Kind of disappointing, actually. I like to support local area businesses, so I’m automatically drawn to a Farmers’ Market. The Georgetown one is surprisingly small and the prices are surprisingly high.

I went to the Farmer’s Market on a fairly overcast day where thunderstorms were predicted and it was drizzling a bit. This weather forecast may have affected that there were only 3 or 4 stands. Went to the vegetable stand and got a huge salad for $ 2 which was great, however the sales people at the vegetable stand were less than nice which was sort of unexpected. Though I am trying to support local farmers and hate giving this a less than solid review, the selection is very limited and if you were planning on picking up dinner there, you may be disappointed. However, the chocolate croissants did look scrumptious, so definitely go there at least for dessert.

Actually, the Georgetown Farmer’s market is firing up again today May 5, in Rose Park(26th and O), and will be open Wednesdays, through October, 4 – 7 p.m. The one at Hardy Middle School/Fillmore School is technically called the Glover Park Farmers Market, and opens for the season this Saturday, May 8, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Will re-rate both markets in a week or so, after checking out this season’s wares

It is def. still there(Saturdays, 9 – 1). Just take the circulator up Wisconsin and you’ll see it. It was much smaller than I expected, but they had a little folk band playing music for the customers. I got some really amazing plums from a stand called Derrick’s Orchard; the owners were really sweet. In general, the stuff is a little pricier than you’d expect, but it’s no Whole Foods. I’d go here if you needed to pick up one or two items since the selections is pretty limited.

Saturday’s 9 – 1 at the Fillmore School on Wisconsin. Decent veggie selection and one of the best Chocolate Croissant’s I’ve had. Only complaint is there isn’t as much selection I would like but it’s got the requisite veggie stands, soap stand, and i saw one dairy booth. Worth a look.
