This hardware store might have higher prices than other stores sometimes; however, they have an excellent selection and quality brands. The staff is friendly and helpful. They have been in Cap Hill for years and I love the convenience.

Meh. Been here a number of time. Not impressed by the inconsistent supply of things. Recently looking for compression fittings. The stocking of different sizes was spotty, and the drawers in the kiosk were broken and neatly falling out. Then I needed a shut off valve for a supply line. Same story: missing several sizes/configurations. One of the salespeople was very aggressive that he help me. Help I didn’t need or want. But he was practically hovering over me. Prices weren’t great. I do like the garden center. Staff is nice and good selection(although prices are not that great).

This place is awesome. They may not have what you are looking for because they’ll have something BETTER than your crappy idea. Fragers is a Capitol Hill institution that used to be located in an awesome old store front that everyone said was grandfathered in before there were rules about things like narrow aisles and stuff like that. It was fantastic, but then it burned down. The store survived by splitting into different locations around the area. This has worked out pretty well and we still rely on Fragers for everything. In this instance, I visited the garden center which was super fast because the employees are the best on the planet. Seriously. They know everything. They know better ideas than you have. They stock the best products. I mean, I was blown away. This was for a purchase of soil… everything there is on this level though: fast service, knowledgeable, great products. What more can you ask for?

This review is for their keying and lock services. I brought in two deadbolts to be rekeyed today and Ricky was great! Not only was he quick despite being busy, but he was friendly and helpful in answering all my questions. Bringing the locks in to be rekeyed instead of having a locksmith do it was SO much cheaper and in my opinion easier as long as you’re comfortable taking the locks apart yourself. I highly recommend it!

A fragment of a bygone era. Everything you need is stacked to the ceiling. Pretty sure you’ll have to ask the staff where to locate products. A good place to meet your neighbors. The small space means that they don’t have everything that a Lowe’s does but check it out, you’ll be surprised by all the stuff they do have.

I recently called concerning party rentals for the holidays, and the sales associate could not have been more rude. Besides her continual interruptions, it was apparent throughout the entire conversation that my business was a hassle. A local businesses’s service is supposed to make up for their outrageous prices compared to «Big Box Stores».

Love theme!!! Forget about the fact that the employees actually know what they doing!(Not like Home Depot!!) And it is important to support your local stores! Great job frager’s team!

Frager’s has the most helpful hardware store staff I’ve experienced. I work on many unusual projects, and the staff always understands my needs. The current, temporary location is jammed with many specialty items that big box stores don’t carry. Time is money, and one can get in and out of Frager’s in ¼ the time as spent wandering the big box stores. Frager’s has the best inventory of screws, nuts, bolts, rubber stoppers, washers and fasteners I’ve seen, as well as tons of fun accessories for keys and keychains. This is the only hardware store in the area that makes me feel like a kid in a candy store and beats the other Ace and True Value independent stores I’ve been to in the metro area. Do not miss their paint store and garden center, both on PA Ave. SE.

Had a major issue at my apartment and Kelly helped me over the phone and in person. Even in the crowded store she gave me the personalized attention I needed. She is super awesome and the products were great!

Wonderful neighborhood hardware store. While smaller than a larger chain, it seems to have everything. I went with a long list of random hardware items and left with everything crossed off. It’s reasonably priced and staff are friendly. Way better than venturing out to Home Depot.

I ordered custom window screens. Only two screens but took a week longer than they told me it would. That cost me more than the value of the screens in lost rent. I needed them to pass a housing inspection. Granted there aren’t many places that do that work; but I believe in under promising and over delivering. Additionally, I took the measurements but I wasn’t given a lot of direction on what I should order. Consequently, The screens didn’t fit very well. I had to bend the frames to get them into the groove. I’m not pleased with their performance.

How are there no reviews? How am I the first since the fire? Well let me start it off with a touch of history. I grew up in the old store. I lived just around the corner and was the kind of kid that was always tinkering or building something and making model airplanes. They would get me tools, paint, you name it. When I turned 14 they were my 1st paying job, but they let me go that summer. Now your thinking«let him go? And he is giving them a 5 star» but that led me over to District Lock and Hardware on 8th St who taught me Locksmithing. Now if you had been into District Lock, you knew we didn’t have much. And if you went into Fragers, you knew they had it all. So I would find myself down the street finding solutions to the problems my customers needed, at Fragers. This came to a sudden halt with the fire. That is until E St. To my astonishment the nut and bolt room had become an isle. There was more stuff. It was incredible. I loved it. Now let’s go a little deeper. I have been with District Lock, both versions for 16 years now, I’ve gone into both of the Fragers and they have never treated me like competition, as «the other guy» or anything else you might think of as rivals might. It is always been realized that we all exist to help the community. They refer work to me, I send folks to them. It’s just how to treat people and do right. And that nut and bolt isle. Wow! John out!
