Kron, you made my Friday the 13th(2÷13÷15), feel like Valentine’s day. And that’s quite a compliment, considering I started the day with a flat tire on the way to work, and ended up stranded on the side of the road in sub-zero temperatures. After an extended adventure with a tow truck, and a wayward taxi, I arrived to the office just in time to receive a special delivery — two gorgeous hot pink and purple boutique bags, topped off with swaths of splashy tissue paper. My curiosity was piqued. Quite an impressive presentation. I couldn’t wait to see what was inside. But, I had to — it wasn’t for me. I was a patient little princess, and a few hours later, to my great surprise and delight — my boss gifted me with a generous tin of oodles of goodies from one of those gorgeous bags. She ordered them as a Valentine’s day treat for our office! I felt like I just won the lottery. At the moment I’m having fun discovering everything… pretzels, potato chips, oreo cookies, marshmallows… some kind of delicious apricot like gellee… all dipped in the most delicious chocolate! And all different kinds — milk, dark, with nuts, you name it. What a gift. Handcrafted, European style(Hungarian), locally made chocolate. And just this week I learned that Godiva, Hershey’s, Ghirardelli, Russell Stover and Nestle all have GMO’s. Yuck. Kron, thank you for turning my frownie into a brownie! My bosses have exquisite taste and they consider Kron their ultimate treat. Now it’s mine too! :D

I found this place by accident, don’t live live in that part of town, so do not often visit that Mall and was not familiar with this chcolatier. They have all kinds of chocolate items, many seasonal things. They already had Thanksgiving, Hannukah and Christmas items out. I tried a bag of milk chocolate leaves and a sold milk chocolate Thanksgiving turkey. Both were delicious, especially the leaves. They also sell decorative items. Bught a cute metal rooster, kind of looks like a planter, something you can put your mail in or other small items. Staff was friendly. Young man who waited on me told me that they make all the chocolate on the premises. Good high-quality chocolate. Taking one star off for costs. This stuff is expensive! But I guess if you want quality, you have to pay for it. I would definitely go back again when I return to that Mall.

Went in today to purchase a birthday gift for someone on a restricted diet. I knew Kron carried sugar free chocolate. My first disappointment was how long it took someone to come down from the office/kitchen to help me. There were three people working, all to busy to stop and come down, or at least acknowledge I was in the store. Then I was more disappointed when I said I wanted to purchase $ 10-$ 15 dollars worth of individual pieces of chocolate, I then asked if they could be put. In a box, I was told they only have bags for individual candy. Just so you understand, they package everything in the store, they have various sizes of boxes. Yet, I could not have one. Then I left!

I had to go check this place out so I went to the National Cathedral, had pizza at 2Amys, and then walked all the way up here to check out Kron. The verdict: it’s ok. Maybe I tried the wrong things but I was really disappointed. The chocolates were just ok, nothing special. I have places that are closer that I like better.

I HHHAAATTEEE Kron! Really! The chocolates are so irresistible, and you definitely can’t stop after one! They are that good! Kinda pricey, but compared to the quality handmade chocolate you get, it’s definitely worth it. They also make custom chocolate into any shape you want, and chocolate baskets made to order! and they accept short notice orders! I wish they weren’t so close to my house, but heyy, they make you feel obligated to make a stop @ crunch gym one block down afterwards!

I wanted to send my grandmother a thank you gift for sending me her vintage Mink coat, so I decided on a beautifully presented box of dark chocolate and raspberry candy. They gift wrapped it in a few moments, they made it a very simple and pleasant experience. Apparently my Grandmother was the talk of the retirement community :).

These are the finest truffles –the budapest cream ones, I have ever had. I live in San Francisco and we have so many fabulous chocolatiers, but I always come back to Kron. I have a half-pound mailed to me every Christmas. They are so fine that I can actually eat just one or two, okay maybe three and then leave them alone for awhile. I keep them in the freezer because I like the texture of them at this temperature, I know, purists say they should be at room temperature, I don’t care. In the eighties, I was inspired to compose a poem to a good friend who turned me on to these lovlies: The problem it seemed was contextual. The solution was deemed architectural. A brick made of stone, Instead it was Kron. — And the whole thing became rather sexual.

I really really love these chocolates, handmade with a Hungarian recipe on premises. Kron Chocolatier is located in the Mazza Gallerie and sometimes one can smell the delicious chocolate wafting throughout the lower level. Their chocolates and truffles are a best kept secret in this city. The dark chocolate is NOTBITTER and some of my favorite items are the chocolate dipped gummi bears and the chocolate dipped potato chips all in milk, white or dark chocolate. It is expensive, but hey it is a lot better than some cheap chocolate mixed with wax! The chocolate covered cherries are to die for. Ask to sample the cocoa covered truffles and you will be sold. One word, the staff can be busy with orders and the young people behind the cash register may not be as attentive as you would like but do not be detered. The chocolates are worth it all. These are the best in Washington and very very fresh!
