I was super excited when I saw that they had Matcha green tea on their menu. I asked the ladies at the counter what the difference was between the Matcha green tea freeze and the shake. They kinda explained the difference but it was surprisingly confusing. I was looking for something similar to a bubble tea quality that you’d expect to find in good Asian cafes, restaurants, etc. Kinda like milk tea with real Matcha green tea powder. Starbucks actually makes an authentic tasting green tea frappichino. Well for one they didn’t make the correct request, I wanted the shake thinking it would be creamy and milky. It was icy and thin, no thick mouth feel. Two and the most important is that it was gross. Whatever they put in it shouldn’t be called green tea. It’s was grainy, bland, chalky and downright disappointing. Whatever the powder was it tasted very imitation like and poor quality. I was so irritated that I just gave it back to them and left. I’m not going to order anything else from them again.

Gelatissimo serves Illy coffee, for all of you caffeine addicts who need a higher-quality boost. Just be warned that the people who work here aren’t exactly friendly. While I didn’t get any gelato, the ones on display looked a little worse for wear and not very fresh.

Certainly not the best gelato in town, but the service was adequate and my yogurt & berries gelato is decent. The strawberry sample I tried was very icy, and the pistachio sample was very muted in flavor. The pineapple sample was way too sweet. Definitely try before you buy.

I had a Portobello Mozzarella Panini. It was okay. Also had a Peach Smoothie, which was okay as well. It didn’t taste like it contained actual peaches. The total was $ 13.50 and I was able to pay with Visa.

On March 25 I purchased a ‘piccolo’ gelato for $ 2.50 from Gelatissimo in the Food Court of the Ronald Reagan building. The clerk dished it up, and then asked me if I wanted a squirt of whipped cream on top. Not wanting to appear ungrateful to what appeared to be a friendly offer, I responded, «OK». Then she told me, «That will be $ 3.30». I questioned the price, and she said, «That’s because we use real cream.» I reluctantly paid the amount, but later looked for a posted sign that listed a 50¢ charge for whipped cream. Not seeing one, I asked her about it. She said, «We don’t like signs because we like to talk to people [instead]». I responded that she had not told me there was a price for the whipped cream, and that it was deceitful to fail to inform customers of charges. She seemed oblivious to that concept, never acknowledging her that her misrepresentation results in customers feeling cheated. Instead of the memory of sweet gelato purchased in the nations’ capitol, I left with a bitter taste in my mouth at having been deceived.

What! ok didn’t have the gelato but the cappuccino was great and the owner served me and she was amazingly nice and Italian. I will go back to have a panini

Absolutely terrible service. They offered me a single sample, which wasn’t too bad, and so I decided to order. They were rude the entire time to me, and even ruder when I tried to hand them my credit card to pay for the $ 4.90 scoop of gelato that was incredibly tiny. They don’t take credit cards, and instead direct you to an ATM in the corner that give you a $ 3 charge if you aren’t with the Capitol One bank. I told them to forget it and ended up leaving.

A good place for paninis. The iced tea is fresh — unlike some other places in the Reagan building food court. The gelatto I have had(only a couple of times) was fine. It would be better if they took credit cards.

This is the worst I’ve ever tasted and it was expensive. I haven’t been back and I never will. I work in the building and the bagel place next to the Gelatissmo is owned by a French woman with short dark hair and glasses. She was friendly when she thought I was going to make a purchase(they are cash only) but then quickly changed when she found out I was only able to pay with my Visa. It’s better to go to the cookie place on other side of the food court and get real icecream.

Icy gelato with artificial flavors — the gelato is so bad it shouldn’t be considered that. If it weren’t for quick desperation this place is to be avoided. Just hope that if you have a conference in the Ronald Reagan Building that you can find better dessert options elsewhere.

Worst gelato ever! Icy and artificial tasting. They only offer customers ONE meager sample scoop, so you can’t even figure out what you’re getting yourself into. :P Very rude service as well. Plus, what’s up with calling your specials«coupons»? It’s not a coupon if it’s a deal. Blah
