GWU Ivory Tower

Location, Location, Location! Ivory Tower is placed in the Foggy Bottom. It’s super close to everything, and did I mention a 2 min walk from my externship? One of the awesome perks about living here is that inside the building there is a grocery store, salad, pita pit, Potbelly’s, Dunkin Donuts, and even dry cleaning. The grocery store is open til Midnight! Wow! Down stairs there are TONS of chairs to go study, eat, or sit with friends. It’s a 10 min walk from CVS and a 15 walk from Trader Joe’s. It’s pretty centralized. Originally I was bummed out that I didn’t get my own private room and I would have to share with another intern. However, it is very hard to beat the location. If you need coffee, a cliff bar, soap, you name it, it is likely you can find it downstairs ~ without having to step a foot outside the building! The desks are nice and place is modern. There could be better lighting, but overall good!

Super location, super convenient!
It is 10 floors total and houses about 700 undergrads. It also has 2 basement levels of parking as well as a small outdoor seating area next to Potbelly’s. It was built in 2004 and has mostly 1 and 2 bedroom apartments.
Obviously, for all non-​students, the food area is probably the most important! From a pita place to Potbelly’s to (most importantly) Dunkin Donuts — it has a great little below-​street-​level pseudo-​cafeteria. There is a lot of room to spread out, read, eat, study, or just hang. The hours of operation are pretty expansive too, it’s easy to grab a coffee super early or some fried foods super late. Pretty convenient to have around the corner in Foggy Bottom.
