Dr. Holzman has been featured in Washingtonian magazine as one of the best ophthalmologists in DC and that he is. The office is clean and well run. Customer service is bright and cheery. Dr.Holzman himself is a very intelligent and down to earth person. I highly recommend him and his team.

A couple years ago, objects in my vision started to flicker or almost glitter slightly, particularly if they were bright or solidly colored objects(white walls were a big offender). Because I had recently suffered a concussion when my head-bone connected to a guy’s knee-bone during an über competitive and predominantly male game of company soccer, my primary care physician insisted I see an opthamologist. She also insisted I submit to several expensive and unnecessary lab tests and an MRI on my brain(see Defensive Medicine) but we’ll cover that in another review. I had never been to see an opthamologist before but Dr. Holzman made the whole process a breeze. My appointment was scheduled easily and began, shockingly, on time. He warmly and professionally explained all the tests as we were going along and also made sure I understood what would happen when he dilated my pupils so that I would not think that the dilating drops had made me go blind. Before I left, he made sure I took a pair of disposable sunglasses so I’d be able to bear the light outside. Dr. Holzman couldn’t figure out what was wrong with me but quickly ruled out several possible causes for my problem and let me know pronto that my vision was ‘A-Okay’. He gets 4 stars only because I don’t wear glasses or contacts and thus don’t feel that I’m equipped to judge the full eye-doctor experience — just the eye exam part. Side Note: Sadly, or not so sadly, it turned out that my problem was caused by a consistent lack of sleep + computer eye strain. Boo.
