Petworth location: They absolute DRIEST baked goods you will ever eat(and I’ve tried more times than I could have). I mean DRY! I know they’re a bakery, but do not get the baked foods. Everything else is decent, but they 99% of the time the jack up my order. I used to go there for lunch and breakfast before work. So I really can’t spare the time for them to redo my for or rush back to work to discover that I’m missing something or the order is wrong, and having to return it. I can bank on them screwing my order up. Once, i called there just before they actually opened and placed my order and they STILL jacked it up. ITWASTHEIRFIRSTORDEROFTHEDAY! Needless to say, though the food is OK, it’s not worth the risk.

I hate that I live next door to this place because it means I’m mere feet away from some of the best bagel sandwiches I’ve ever had. Everything bagel with bacon and avocado? Yes. I usually get it to go because the last few times the AC wasn’t working.

$ 7.69 for a bacon, egg, and cheese croissant?!? Are you mad?! For that price, it should come with a side and a drink at least! This is what I get for trying to have a cheat meal. In their defense, it was a huge croissant, although it wasn’t toasted so it fell apart as soon as I picked it up. It was still very tasty, but I would most likely not order this expensive thing again unless someone else was covering the bill.

I live across the street and this place hits the spot for a good Honduran breakfast. I’ve ordered the baleadas every time I’ve come here and they really hit the spot. For those who don’t know the dish, baleadas are sort of like a breakfast quesadilla, tortillas filled with eggs, beans, cheese, crema and avocado. My only complaint is that the prices are a bit high. But delicious neighborhood breakfast spot!

Very average croissant breakfast sandwich. It didn’t have a distinctive flavor, just a bunch of standard ingredients heated up inside a not so good croissant. You know, kinda mushy? It was over $ 5 too, which is too expensive.

The food is good but the prices have become outrageous over the last 2 to 3 years. I used to eat here almost every day when I first started working nearby and I haven’t eaten there in almost a year now because the prices have gone up by $ 1−2… $ 12 for tuna salad sandwich and a bottled drink?! Nah bruh. not happening to me again… the deuces have been chucked.

While the atmosphere was pleasant and the staff was attentive, the food was simply terrible. We had the Chicken and Waffles and the Biscuits and Gravy. The Chicken and Waffles consisted of Buffalo wings and waffle mix that could only have been from Costco. The biscuits were clearly store bought and the gravy tasted almost exclusively of pepper. We also tried their sausage patties, which had a extreme chemical taste and were also obviously store bought. We will not be returning.

Love the tortas, they’re actually the size of an adult eastern box turtle. I get one almost every week which is somewhat terrifying but ooooh well. They’re nice to their regulars who are nice to them. Hater reviews complaining about price hikes are privileged a-holes who don’t understand the consequences of gentrification. A meal for ~$ 9 with a drink is still a good deal for you, you community displacing, property-owning jerk.

much, much Higher Prices! I’ve been to Flip-It on Georgia Ave. NW a few times for a coffee/breakfast/lunch over the last year or so and have had an overall good experience each time. The good experience was due to high quality food at a reasonable rate. However, today I went in for lunch and realized that they have recently increased their prices significantly($ 3-$ 4) per main item and have really skimped out on the portions. This is pretty disappointing. The food is still good but I will no longer consider this a normal breakfast/lunch spot. It’s priced way to high for the amount of food you get. It’s as if the place is getting a bit greedy and thinks they can get away with whatever price they come up with.

I used to eat at this place two and three times a day while I was renovating my house in petworth. The food was good and there wasn’t much else around. Yeah so they messed up my order more than half the time. Yeah so occasionally the staff would curse at the customers and vice versa. It was a nice clean place with good food. Recently their prices have gone out of control they literally raised everything by 50% –not an exaggeration. They raised the prices so much that half the time when they ring up my order I cancel it because it costs too much. Today I came in and as I was ordering with one employee another employee who said that her name was Beatrice rushed over and said«make sure you know the price before you order». I can’t even believe it. I will never eat here again and I will tell all my friends neighbors and tenants to steer clear.

Great local place in Petworth! Good breakfast and lunch place. A bit pricey compared to others but very cool local breakfast, lunch, or coffee place!

