They are amazing. Great service and organization, so thoughtful about coming up with the best and most cost efficient solutions for our home. Very knowledgeable about building and home issues in general and gave us great advice and recommendations for non-​insulation related service providers. We worked with a lot of contractors when renovating our hundred year old home, and they were the best.

Great professional service. I contact them about insulating a basement crawlspace that had lead to some frozen water pipes the previous winter. I got a prompt response from Max himself, and and worked with his scheduler on a time for consultation. Max showed up on time and was extremely knowledgable about some solutions. I received a quote for the project the following day. They completed they job over the Xmas break while we were out of town. Crawl space is much warmer and now more frozen pipes. Yeaaahhh!
I would use them again in a heartbeat. Good folks who do a really good job!

We turned to Max to deal with an ancient, cluttered, damp and essentially uninsulated cellar that made a good portion of the ground floor of the house either overly warm and damp (in summer) or cold and difficult to heat (in winter). He came, looked it over in detail, offered a plan of attack and a competitive price, and then did the job right. The difference inside the house was immediately apparent. We highly recommend Max’s services.

We weren’t sure what was causing the heat fluctuations in our house, the inability to heat adequately in the winter or cool the upstairs in the summer. Leaky roof? Old windows? Insulation? Heating systems? We have a complicated house — four different attic spaces and four different heating/​AC units. We called in Max Insulation and I’m SO glad we did. Rather than just sell us his own product, Max suggested an energy audit of the whole house. From that he produced a report that outlined steps we should take in order of priority, including what we could do ourselves and for which items we should call in professionals. He patiently walked us through that report and together we decided on our approach. Our solution ended up including furnace work, duct work and the insulation work provided by Max. Max stayed in close touch the entire time.
Once it came time for the insulation work, Max and his team provided top notch service. They were clean, efficient and extremely professional. Big shout out to Cortez and Thomas (there was a third guy the first day but I didn’t catch his name — he was great too) for their wonderful work and exemplary customer service. The work was completed early and Max communicated with us about the process the entire time. Max even had his team do little extras, like caulking around some windows and weather stripping some doors, to make sure we’d receive maximum benefit from the work.
As for the final result — it’s still relatively mild outside, but I can tell you we already feel a difference. There is no longer the huge temp disparity from room to room. No surprises when I look at the thermostat, no draftiness. The house already just feels more comfortable. If you aren’t sure what is causing your problem, or even if you are sure, do yourself a favor and call Max first. He will become a genuine partner with you in solving your insulation issues. I wholeheartedly recommend Max and his team.

What a wonderful and thoughtful person Max is! Although he knew right away by our phone description that the job in our attic was too small for his busy schedule, Max made a point of stopping by our house on his way home to personally look at the space and made recommendations on exactly what we needed to do. I was seriously concerned about all the good reviews I found when looking up Max Insulation. Figured a company with such overwhelmingly good reviews had to be faking some of them. But no… they really did live up to the good reviews. They were friendly and professional. They were downright fanatical about transparent, ethical business practices. They cut less holes than the other contractors were suggesting, but still did a good job.
Checking my utility costs compared to last year, it looks like I saved about 33% this summer, on electricity.
So good price, good service, and the end result was effective.

I contacted Max Insulation on August 6 to request a consultation. I received an email on Friday the 7^th stating someone would get back to me about scheduling it by early the following week. I emailed the following Thursday and Friday to inquire and let them know I wanted to complete the job by Labor Day. On Saturday I get an email asking to schedule the consultation for the week of the 23^rd. We go for today, August 25^th at 2pm.
Today at 10am I get this email:
We have some exciting news here at Max Insulation. Max was selected by the District as a verified vendor to execute Home Energy Audits for homes in DC. This requires him to participate in a two-​day Building Science Examination. While we are happy to share this new with you, this means we will need to postpone this week’s appointment. Seriously??? I saw the email two hours after it was sent… at noon. Two hours before the appointment. I’m sure the service is phenomenal but the customer service… Not so much! Will find someone else.

Highly professional and competent. I hired Max to clean up mothballs that had been spilled in my attic in a misguided attempt to drive away squirrels. He vacuumed everything out and replaced the fiberglass insulation I had just had blown-​in with cellulose. He walked me through the entire process and spent a great deal of time answering my many questions about how to insulate everything properly.

We recently contacted Max Insulation to insulate the roof of The Big Board and we could not be happier that we did. From our initial contact to the completion of our insulation work, Max was professional, prompt and courteous. The work was completed on Budget and within the

Great experience working with Max and his crew. Needed to add soundproofing to existing basement apartment. Max was very timely with delivering the quote and finished the actual soundproofing work ahead of schedule. There were some issues with the drywall/​painter subcontractor but Max stayed on top of the subcontractor to ensure the work was top notch. His team was very professional and meticulous with cleaning up the apartment when they were done. His crew was also very helpful with other tasks around the house. We hired Max to provide insulation for our attic along with building up a deck for storage in the attic. Max was great at communication throughout the process from quoting to completion. He made a point of trying to understand what our problems were and how he could best address our comfort needs. He was very professional and knowledgeable while inspecting our house and attic an making recommendations. He didn’t try to sell us on options we didn’t need.
The crew that came out and did the work were courteous, pleasant, and hard workers. The job got done within the time laid out and they did a great job of leaving the house the same as when they came in. We now have great storage in our attic now along with being up to modern building standards in insulation. I’ve already referred him to one of my close friends and would hesitate to refer him to others.

