man lives, breathes, and eats fitness. Not «feeling it» today? Just wait till you get a random text mid morning with just the inspiration you need. If he wasn’t such an awesome physical trainer, I have no doubt he’d be a motivational speaker or life coach.
Working out with Errik is never dull, bc he’s constantly switching up your routine, and exposing you to new things.
I see a bunch of trainers working with other people in my gym, and I can honestly say none of them hold a candle to Errik. While those other guys are just counting off reps, Errik is putting in work WITH you. He’ll run alongside you, get down and join you for burpees (while talking, no problem), and somehow keep you going till the end of your session. Whether or not you have the strength to walk home afterwards, is on you.

There is a reason why Errick has so many 5 star ratings… it’s because he is literally the best at what he does. I had worked out with Errick for about 2 years when I had to move away from the DC area for 2.5 years — when I moved back 3 months ago, the first thing I did was call Errick and set up training sessions. Seriously he is that good! One of the things I appreciate most is that he changes things up — there isn’t a «set routine» — your body doesn’t get «used to» working out with him and plateau because he’s always changing it up and pushing you in just the way you need to be pushed.
He’s an incredible motivator without being annoying, if you know what I mean. Errick’s authenticity and dedication to living a healthy, full life oozes out of his body, and it’s infectious.
I could go on and on but I think you get the picture. If you want the best personal trainer and you want results it’s a no brainer, Errick’s the trainer you want.

give yourself a gift, actually the greatest gift you are likely to give yourself, and stop reading my review and call errick immediately. since you are looking at reviews, you are getting serious about changing your life. errick will be your partner in that change.
since starting with errick, i’ve lost 30 pounds in three months and feel better than i have in over 20 years. i actually have abs again. physically, i feel like i’m back in high school. strong and fit, but now i actually have some wisdom to combine with it. look out world!
dramatic life change isn’t too strong a tag line for errick. having recently visited my family, they couldn’t believe how much younger i looked, nor how present i had become. in fact, i have inspired at least three other people to start working out and taking care of themselves simply based on my own changes.
errick’s approach is total immersion. he changes the workout every time, makes it fun (even at 5am), and is engaged and interested in you as a human being. he supports you during the day with text messages and amazingly inspiring tweets.
i wake up at 4:30am excited to meet errick at 5am. my life is so much better because i have met errick and committed to training with him.

Errick is the first personal trainer I have ever had. I have worked out with him now for almost 2 and a half years. It is not an exaggeration to say that he changed my life.
I am moving to San Francisco in a few weeks and I am truly devastated to be leaving Errick. I wish I could put him in my pocket and bring him with which is why I wanted to write this review.
He is not only professional, incredibly knowledgable about exercises, movement, anatomy but he also has an incredible energy and spirit that could motivate a wall to do 30 burpees without stopping.
In my 2.5 years with him, working out an average of 2 – 3 times per week, I have never had the same work out. The variety of his workouts is awesome and he knows how to tailor a workout to the person in front of him. Before even saying hello to me in the morning he sees me and can see how things feel and determine if we are going to do a killer run, weight session, boxing whatever. Every time he is right and it’s exactly what I needed. It’s always hard, challenging and leaves you feeling 10 times better than when you got there. I call him a mood shaker — and that is exactly what he is.
He calls his trainees, athletes which I find incredibly motivational. When I started working out with him, I was already a runner and a pilates instructor. I am a fitness professional and can motivate myself. But working out with Errick has brought my fitness level, mood and spirit to a totally different level.
The workouts are effective because Errick pushes each person to their limits every single. They aren’t workouts you would do on your own and they are always workouts just for you.
He sends awesome, motivational text messages and Facebook posts to all his athletes. He always follows up. The way he lives his life is a perfect example of the wisdom he bestows on his athletes.

Errick is the best, and he has changed the way I live. The first time I went to see him (at a friend’s recommendation), Errick asked, «When was the last time you got your heart rate up?» and I literally couldn’t remember. Now I’ve been seeing him for over a year, and the idea of going two consecutive days without exercise makes me feel a little antsy (though now I usually exercise on my own).
In addition to changing my lifestyle by essentially teaching me how to exercise (and love it), Errick changed me from a slender person with no muscle tone to a strong, slender person with muscle tone.
I find it difficult to believe there could be a better trainer out there. Every workout is different, and every workout is as hard as it can be without leaving you weaker than you were when you showed up. He is also just a nice person to spend an hour with a few times a week.

Errick is a wonderful person as well as a top-​notch professional. It Is a true pleasure spending 1 hour, 2 – 3 x a week with him. I highly recommend training with Errick.
No two workouts are alike with Errick, so you learn many ways to get your heart rate up. I now have a ton of options to use on my own time. He changes the venue a lot so as to avoid monotony. That’s a great thing for someone like me who bores easily.
