Flava At Wa-Zo-Bia

Damn, I loved Flava’s the previous times I had been here and I thought I wasn’t that drunk, but my last experience (also relatively sober) was truly nauseating.
it had always taken long to get your order, around 45 minutes, but this trip it took an hour and a half. To get the wrong order. Because the bartender served someone else yours. And wouldn’t admit it…
Then they tried to charge us for the wrong order.
I would have maybe looked past all this if the Doug Williams Wings and the MLK Molten Mac and Cheese where as good as I had remember. However, the Mac n Cheese showed up in brick form and colder than room temperature. I waited an hour and a half for cold food? You couldn’t even microwave it? The wings were thin and meatless and also room temperature. Why even serve food if this I’d what you’re offering?
This is a black bar and being the only non black person in here you’d think it would be easy to know which order was mine. After speaking with the bartender and some other lady (I think the cook, maybe the manager) they brushed me off with a flick of their hands.
Their only redeeming quality is that somehow you can still order alcohol until close, which is around 6 or 7 AM.

Went on a Sunday evening to hang with a friend (she is a regular). I had a great time! The service is great. The drinks are awesome. The bartenders/​staff are all SUPER friendly.
If you want a place to get good drinks, good food, good service, and lots of laughs, definitely check this place out. It’s quaint and off the radar, but the staff makes up for it with their big personalities.
Definitely will be going back.

The employees at The Howard Theater (next door to Flava) recommended it as an after hours place to eat after a show. The food here is actually very good (3 ½ stars) and so is the service. Everything is made to order with a lot of love and flavor. The restaurant itself could use a facelift, but it really is like being at a family function. Everyone is friendly, playful, and at the same time, they keep it real. You just have to get beyond the «ambiance» of the restaurant to appreciate it, but the food really is tasty.
