I have the best hair cut and color ever! I work in New York and in DC and a week never goes by in either place where I’m not getting compliments about my hair. It happens all the time, even by complete strangers. I have been seeing William Brown for over 8 years and he now works at the wonderful, shop, Illusions of Georgetown. I can’t recommend anyone more. Whether you know what you want or don’t, William approaches his customers with a thoughtful curiosity of what will work for them. His work is impeccable. With many hairdressers I’ve had in the past, the cuts get worse the longer you are with them because they start to take you for granted. This is not the case with William. He approaches every appointment as if its the first. Illusions of Georgetown suits William well. Its friendly, inviting, fun without being over the top. And while its in Georgetown it doesn’t feel at all snooty like some of the shops in the area.

I will follow my stylist where ever he goes, he is that good. His new home at Illusions of Georgetown is perfect for him and for me. Great talent begets great stylists and William Brown is surrounded by like minded artists at his new location. William has made me look fabulous for 7 years now and that’s hard when you understand that I have fine, thinning hair. Nonetheless, William continues to work his magic time after time. I trust him unconditionally to choose a style or color that will enhance my appearance. And based on the compliments I receive I expect William to be my stylist for years to come.

I was looking for a new experience for my hair! I found illusions of Georgetown, what a fabulous fabulous fine… I had my haircut and colored with gold well colors. Everything turned out beyond my expectations what an absolute wonderful find.

I have been diagnosed with Lupus for 15years now and have never come across a salon that understands and can cater to my needs. All that ended when I met Irma and her team! I let the team know what my issues were and told them due to my Lupus I have a lot of hair loss when the disease is not in remission. Most stylists just go in for the cut and want their money. But here at Illusions it was different. They actually took the time to see what my needs were, and actually cared of how I wanted my cut to look. They also taught me how to take care of my hair to prevent more hair loss. I felt as if I was really cared for here. The end result was amazing! The Illusions team gave me the look I wanted and a full on make over by a fantastic make-​up artist! And now I know how to take care of my hair and make-​up for the future. Illusions is hands down the best salon I’ve been to with the greatest staff ever! Don’t take my word for it though, go check them out! I promise you won’t regret it!

Irma is innovative with my short hair cuts. She knows what will work and what won’t, I trust her implicitly.

Best men’s haircut I’ve ever had! I’m not one to write reviews but loved Justin’s work on my hair. I’ve had my hair cuts all around town and given places multiple attempts from Celadon, Diego’s, Wise Owl Club, Bang, Grooming Lounge and paid double there for a underwhelming haircut.
The atmosphere here is relaxed and felt like a friend of all the personnel on site. If asked for suggestions and changed up my hair almost every visit, and have always received compliments. I’ve noticed as my hair grows in, it looks better as it grows than ever before. I get as many compliments day one, one week out and even after letting it grow for up to six weeks with it still looking great.

Had my hair and makeup done August 1 for a black tie wedding. Results were fabulous received compliments all evening Illusions of Georgetown you are amazing you made my evening perfect !!!

The best salon in the area, by far! I have been going to Illusions of Shirlington for my entire life and would never see anyone else. Irma, Justin and Amanda are the best in the business and are like family. Their Shirlington location is amazing and I was so excited when they expanded to Georgetown since it is closer to me… but worth the drive from anywhere! If you are looking for a new go-​to salon for quality care and service you must come here! I personally go to Justin for my highlights and he is amazing with blonde, longer lengths. Irma always makes my moms short hair look fabulous and Amanda is great with trendy coloring like ombré and brazilian blowouts. You will surely be taken care of by anyone you go to in this salon!

Irma and her team have been taking care of my family for 3 generations! I had my first haircut at Illusions of Shirlington and 25 years later my sisters and I all get our hair done by Irma’s son Justin in both Shirlington and Georgetown locations.
Justin is the absolute best when it comes to my blonde highlights… I receive compliments on them regularly. He takes extra care in making sure my hair stays healthy and that I’m taking care of it in between cuts. Justin’s fiancé Amanda also did an amazing balayage on my hair recently. I always feel like I’m in great hands when those two are working on my hair. I highly recommend this family run salon and I know my entire family would say the same!

Illusions of Georgetown has acquired a new follower — me!
I tracked down my hairstylist, Patti, after her old salon closed while I was out of the country. I was able to get a last-​minute appointment with her this past Friday while in town for the weekend. It was exactly what I needed after six months without her.
I was very pleased by the service and atmosphere at Illusions — it’s cute, clean and comfortable. The receptionists were sweet and the shampoo lady was delightful. Patti is still as talented as ever, and they are very lucky to have her. As long she is on staff, I’ll happily look forward to my future visits!

I recently went to illusions for a haircut before my cousin’s wedding. I am pretty specific with what I want in a haircut and often get frustrated but Amanda was incredible! She really listened to what I wanted, talked to me about my hair and I ended up with exactly what I wanted!

Had a great experience here. Irma and her team are wonderful! First time coloring my hair (did a balayage) and Amanda was fantastic and very patient with all my questions. Finished product looked awesome.