Good solid place for a quick breakfast. Service is fast and friendly and it never gets too crowded. My go-to order is the grilled cheese on rye with tomato and bacon and a side of home fries. Best grilled cheese outside of the one my boyfriend makes at home :) He is a fan of the breakfast sandwiches or French toast. Definitely check it out.

I walk in and wasn’t acknowledged by the employee. He was on the phone reading some numbers and barely looked up at me. I hung around and look at the menu for a few minutes… all I wanted was a cup of coffee. I left.

Rhode Island Ave location: I was very pleasantly surprised The outside looks kind of cheesy in my opinion, but don’t let that sway your decision. When I drove by before i didnt give it a second glance or thought, but i recently moved nearby so i wanted yo try it out. Glad i did. The interior is super cute – I kind of felt like we were eating at someone’s house, in a good way. The waiter was friendly. The menu and prices are great. I had a delicious build-your-own omelet with home fries and toast for only $ 6.50. There is outdoor seating as well.(Not sure if you get waiter service out there or if you just get your food to go and then have a seat there.) If you like diners I recommend Flip It.

Excellent sandwiches. I had the BLT which has plenty of crispy bacon. My wife says the tuna salad is the best she has had in DC. The desserts, which everyone races about, were pretty good too. Some of the donuts looked really good, but we haven’t tried yet.

It has been awhile since I came across a local non-chain restaurant that actually offered great food, good service and decent prices. Well, welcome to Flip It Bakery. Located on a major roadway(Georgia Ave.) in DC., it’s found right on the corner where Georgia Avenue and Buchanan Street meet. It’s a colorful restaurant that operates in a clean, well kept and small space. The service is good as the staff is polite and accommodating. Flip It has a variety of breakfast and lunch foods and offer both American fare and Latin dishes. They also have a variety of desserts. Along with my dining buddy we ordered a Steak and Cheese sandwich, Turkey Club sandwich, Home Fries and Cheese Papusas. The Steak and Cheese sandwich was good. Everything was fresh including the bread. The sandwich was light and wasn’t dripping of grease like at other places. The steak was tender and the cheese made for a great complement. The Home Fries were not traditional in that they were not individually sliced up potatoes. Instead, they were mashed up but kept in a lumpy format as opposed to creamy like mashed potatoes. The home fries were well seasoned, which made for flavorful bites. The serving size was fairly large. The Cheese Papusa is a traditional El Salvadorian snack item that features homemade tortillas stuffed with fresh queso blanco cheese and paired with a traditional coleslaw called curtido. Other types of Papusas commonly incorporate pork and refried beans. I didn’t really care for my papusa but perhaps it had to do with choice. Mine tasted like a cheese pancake, which may be ok but I think I needed to add beans for additional flavor profiles. The Turkey Club sandwich was the highlight of my experience because the sandwich was packed with a generous amount of turkey as well as some fresh toppings(lettuce, tomato. onion, mayo, cheese, avocado and bacon) that all came together perfectly. I’m a big turkey club fan and this is one of the best I’ve eaten. The prices were ok, perhaps slightly inflated, as two sandwiches, one papusa, one side order and two drinks cost around $ 30. It’s hard to argue with local, fresh ingredients as opposed to processed, unidentifiable crap from McDonald’s! I will return!

REVIEWOFRHODEISLANDLOACTION Love this place for inexpensive casual meals. They had a few growing pains when they first opened(especially with service) but by now things are really good. I think this is the best option for breakfast in the immediate area. Bright, clean nicely decorated.

Hit them for breakfast. I got the salmon cakes… wish I had read the reviews first. If you like salmon cakes, pass on these. Not good. Dry and not freshly made. Wish I could have brought my own… the grits were surprisingly good. And the eggs scrambled with cheese were, eggs scrabbled with cheese. The other dish orders was the vegi omelet. That was good. Huge serving of home fries. Looked good and tasted home made. Was however, not finished or taken home. That may say it was not good enough to finish or take home. I hear their deli sandwiches are good so, I will try them for lunch and for breakfast something like french toast. Look for my next reviews. As they are only. Block away from me and I do breakfast every morning. Price and atmosphere is great.
