LOVE this place! Thought the idea was stupid until I actually tried it… Oops. And what a mistake I was making not trying this awesome place. Carryout pizza does not compare to HomeMade Pizza. Fresh ingredients and its pipping hot at home! I suggest the Fresh Herb pizza if you’re a fan of white pizza and goat cheese. The only reason I cannot give them 5 stars is that its a bit pricey, but they do have really good deals and they alert you by email.

This place used to be wonderful. I would order the same thing every Friday for about a year, Now, even if I call them the minute they open they tell me it will be an hour for my modest order to be ready(a medium and a kids sized pizza with a salad). The last time this happened, it still wasn’t ready after 1.5 hours. The quality of the product is still good, but the current management fails, fails, fails. It’s too bad, because the pizza is delicious. Dead to me.

I just changed my former one — star review to four stars. Six months later, this place is much better organized, and they seem to have sufficient staff with sufficient training to handle the demand. Still no on — line ordering, though.

i’m actually slightly obsessed with this place. the ability to make my own pizza is great because i’m such a picky eater, and i’ve noticed that the pizzas are always amazing– no matter which ingredients i pick! the people are also super friendly and eager to help you create your own masterpiece!

I don’t think there has ever been a business model I’ve heard of that has actually made me mad. This one does.

Great fresh pizza. Love the topping choices. Like to pick it up and have it ready to cook up nice and fresh. Good salad selection… very fresh.

De.Li.Cious. I LOVE this pizza, and I don’t care that I have to make it myself. It’s fast and simple, and their ingredients couldn’t be fresher. I usually order the Spinach Pie on a whole wheat crust – it’s scrumptious. My husband usually orders his own doctored-up pizza(a Hawaiian on one half, sausage and onion on the other) and it’s amazing. We have stopped ordering from every other pizza place because we are only disappointed when we do. Not only that, but this company offers many deals when you sign up for their emails. TRYIT!!!

I’d say it might be a little expensive for the medium pizza but my friend and I took the pizza back to the dorm and cooked it and it tasted great.

Actually really tasty pizza, which is a rarity here in DC. But shame on you, Homemade Pizza Co, for making me take it home and cook it myself! You’re right next door to a law school! You should know better! And why do you not sell pizza by the slice? You just make no sense, Homemade Pizza Co! Your salads are quite tasty, but given that you don’t even open until after 3PM means I’ll rarely ever actually get one.

I just love this place. Not only is the food excellent and fresh(california fresh which is hard to find in Washington DC). it is less than a block away from our home. I really like the barbecue chicken and mushroom pizza. Though i too was shocked when I figured out i had to cook it you get used to it. It is pricey for what you get but the great taste makes it worth it and you actually enjoy cooking it yourself. If you order on-line they send you promotional offers and coupons.

Yea, I was kinda excited to find a pizza place next to my law school. But when I found out this wasn’t a pizza by the slice place and actually far different, I felt outraged like many other reviewers on here. WHATDOYOUMEAN I HAVETOCOOKITMYSELF?!? I wanted a place to grab a meal in between classes, I didn’t want to purchase an uncooked pizza to bring back to my apartment and do half the work myself. And even if that’s what I wanted, I would buy a pie from Whole Foods and put toppings on it myself. So I never went. And then Unilocal magic happened. I came across reviews for it while clicking around and heard about $ 3 small salads(except the Cobb and Big) Mondays through Wednesdays. This location isn’t open until 3PM, so I came in for a late lunch. The space is nice and open and I saw four employees — three of which were in the back busily making pizzas and the fourth stood at the cash register eager to serve. She explained the process of how the pizzas are uncooked and when I asked about the salads, she also explained the special. The special only applies to small salads, not to large. I ordered the blue cheese and pear salad with balsamic vinaigrette and paid her $ 3.35. She said it would be about 5 minutes, so I went to CVS and bought a cherry coke and had a salad ready for me at my arrival. No seating available here, but the deli next door does have some tables out on the sidewalk. The salad was a really good size, small salad did not mean side salad as I had feared. The ingredients were fresh and tasty. The walnuts were coated in some interesting spice which made me glad I had a soda. The dressing was a-mazing and came in a tub, that way you control the amount to put on. However, I was pretty disappointed in the lack of pear in the salad. The salad had the word«pear» in the name and maybe had five thin slices of pear in it. Overall though, you can bet I will be back here to get a late lunch or pre-dinner snack. But only on Mondays — Wednesdays and only for salads. UPDATE: They no longer have that salad deal. They also no longer have me as a customer.

