This is my new favorite place. It’s such a hole in the wall and their food is so freaking tasty!!! Love it.

Good joint, at least at first visit. I see a lot of potential, and will have to try it again! The prices certainly give it the fourth star… it’s very reasonable and quick. The hot and sour soup is light, but I like more vinegar in mine. But the broth is not too thick and there’s lots of veggies in it, and that’s good. I also had the Chicken with Garlic Sauce, which tasted great — but could be spicier. Remedied with some hot oil(ask and ye shall receive).

Delicious Chinese/Thai/Asian food. The staff there are extremely helpful and they can make any of the dishes into a vegetarian dish.

I love everything about this place. Where else would you get a meal like this in a place like this? The price/quality/location ratio is perfect. It’s very easy to miss — basically your typical hole in the wall basement café, but with a mouth watering menu. Lunch combos are an easy winner, but everything else. My goodness. Their beef dishes are so good that I was doubting whether or not this was even beef. It’s authentic, it hits the spot for some comforting Chinese food, and there’s a ton of vegetarian options. The batter and oil for deep fried dishes are great — fresh, crispy, really good. The interior is cheesy but great, and the waitress is lovely and friendly.

Best place to get veggie Chinese food in town. The service can be kind of slow because it is just the owners running the place but the lady that waits on you is very nice. Make sure you get the fried mushroom appetizer — it is really good.

This is white table clothe Chinese restaurant with some fancy schmancy chairs. Yes, the chairs. Be sure to notice them. Anyway the food. I highly recommend the veggie sesame«chicken» for an entrée(yum!) and the fried wontons for an appetizer. The wontons came out crisp and freshly fried, they were like a carnival in your mouth. Sensational!

I cannot think of another situation where I have so consistently been unimpressed with the food, but impressed with the restaurant. What explains this seeming contradiction? The tofu with tomato sauce lunch special isn’t great. Very simple dish; predictably sweet sauce and not a ton else going on. The spring roll is better; you can taste the cool seaweed wrapper. The accompanying salad is a nice addition. But where else can you go in Georgetown proper to sit down and eat a nice lunch, drop a $ 10 bill, and still be tipping heavy? I swear their prices haven’t increased the entire time I’ve been going there. And of course, their vegetarian-friendliness doesn’t hurt either. It’s so easy to walk by their entrance, but if you’re in the area and need to eat, you might want to stop and look for it. I just wish they’d offer some better choices for that lunch special; their ma po tofu isn’t half bad.

I think it’s a family run restaurant. The waitress is very nice. Quality food with reasonable price. Good to try.

Never noticed this place although I run in Gtown all the time! I went there for dinner a couple of weeks ago with my mom when I was in the mood for some ‘fake Chinese food’. This place is like a hidden gem. Although the food is not 100% authentic but everything we ordered was good! We had the Beef Chow Fun, Kung Pao Chicken, fried mushroom and hot and sour soup, all yummy. The interior is nice too; it reminds me of China in the 30’s.

I really like the food here. You would not even know that it was fake meat,

A sort of hidden gem on M Street. Harmony Café is located in the basement and can be easily missed when walking quickly down M Street. There are no windows so it’s good for meals on really cold or bad weather days. Very cozy inside with decent comfort Chinese food. We like the sesame chicken combo lunch special meal. The salad dressing is light and really delicious. In addition to salad, it comes with rice, a spring roll, sesame chicken, and some broccoli. Lots of food and we usually share it. There is a minimum of $ 10 for credit cards and the lunch special is less than $ 10 so be sure to bring cash if you don’t plan to order more!

My friend and I were on M street one day and neither of us wanted to go into a nice restaurant requiring us to spend more than $ 10 nor fast food/chain joint. Unilocal led us to Harmony Café, a Chinese restaurant somewhat hidden because it’s in a basement and the sign is lost in the sea of signs. The décor was typical to that of a Chinese restaurant; it was clean and tranquil. There was only another table besides us that weekday lunch. The lunch special came with a spring roll, rice and main– your typical Chinese fare of Orange Chicken, General Tso, Kung Pao, etc. The service was fast and the portion is medium-large, but the food wasn’t great. Panda Express and other similar Chinese restaurants are much better. However, if you’re on M street and seek cheap Chinese, this an option.

Combos are really cheap. For this ambiance, no one would be able to beat these prices. Good options for vegetarians. Not something common in all places. The ambiance is really nice! When I walked in, I thought to myself« Unilocal screwed me telling me that this is a single $ place, argggg!» But then I saw the menu and I was shocked! I immediately pulled out my phone and left a tip :) I got the combo tofu tomato sauce. The waitress warned me that it would be sweet but that me want it even more. Very friendly staff. Good food. Amazing prices.

