We have been working with McEnearney for about 4 years. We first started working with them when we needed to move from Maryland to New York. They helped us prep our house for listing on the rental market and quickly found us a tenant. Communication was great, especially considering we were in another state. We were well informed throughout the application and approval process. The tenant was great(she signed a two year lease and renewed it for another two years). McEnearney made sure the house was always in good shape and informed us whenever any maintenance was needed. The tenant was also quite happy as any request was quickly relayed to us and McEnearney went out of their way to make sure both tenant and owner were happy. E.g., when our old landscapers had a disagreement with the tenant, McEnearney quickly found a different company and forwarded proposals to us. They also made sure the tenant was happy with the new landscapers when she had requests beyond the proposed service. When the tenant had to move due to a job transfer, McEnearney made sure everything went smoothly. They did a walkthrough of the house(other than a cleaning fee, the tenant got all of her security deposit back, plus interest), listed it for sale and quickly found a buyer. They coordinated an open house while the tenant was still there and even saved the tenant a bit of rent by moving the closing date up so that the sale and her move out was within a week of each other, it couldn’t have been more perfect. We would definitely work with McEnearney again, just wish they were in New York City as well.

If I could post negative stars I would. This rental property management company is terrible. The house that we rented had water issues that were never addressed, the house and yard were in poor conditions when we moved in. The landlord and manager charged me all of my deposit(minus 600.00) for issues that I felt should have not been charged(as there was clearly zero money put into this house before we moved in. I feel like they are charging me what they Landlord needs to pay to fix the house). The«yard clean up» I was charged 1200.00 for a yard that had holes, weeds, and just poor conditions in general when we moved in. They also charged me to clean the house, even though we used the cleaning company they suggested. I feel the amount of money they took from us is unreasonable, and borderline criminal. DONOTRENTFORMTHISPROPERTYMANAGEMENTCOMPANY!

We rented a home for two years and the property managers were McEnearney Associates, Inc. They were extremely unhelpful and unfairly biased towards the needs and desires of the owner during the time we rented there. We paid $ 4800 a month with a $ 9800 security deposit and would expect to have had much better service from a property manager. We always paid our rent on time, were a family that treated the house like our own(including paying the owner’s housekeeper to clean the house every other week during the entire duration of the lease for $ 150/per visit), hardly ever requested anything from them except when absolutely necessary and were great renters. Both my husband and I own homes ourselves and rent them out, and we treated this home as we would want our renters to treat ours. However during our stay there we had several requests which included getting the heat turned back on when it broke during the dead of winter. After multiple requests, it took over 1 week to get them to turn it back on. Additionally, when we requested to have the walls painted and fixed due to the many holes and cracks that were left when we moved in, the request was denied. McEnearney Associates, Inc. was slow to answer any requests, and slower to do anything about them. Additionally, when we moved out they kept close to $ 7000 of our security deposit, which they did not give back until the 45th day(the last possible day that they have legally) with charges that including over $ 1000 in cleaning charges and over $ 1000 in charges to mulch and replace bushes in the back of the house. Keep in mind that when we moved out, we had not employed a professional cleaner, and had only cleaned ourselves since we moved out over a holiday weekend. We were expecting that the owner would have the housekeeper come and do a once over to deep clean at the typical charge of $ 150/visit and no more than $ 300 if it took her twice as long. Over $ 1000 would account for more than 6 full day cleanings, which is absurd. We had personally swept and washed all of the floors, wiped down the baseboards and cabinets, cleaned the refrigerator and oven, etc. The house had no broken glass, no trash, very minor wear one part of the wood floors were the kitchen stools were(and for that we were also charged over $ 1000), etc. It was in no way in a state that should have required close to $ 7000 in fees charged, not to mention the fact that we had already spent over $ 1000 ourselves getting prepared to leave. After multiple attempts to appeal that the charges were excessive, they were denied byMcEnearney Associates, Inc.(who was also very slow to respond) and we will be forced to pursue this in small claims court since they charges us so unfairly. If you are considering renting a property where McEnearney Associates, Inc. is the property manager, I would think twice. They do not care at all for the needs or the right to be fair to the tenant, and will provide poor customer service with large charges taken out of your security deposit. I would not recommend this agency at all and will never again work with them.
