The GULC Bookstore serves as the Law Center’s main textbook store and a satellite branch of the main campus bookstore. They offer a variety of Georgetown-related swag here(everything from school supplies to novelty mugs to clothes) and, of course, they offer plenty of law-related books. Of course, most of the swag is emblazoned with the Law Center name, so if you’re looking for more general Georgetown gear(or for another school), you will probably have to head over to the main campus. There is quite a selection, but sizing of certain items can be limited. I once tried to find a medium size for a standard crew neck sweater, but alas there were none. For all of my fellow law student friends, as you probably know with your previous campus bookstore experience, the textbooks and related study aids are very VERY expensive… and probably more expensive than what you can get online. Of course, there is the rare exception and should you choose to get books here, I’d recommend renting a used copy — you can usually find a good quality copies at the beginning of the semester and the bookstore has a liberal policy when it comes to writing in books. Final note: The textbook staff are very helpful in answering all of your questions. The other staff leave quite a bit to be desired.

It’s a shame that the old Washington Law Bookstore over on 19th Street has changed so much since being bought by Reiter’s, forcing me to shop at GULC’s bookstore more often. What can you find here? Prices that are too high, clerks with attitudes, and mislabeled merchandise. Twice now I’ve gone to the register and have been charged more than the sticker price for books. I inquire about this to the cashier and am greeted with disdain and indifference. How about some customer service? You’re the ones mislabeling the products. But no. They only see customers as people who hand over money, and they treat students like their own personal ATM machines. It’s a philosophy that, unfortunately, seems pervasive throughout the law school. Avoid this place if you can. PS: Don’t trust the info on the website( ). They change their store hours on a whim, but fail to update the site accordingly. More than once I’ve gone having relied on the info posted, only to be disappointed.
