JLL manages the building i work in. property management is probably not something you’d typically think to review, but considering we went through 3 or 4 property management companies in 4 or 5 years, JLL stands out as the [lasting] winner. we’ve now had them for about 3 years and they are very good. HVAC problem, electrical issue, simple question about building policy, fitness center access, parking garage, etc — they are on it in a flash. always the same day and usually within the hour of your request or inquiry.
they are very good about communicating any building work, issue or change to all occupants, and have thorough, well organized procedures & policies. they also send out regular notices and information WRT local events, nearby weather and traffic advisories, and goings-​on that may be relevant/​of interest to tenanants. i REALLY appreciate knowing that 6 blocks of my regular route home will be blocked off b/​c of protests or a 5K or parade, and it’s nice to hear about summer jazz concerts or authors/​poets speaking nearby, etc.
beyond good building management, JLL facilitates tenant relations and encourages a friendly environment. there have been several occasions where a firm on say, the 10^th floor is in need of a large conference room for a meeting and JLL will put the word out to all tenants and a company on another floor will offer their CR for use. it makes for a community feel rather than just a big block of concrete housing several disconnected corporations/​firms/​organizations. companies often get additional participants for their events the same way. i especially like hearing things like X company doubled their donation this year to the annual blood drive they have b/​c JLL announced it to the building and folks from companies A, B, C, etc went in to donate too. :-) tenants who would otherwise never see or meet each other beyond a short elevator ride together meet at the many mini-​events JLL has througout the year including a pumpkin carving contest in october, an annual book drive/​sale, ice cream socials, a holiday gift wish tree in december, trivia contests, and more.
sure, it’s just property management. but JLL is to work what pretty cells and minimum security is to jail: it makes it easier to bear and even sometimes pleasant. and if you *have* to work (and i certainly do), wouldn’t you rather have it that way?
