Was a patient here for five years — after long office waits(over 1.5 hours on a regular basis with a scheduled appointment) and an incredible mishap with test results(they never called me with some test results that needed fairly immediate attention and sent me a letter 6 months later urging me to come in for an appointment — VERY scary to receive in the mail), I ended up going elsewhere. Loved Dr. Bajaj but after realizing just how close I came to a life-threatening health issue(what if that letter had gotten lost in the mail and I never went back in!!!), I went elsewhere.

I have been a patient of Dr. Safrans since the early 90s and I was shocked to see these bad reviews. He has always taken time with me, and he was the only doctor we trusted enough to deliver our only child. Dr Safran has always returned calls and emails to me and followed up on results thoroughly. His staff is personable and effcient, every time I have been there and I have come to know some of them quite well. There are several other docs in this practice that I also know and admire. True it is a very busy practice and I wish that Dr. Safran would go back to doing OB as well as gyn but you cant have everything in a doc of this type. Its convenient to my work and they always fit me in …I would never switch from him. He has always made an effort to know me and take care of my needs, even noting when i have forgotten to send a holiday card one year.

I had a gyno that I LOVED that used to be in this office before it was taken over by Physicians of Washington Charter. I went here once, and fortunately my gyno moved to greener(and friendlier, more efficient) pastures. They operate this chain like a business, and it’s incredibly impersonal. When I went, I had to wait forever for my appointment, and when I finally did get called back, the room wasn’t ready, so I had to wait in some random blood-drawing area while the nurse, who was incredibly rude, went off to go gossip. I was there for at least 10 minutes, and when I asked the nurse about the room, she was just rude. A horrible, horrible place — you don’t want that kind of service when someone’s all up in you like that!

My experience with Dr. Safran, one of the doctors in this office, was terrible, and other people on Unilocal have had similar experiences with this office, it sounds like. Everyone on the staff was impersonal or even downright rude to me. Dr. Safran rushed me in and out and even forgot to do part of the exam and had to come back in while I was changing to do everything all over again. He also took a personal phone call while in the exam room with me. This office has many doctors and it seems they are overbooked because the office was really crowded when I went there. The lab results department was slow to get my results to me, and did not return some of my phone calls. I don’t even think they sent me all of my results. The billing department was a nightmare, as if the visit was not bad enough. I had to call them multiple times over a period of about 6 months to get hundreds of dollars refunded from them. They kept saying they would refund my money and get back to me, but they never did, which is why I had to be persistent in calling them in order to finally get a refund. In all fairness, I was recommended to this office by a friend who had had a good experience here. She said that Dr. Safran was fine with her because she had a specific problem and had to ask a lot of questions. Maybe it is the case that if you have an emergency, they will spend time with you, but for a routine visit, they really rush you through. I myself am in the process of finding a new OBGYN.
