Galaxy Locksmith

Worst experience ever with a locksmith company. I called to make an appointment for a locksmith to remove a master lock. The gentleman was very nice, took my info and said a tech would be out the following day at 8:30 am. The following day I received a call from the tech at 8:50 am asking to reschedule the appointment. This guy sounded like he just woke up and didn’t want to venture out in the rain. I informed he that I needed the lock to be remove because our AC unit was scheduled to be serviced later that day. Then he said he was going to call someone else to come and do his assigned job and to expect a call from him shortly. 30 minutes went by and the no call from the new tech, so I called the office to see what was going on. The woman I spoke to was very apologetic and said someone should be there in 25 – 30 minutes. 30 minutes later the new tech called and said he would be over in 20 minutes. What the heck, I had a scheduled appointment?!
I ended up saying screw this crap company and service! Terrible customer service! Apparently the owner was on vacation. I wonder if he knows what goes on when he goes out of town and puts other supposedly trusted people in control. My husband ended up buying a hacksaw and removed the lock himself. So glad we didn’t give money to this company and got a saw out of this instead.

I’m in DC for a conference and borrowing a friends car for a few weeks while here. Went to dinner with a few colleagues and realized that I left my keys to the car inside and started panicing, especially since not my usual car. Fired up google, and found this group. Showed up pretty quickly, got to me faster than expected, and were able to get the keys out without wrecking the car. lol. My mistake and these guys really saved my hyde. Very fairly priced too, especially for my mistake and locking my keys out. Thanks Galaxy.

The locksmith just left from Galaxy. Did he rekey my locks? Yes. But the whole experience left me with a bad taste in my mouth. This is the 2^nd locksmith I’ve used, and this is the 2^nd time the price was quoted differently over the phone. I was told $ 30/​lock for rekeying with a $ 30 service charge by 2 different people over the phone. The locksmith then told me the labor was a minimum of $ 45…of course, only after he’s started to rekey. I flat out said no, and offered him the option to put it back together and leave. I haggled my way down to the correct price of $ 90 (2 locks+ the service charge).
Maybe I’ve just been unlucky, but this situation seems like a common trend in the locksmith business… try to get more money after you’ve started a job. Thank god I wasn’t locked out where I’d have less room to haggle.
The only good note was that the locksmith told me my knob locks were not worth a rekey and to just replace them. He said the same thing about the deadbolts (after he took it apart), but I went with the rekey as a quick fix until I can replace them.

I wanted to update this review to say that the owner of the company did contact me after reading this review and offered to refund the difference. That was really appreciated and I think the right thing to do.

This was just terrible. The guy showed up and looked at my car — then told me it was going to cost more than the $ 105 dollars they quoted me – which was already absolutely ridiculous. I have a ’99 hatchback car. There is nothing complicated about my vehicle and I have locked my keys in multiple times. I told him to just forget it – but then he said he’d do it at their quoted price… but he still charged me $ 120. AND when I gave him my card (they accept cards) he rudely asked me if I could please pay cash. I informed him I didn’t carry hundreds of dollars of cash on me and he took my card — angrily. He was just all around rude and I paid too high an amount of money for it. I felt extremely taken advantage of.

OMG this guy was good! I tried to change a complicated door lock by myself and could not get it to work. Galaxy showed up in an hour and had the whole thing handled in a hour. Price was reasonable. I should have just called them to begin with! I know the other reviewers have said this, but don’t go anywhere else. This place is great! Btw the guy on their website video is not who came or who I talked to. That threw me at first. There are tons of locksmith scammers, but I am glad I went ahead with it because they were terrific!

Seriously, do not waste your time calling anyone else but Galaxy. Nick just came and opened the lock to my apartment for me. He showed up pretty much within the time range he quoted. He was very nice, very organized, efficient, and professional. The cost was as quoted on the phone and was half of the price of other locksmiths. I know this because I called and waited for another locksmith who showed up 45 mins late and quoted me $ 188 plus a service charge, for my non-​deadbolt lock that took Nick under 5 mins to open. Luckily, I turned him away, looked on Unilocal and found Nick — thank goodness! I would HIGHLY recommend.

I got locked out late at night while moving out of my apartment — not fun at all! Of the locksmiths that were open, every other company was overly aggressive or hung up when I asked for a true quote. Galaxy was great — they gave me a reasonable quote by phone, arrived within 30 mins, had me in within 15 mins, and even tightened the locks so they worked better than they had before. Nick was very nice and had a great sense of humor… and most importantly, charged me exactly what I was quoted (about $ 60 per lock + $ 29 fee). Thank you, Galaxy!

came from out of town for the new year and lost my rented car keys.
everyone overpriced because of the holiday, Nick from galaxy was the only one with a price that was reasonable he charged me $ 180 including everything.
the only thing that wasn’t perfect was i had to wait 30 minutes in the cold when they told me it will take 20 :(
