Optimal Preventive Medicine

Dr. Sylvia Medley is the physician at Optimal Preventive Medicine. I essentially picked her from a list of primary care physicians because she was a woman, her practice was close to my office, and the receptionist raved about her. This is a small practice, which is what I wanted, but I had to wait more than a month for an appointment because I called just before Dr. Medley was out of the office for a vacation or conference or something. I was impressed; however, when I called for the appointment because Dr. Medley answered the phone herself. Apparently the receptionist was on her lunch break.
When the day came for my appointment I arrived early and much to my surprise I did not have to wait one bit. At my previous PCP I sometimes had to wait 45 after my appointment time despite having arrived early. Although the purpose for my visit was very basic, I was thoroughly surprised and impressed at how thorough Dr. Medley was for my initial exam as a first time patient. She spent a considerable amount of time with me, and I was not rushed in and out in 5 minutes as I have grown accustomed to be treated by other doctors. Dr. Medley took the time to listen to me, explore if I had any symptoms for issues I had and was not quick to give me a referral and rush me out of the office.
For the blood test, Dr. Medley’s phlebotomist was great. The experience was fast, painless and did not leave a big bruise like the last time I had to give a blood sample.
The only reason I have not given this practice five stars was because the receptionist needs a little polishing. When I called post my appointment, she was chewing or eating something quite loudly as she was speaking to me. Speaking with one’s mouth full is gross, but while on the phone, it is rude.
Still, I highly recommend the services of Dr. Medley at Optimal Preventive Medicine.