3.5 stars I’m not sure how long this place has been around, but having my dentist across the street and living a mile or so away from it now, I’m surprised a pizza craving hadn’t hit sooner leading me to it. Its no secret that I like pizza and like to cook, and often like to cook my own pizza from scratch. But sometimes, I’m lazy and just want to have someone else do it for me. With the exception of Vace, 2 Amy’s and Pizza Paradiso, there is some pretty mediocre pizza in the area around Tenleytown and Cleaveland park. Especially for delivery. I decided to give this place a shot. As other have said, the price can easily add up. I don’t understand comments like that of Alex D. leaving surprised that they had to cook it on their own and A. rob W. who also seemed shocked that it came uncooked. Honestly, did you even bother to look at the website or read what it was before hand? To lower you rating because they were surprised at this is pretty lol-tastic. Anyway, that’s besides the point. The pizza was quite good, and yes, a pizza stone would make it better. The crust was a bit above average, the toppings are where they earn their weight in cheese. They were very fresh and delicious. I also ordered a salad, which was actually excellent. Was it worth $ 19 for the pizza, plus extra for the salad and a delivery fee? Almost. If I ordered there again i would pick it up or just step up to the plate and make a delicious pizza on my own. But all in all its a great concept and I think that it plays well in the shopping center that it is located and who its attempting to attract.

I’m not sure if the pizza was good or not. By the time it reached me, about 30 minutes after I ordered it and I realized it was UNCOOKED and I cooked it, I was so hungry that I really couldn’t tell you if it was good or not. Unpleasant surprise. I agree with other posters– if you want homemade, make you own.

A couple of weeks ago I got a food brochure on the street advertising HomeMade Pizza. I was very excited to try this because a) i don’t eat too much pizza and b) it was homemade and seemed like a healthy choice! The other night I got really hungry so I decided to order a pizza from HomeMade Pizza, Co and was so excited to place my order. Annoyingly, I wasn’t sure if the other person on the other line was new at her job, but she was so slow at placing my order and had to ask who ever was standing next to her everything I was asking or telling her. On the other hand, I have to note that my apartment was right outside of the zone they deliver, but they made an exception and delivered to me. When the delivery arrived at my door i was surprised to find out that the pizza was NOTCOOKED and I had to cook it myself! I waited 45 minutes for the guy to arrive with the pizza, was literally feeling my stomach eat itself and I had to wait another 20 minutes for the pizza to cook in the oven! That was a true shocker and something the people at Homemade Pizza, Co did NOT tell me! I also spent about 5 minutes trying to find the small print on the brochure to see if I was hallucinating or if it was a mistake that they had brought me a non cooked pizza … HomeMade Pizzas should make sure that their customers are aware of this procedure right when they call! Oh and don’t forget the $ 3 delivery charge they tag on, which i find a little ridic if you are going to tip the guy! That basically brought me to a subtotal of $ 17 for an uncooked medium sized(good for 2 people) «natural» pizza… I have to admit, the pizza was pretty good, with the exception that the crust was kind of harder than usual and pricey! For all the hassle I went through in that one evening for a medium pizza, I could have just gone to Giant and bought myself Dijorno and added all kinds of «natural» topings!

The basic idea is, they build the pizza and you cook in your own oven. Some points to be considered: — Pizza stone, if you want a good crust, you will need one — Dough, it is not an Italian dough, it misses a good yeast, it raises well but the taste is flat(compared to Vace’s) — Toppings, the toppings quality is good We went there during a weekday and asked for a pizza, and left with a plastic bag with an uncooked pizza. So don’t be surprised. Is it worth a try? No. There are other places that you can buy better dough.

This is an excellent concept, and it’s definitely worth coming here and giving it a try. As Martin B. explained in his review, you tell them what toppings you want and they make you a pizza, which you then cook yourself at your house in your own oven. One piece of advice before you place your order. The menu has suggested combinations, which are $ 16 for a small and $ 18 for a large. However, when you start making your own combos, the pizzas get really expensive really quickly. Some meat toppings count as two, and my wheat crust counted as two toppings, and by the time were done our pizza had gone from $ 18 to $ 26. Beware your topping choices if you’re watching your budget! We also tried the homemade cookies and cream ice cream, which was über creamy and was very enjoyable. In addition, we got a cookie to cook at home, but thought this was just ok– it was too soft and didn’t have enough chocolate chips.

So this place opened up just a couple of weeks ago. I was excited, as there isn’t much in the way of dining in the Spring Valley area. Especially when it comes to pizza. I walked in here expecting tables and such. None of that. The keyword in «HomeMade Pizza Co.» is «Home.» The idea behind this establishment is that you go up to the register, order a pizza(built to your specifications OR one of their pre-configured pies), then kill some time. While you’re killing said time, your pizza is being made with fresh, tasty, quality ingredients. Once that time is killed and your order is ready, you are handed an uncooked pizza. In this day and age of dining out, some people may panic. Don’t worry! The pizza comes with simple instructions for cooking it perfectly. Go home, warm up the oven, shove the pizza in for about 15 minutes, and soon you’ll have a tasty circular dish of glory. I ordered a simple pepperoni pizza which was quite good. The crust was great(Quite crispy, but I’m sure if you cook it for around 10 minutes it’s softer) and the pepperoni and cheese were also good. I’ll have to try a more adventurous pizza soon. They also sell a large cookie(which also has to be cooked in the oven), and ice cream. If you need fast food, this might not be the place. If you’re driving home from work and you realize the only stuff you have to eat is cheese and crackers, then don’t hesitate to come here and get a pizza. Heck, if you’re driving home for a super bowl party and you realize that it’ll be an hour before the pizza delivery guy gets there, stop by HomeMade Pizza Co.