We hired Max to insulate our attic. On hot summer days, our AC would run nonstop and the temperature in the house would be between 80 – 83 degrees. The difference is incredible! Now the house is cool and the AC has barely been running.
Max is very knowledgeable, he explained everything, and he gave us a reasonable estimate price. I felt confident from our initial meeting that he would produce quality results. He’s a very nice guy and his work crew are also a very nice, professional group of men. They’re very competant, they know their stuff, and they made sure everything was satisfactory before they left. Working in less than favorable conditions in an extremely hot, cramped attic, they got the job done in a reasonable amount of time, even despite the distractions that my 3 toddlers and my overly friendly Labrador may have caused!

Basically, my AC runs non-​stop. It keeps the house cool, but it also tripled my electric bill. I figured that our new home was poorly insulated and the cool air was leaving too quickly. Our house is a refurb and we just moved in. Max Insulation came by yesterday to give me an estimate on new insulation. Turns out, I don’t need new insulation. That’s great news because it was going to cost me upwards of $ 2K for the job. Some companies would have taken a look at the job, decided that I was a simpleton for not knowing what I did and did not need, and summed me up as a sucker and a good source for an easy buck. Max did NOT do that, and so right from the start, thank you very much!
But that’s not all. Max took the time to help me to come up with reasons that I was having problems in the first place. Max found a couple areas that could use improvement, but said that more insulation would not be worth the cost and effort at this time. After checking the attic, he checked every vent, my HVAC, my fireplaces and this weird, left over ceiling vent from back when they used a very different heating and cooling system (my house is old). He then gave me a couple of ideas of what might be the problem and how to go about fixing them. Then he left, without charging me even for the visit!
If ALL companies worked on this level of personal attention, professionalism and honesty, there would be no need for websites like Unilocal because the world would be perfect.

This is a great company. Max, the owner, was very responsive and informative when he came to our house. We live in a 1940’s house with inadequate insulation which resulted in very hot summer temperatures in the house.
His price was competitive but very fair. He uses quality materials.
Scheduling was easy (He was extremely organized, for example, he sent outlook reminders of the appointment times and also for the day of the service! Little things like that are so appreciated when things are busy.
His crew was punctual, professional and quick.

I found Max Insulation from a friend who was incredibly happy with their work (not sure if he left a review online). I had moved into a condo just before winter and spent it miserably huddled in quilts on the couch. The heat would be set to 70 and yet 51 degrees in the living room, according to my portable thermometer. I couldn’t go through another winter like that so I started looking for help.
Max came over, climbed into all 3 attic spaces (they’re separated) and surveyed what might be causing such heat loss. He identified immediately several causes (recessed lighting, inadequate coverage, and inadequate R rating insulation) and sent a crew over to take care of it. The crew was fantastic! They were polite, professional, knowledgeable and funny, offered to show me the work they had done and cleaned up after themselves in detail I have never before seen (indeed my house was in nicer shape after they left than it was before they got there!). Highly recommend this company.

After reading my first review, Max just couldn’t stand that there were some minor threads hanging from the first go-​around. So, he begged me to come out and handle those little issues for free. He did so, and I have to admit he’s a great businessman. He wants you happy, and he won’t quit until you are. Highly recommended.

Max insulated our gut renovation in November. Last night our furnace blew the compressor switch last night. The thermostat was set at 68°.
When I woke up this morning, our thermostat read 66°. My sister-​in-​law had two space heaters going in the basement all day today, but no other heat sources throughout the house. Then when I went home this evening the thermostat read 65 — — with no heat supplied to the upper two levels all day long.

Max did a terrific job soundproofing my basement. He performed excellent work, completed it in a shorter-​than-​expected period, and at a lower-​than-​expected price.
The goal was to create an in-​law suite in my basement. A major hurdle was audibly separating the two spaces and finding a contractor who had experience in this area. Max had more than the requisite experience and in particular, extensive knowledge on how to tackle the unique challenges associated with my particular situation (complex layout, the space above had hardwood floors).
The result was exactly what I wanted. Sound transmission reduced more than I thought was possible and inspired confidence that the two spaces are now truly «separate.»

Look no further! After an underwhelming estimate and lack of information and expertise from a big box store, I decided to cull reviews for insulation — especially for old houses. Max knows his stuff. We had barely up to code insulation that was leaving a draft in the house and causing wildly inconsistent heating and cooling variations. He got me a lower estimate with more service!
What I was impressed with most besides the fact he is extremely reliable and personable, was his ability to assess and separate essential insulation needs within your price range. Our attic had not been touched in probably 15 – 20 years — Max and his crew removed the old and inefficient, kept what was usable and then blew in fiberglass and also installed radiant foil. Cannot believe the temperature consistency on the second floor now. Easily, there was a 4 – 5 degree difference that is now barely any change.
