MacDee Quality Cleaners

Call ahead if you are picking up in the late afternoon. Today I arrived at 4:50 p.m. and found the shop closed, although there was an OPEN sign on the door. The clerk arrived at 5:05 p.m. This is the second such occurrence. Other than that, the cleaning is fine and the clerks are friendly.

The sign says open Saturday at 9:30 AM. It’s 9:55 AM, and no one’s here. This is not the first time they haven’t opened on time. I also received a dress shirt back last time with strange weight spots on it and a white, sticky powder on the buttons, which weren’t on the shirt when I dropped it off. I told the clerk, and she had no answer nor did she offer to fix it. I’ve been a customer here for years, but I will be finding another place. Their customer service is awful.

Took a comforter there to be dry cleaned. Not only did they charge us an exorbitant amount ($ 45 for a full when places down the street were charging $ 25), but they gave it back to us with two holes in it and DIDN’T TELL US ABOUT THEM. They put safety pins in the holes as if to think we would not notice. When we went to complain they told us they would ask the plant what happened and to bring the comforter back. The next day they said «oh we forgot the plant said those holes were there». I am calling BS and NEVER coming here again and neither should anyone else. Overpriced and awful work.

I’ve been going to MacDee Cleaners for years and they have always been reliable. I had several of my jeans altered, as well as a couple dresses and they all turned out exactly how I wanted them to. I just made sure I was very specific about what I wanted done and the alterations were done very well (high quality) and in a timely manner.

I wish I had read the Unilocal reviews on MacDee’s various DC shops before going to this dry cleaner. The same old story happened here. I dropped off a pair of (dry-​clean only) designer jeans for their first cleaning. I made sure to remind the cashier that they were «dry-​clean only». Of course I received them back in unwearable condition. I know that they did not dry clean the jeans as I was told. I’ve had the experience of ruining jeans myself in my own washer and dryer so the damage was easily recognizable. Let’s just say the cleaning was so destructive that it scratched most of the paint off the metal button on my jeans. I received the same horrible attitude as others have. They told me that the designer jeans were poorly made and that I should return them to the mall for a refund. What a joke! They cost me a nice pair of new jeans and a $ 7 cleaning (in my case destroying) fee. I recommend you stay far away from this business and do some research on Unilocal or other sources before choosing a cleaner.

Overall: Very poor quality service and higher than usual pricing.
After sending my shoes away with a promise to let me know if they could or couldn’t be fixed, and what the cobbler would do, the shoes were delayed for four days without notice and when they were returned, the store charged my credit card before the shoes were presented. Once I saw the shoes I nearly lost it: A botched stitching job — bright, thick yellow string — on nude pumps with permanent glue and «skid» marks from the cobbler’s tools. I was told I could not be refunded and given no explanation.
A silk dress was also returned to me with only 25% of the stains removed, which another dry cleaner easily removed for a fraction of the price.
I wouldn’t trust this place with valued items — period. If you’re looking for a reliable and affordable option, MacDee’s isn’t the best choice, either.

I’ve only had my shirts ironed here and that’s as far as it goes. I won’t send my expensive articles here but I am satisfied with a simple iron job.

I have taken a few items to be dry cleaned and I have had an overall good experience with MacDee. I have one dress that is cotton on the top and silk on the bottom, and the silk skirt had some unknown stain. MacDee was able to get the stain out and needless to say, an unknown stain and a combination of fabric types can present a challenge. Not only do they get the job done, the folks at MacDee generally get the job done pretty quickly.
On the other hand, I have found that the pricing here can be pretty iffy. I have asked several times to see a pricing chart or list for costs associated with shoe repair but they dont have one. They seem to just kind of enter a cost into the register for that particular item that sounds good to them at that moment. That probably isnt how its done, but that is certainly how it seems, since the costs vary for the same items every time I go. MacDee is pretty pricey for shoe repairs but they have done a good job!

I just took off 1 star from my previous 2-​star rating. I found that my comforter, that I had given them to dry clean, has a hole in it.

The clerk, Sarah is always friendly and helpful. I agree that it is pricey, but I get heels fixed on my shoes, dresses altered, jeans hemmed (and they don’t look weird afterwards), and dry cleaning of course.

I find their prices to be much pricier than it should be. Also, I don’t think they have very good alterations there. They can do simple hemming and sewing a button but anything beyond that they discourage you from altering. I had a dress that was ridiculously huge on me that they tried to convince me was OK b/​c they didn’t know how to sew it. I brought it to another alterations person who promptly fixed it.

I’ve been going here for about 3 years and they do a really nice job. And (and this is important), they’re really nice. The fact that I no longer work close by and still use them is a testament to this.

Good prices and very courteous service. Poor hours and, unfortunately, very poor work is going to make me go back to G’town Valet. Been bringing my clothes here for the last two months and many, many stains I’ve flagged for them that G’town would have completely removed (or pretty much anyone else for that matter) come back as vivid as they went in. Its just not good enough.

I occassionally take my dry cleaning here. It’s done «organically» claims a poster in their shop. My clothes don’t smell wierd after the dry-​cleaning.
The owners are very friendly & courteous. A blouse costs around $ 5 to be dry cleaned ($ 7 if it’s silk). Pants cost more.
I’ve also had clothes (pants & blouses) altered here & they’ve done a brilliant job each time! They’ve also repaired a beloved purse of mine that was falling apart.
