So I got to finally have another grids waffles at living social’s beerfest~ This time I tried the pizza waffle! Very Tasty! But Im still a fan of the Jalapeño, Cheddar, Bacon waffle so yummy! So yummy! So yummy in my tummy!(as my little nephew would say) So you all know I talked up the staff and creator in regards to my fried chicken waffle sandwich idea, right? :-)…well the answer: they’ve thought about it and are still trying to figure out how they could make that fresh on the spot without affecting the wait time… till then a girl can dream! P.S: New idea… Strawberry, rhubarb and whip cream… mmmm mmmm mmmm(rhubarb lovers can I get a oh yeah!)

Grids Waffles has a winning business plan. Present hot waffles filled with delicious goodies to people late at night. The service is not that speedy but understandable since they have to make every waffle fresh. The night I went they were set up for business during intermission at a show that I was attending. You should’ve seen the angry mob of people screaming«Take my money!» around the truck. Luckily I had VIP seats and could make a straight line for the door during intermission to get a nice waffle relatively fast. I got a Nutella, banana, and whipped cream filled waffle since I wasn’t feeling the savory option of the day which was a pizza waffle. Man that thing was good, hot, cold, gooey, crispy, savory, and sweet. So many textures and flavors complimenting each other wrapped up into one convenient package that I promptly wolfed down! Their prices aren’t bad either at about $ 6 for the waffle variety that I chose. This place is a win!

Plump blueberries in a light, refreshing lemon glaze, all inside a waffle folded in half like a taco. It’s the coolest idea. This truck has sweet or savory waffles and I chose to go the sweet route today. They wrap the waffle halfway in parchment paper then aluminum foil, so it’s mess-free. The waffle has a good texture and the filling was so fresh. I enjoyed every bite of it. One waffle was $ 6.50. The other choices I can remember were a pizza waffle and a red velvet waffle. Since I’m new to the whole food truck revolution, really helped me out today. They have a consolidated list of where all the trucks will be that day in DC, for example. The workers at Grids Waffles were very friendly and talked to us while the waffle was cooking. I will try to recreate this dish at home when a waffle craving hits!

I just had the nutella/banana/whipped cream waffle and it was delicious. Great texture and flavor, and I agree with one of the earlier reviewers that they do a very good job of distributing the toppings so you get some of each in every bite. Between the cost(5.50) and the calories involved I see it as a once-in-a-while treat, but I’ll definitely be back every 2 – 3 weeks. I want to try the savory ones as well but today’s option didn’t sound so great.

Tried one of their savory waffles — «Great Grids of Fire” — Jalapeños &3-Cheese Blend. Wasn’t too impressed, the«cheese» was clearly the runny and processed type a la American. I had to scrape it off because the quality was so bad. If they want to compete in this DC food truck market, they’ll have to use higher quality ingredients.
