I can’t even leave a review, really, because we never got to see him. We booked an appointment for a few weeks in the future and called the morning of to confirm. Apparently they had no record that we even had the appointment. Okay, that’s weird, we’ll try again. We booked another appointment for a few weeks after that, and made sure this time that we were both set on it. We actually talked to him, not any kind of secretary(he books appts over his cell phone) so we were sure that it would be fine to just show up at his office without another confirmation call. Well, my husband took the day off work, drove down to Adams Morgan, and we rung the buzzer to be let upstairs into the dentist’s office. It rang endlessly before someone finally answered saying the doctor wasn’t even in the office, and that he would call us back. It has been a week. Never got a phone call. We genuinely wish we got to freaking meet the dentist. Our insurance covers a limited amount of doctors in the area and this guy was one of the only ones we could see. I can’t believe how unprofessional this office is. They don’t seem to record appointments, they«book» them over a mobile phone(he said he was driving at the time, too!), and then aren’t even in the office when you show up. Oh, he’ll call us back? Not really. Also I confirm what the other reviewers said. He asked like 8 times if his name was on our insurance card, before taking any other information. I’m not even going to try to book a third appointment, or even call him again. I don’t think anyone else should, either. It’s a waste of time.

I have been Dr. Haddad’s patient for more than seven years(2004 — 2011). He is great. He doesn’t upsell or press for unnecessary work(a rarity in DC dentists). His office is no-frills, located in what appears to be a mixed business/residential building; and he provides a bit of charity care for the community, especially for more complex and pressing issues like root canals. The good thing is that he has a lot of experience in a wide variety of treatments. Dr. Haddad is compassionate and has a nice bedside manner. He has always been kind, gentle, and courteous to me. I’ve rarely had to wait more than ten minutes. He has taken great care of my teeth and as result, I’m proud to say that I’ve had terrific oral health for the entire time that I have been his patient — not one root canal in 7 years. He took care to use the white fillings so they would not show — a previous dentist didn’t do that. Once when I got several fillings done, he was willing to negotiate the price with me for my copays — which is unheard of in the larger, bureaucratic dentist offices. He basically runs a one-man office, reducing overhead costs as much as possible. I actually like that he answers his own office phone sometimes — better for me, as the patient, to work directly with my dentist. I changed jobs recently and am very sad that my insurance doesn’t have an arrangement with his office. Reading the other reviews, it’s not fair to give a one-star review if you haven’t even been in the office, or a one-star review without some justification of what went wrong. It is true that the office is spartan and basic. Sometimes the waiting room smells faintly of cigarette smoke — I’ve never seen anyone smoking in there. On the other hand, other dentists unethically have charged me hundreds of dollars for probably more work than I needed in the past, and I certainly cannot make that accusation of Dr. Haddad. So I’ll put up with the cell phone appointments, basic office, and the occasional faint smoke smell. What matters is the dentistry, not the fancy outer wrapping. I strongly recommend Dr. Haddad for excellent dental care. Shame on the one other reviewer who rated him poorly and NEVEREVENMETHIM. That review should be thrown out.