This place wasn’t overwhelmingly good in terms of food, but I will admit I’ll come back just to try other dishes to see if it might be better. The ambiance we better than I had anticipated, very relaxing and almost romantic in a way. Comfy booths with soft music in the background makes it perfect for getting a way from the hustle and bustle of weekend Georgetown. I ordered fried spring rolls(a little overpriced at $ 3.50 for two in my opinion, but they were crunchy & fresh) along with the Wonton Noodle Soup, HK style. The service was excellent, although there were only a few tables on a Sunday evening, the server I had was on point, getting everything I needed extremely quickly and with a smile. The soup was disappointing, not what I had hoped for. They didn’t use traditional egg noodles, and the wontons seemed cheap and flavorless. For the price and the generous portion though, I really couldn’t complain. It’s clear they use cheap ingredients, but I suppose that’s how they keep the menu prices down. I would definitely return to try some of their lunch combo specials, or the vegetarian recommendations.

Pros: — Delicious & fresh, with perfect portions. — Well priced! — Lots of options for vegetarians :) Cons: — Located sort of in the basement with no windows & dated décor. — Some sauces are too salty and are served in larger quantities than necessary. *Tip* — Try to get a seat at a regular table rather than a booth as the seating in the booths is very uncomfortable for the back!

I base my reviews on how the food quality matches the price. Harmony is not a high-end chinese restaurant, but it definitely deserves five stars. The food tastes authentic, and you can tell that the owner lady and their kitchen team tries to make the best food possible with the unmatchable prices. I cant believe most of their menu items are 5.50 for lunch. Yes proportions are small for lunch, but one would make a girl full while for a man you would need 1.5 dishes to be full. Try their garlic chicken, mushu pork, fried eggplant with black bean sauce, spicy chicken, and my favorite appetizer shitake mushrooms

Came in for a quick lunch. I was looking for something cheap to eat and I wasn’t expecting a place called«Harmony Café» to look like a small cute chinese restaurant, so that was a bonus. The food itself tastes alright, but definitely heavy on fats/oils.

I guess the«good» reviews has fooled my colleague and I when we came here to eat for lunch. The prices on the menu are pretty good. $ 5.95 for a combination menu item such as sesame chicken, kung pao chicken, etc. Comes with steamed white rice, a spring roll, and a salad. Welp, the salad was your standard lettuce, carrots and slices of red cabbage mixed with NO dressing… wtf? I don’t really think I can eat a salad with no dressing like that, so I didn’t touch much of that. Food finally came and my sesame chicken was OKAY. Sesame chicken is my go-to play it safe food whenever I try a new Chinese place out and this wasn’t that great. I think my colleague’s wonton soup was just a okay too. Nothing great, but like we both said our food wasn’t that special to be happy about. Anywho, I don’t think we would make the hike to eat here again. Kitchen No.1 is much, much, much better and more filling! My stomach is rumbling from this meal because I’m still hungry T-T

Harmony Café is clean, well-priced chinese food in Georgetown. The atmosphere is quiet, but pleasant. The fried shitake mushrooms are AMAZING! They offer vegetarian substitutes for almost every dish, and the food tasted fresh and(relatively) healthy. Would definitely come back again and try more dishes. Better than the chinese food in D.C. Chinatown, in my opinion.

Cheap decent Chinese in Georgetown. I’m surprised they didn’t jack up their prices just for the location. The BF ordered his usual general tso’s chicken and I got the Tofu four seasons(tofu with a variety of veggies in brown sauce). General tso’s was meaty and not all breading. Tofu dish wasn’t overly salty which I liked but I wish it had more tofu in it. For appetizers we got fried wontons and crispy shitake mushrooms(both were about 3.50 each). I was pleasantly surprised how much food they give you for the price. The best dish of the night is definitely the shitake mushrooms. I am in love with it! Definitely get this when you come to Harmony Café. That extra one star is for that dish! So yummy! This place is great for vegetarians. They offer veggie meat substitutes for pretty much all their dishes.

I’m not sure how this place earns so many stars, visited for lunch yesterday and was underwhelmed. Service was pretty slow, but it was friendly, it took quite a long time to place our orders and to receive our check when we finished. I had the Kung Pao Chicken and it didn’t taste good, or fresh. My companions didn’t like their entrees either. Perhaps this place earns high marks for the value but for taste, I really can’t give it any more stars.

Love this place. It’s cheap, it’s quite and the food tastes pretty good. I always get the shiitake mushrooms. They are heavenly. There is usually no wait, but you do need to mindful that a couple(husband — chef, wife — waitress) serves the whole restaurant. If you are the first table, there is minimal wait for food. But if the restaurant is crowded, it will take a while! Food — good and flavorful. Might appeal more to americans and chinese. But good nonetheless. I would come back just for the mushrooms. Service — really good. The lady is attentive and not intruding. We ask for her advice on food and she was spot on. Always fills our water.
