Very pretty building, located conveniently near the White House and the Farragut metro stations(Red and Blue/Orange lines). I attended a graduation function here and truly enjoyed walking through the dignified walkway, seeing the lovely fountain, and partaking in a nice afternoon snack in the main room. It was an excellent place to have a graduation event and I’m glad to have experienced it.

Beautiful venue for an event. I had nothing to do with the planning of it and was lucky to be a guest. However, ladies beware you have to go up and down some lovely marble(I think?) stairs to use the restroom… just for your shoe planning needs. I didn’t think the food was all that great, pretty standard banquet fare. Very pretty inside though.

Ha ha — why did the person below give 2* for a purely informational review? This is a fabulous event space, though I’ve only gone to parties here as an attendee and never an organizer.(I have no clue how much it costs to rent — probably a lot.) Where else in the city can you enter on a winter’s day and suddenly be in a small indoor jungle, the centerpiece of which is an enormous(~50′) fig-slash-rubber tree planted in 1910 by William Howard Taft? You feel you’re in, like, the palace of Elrond.

The good: The non-profit I worked for last summer held a gala there. Amazing venue, beautiful ballroom and courtyard. The bad: I realized I left my coat there and came back the next week to get it. I have never endured such hostility in an official government setting. All the staff looked at me as if I had bombs strapped to my waist. Security wouldn’t even let me go through the metal detector. An inquiry about my coat led to an angry«No.» One of them even followed me out of the building and watched me until I had left the property. The moral of the story: Enjoy the OAS building, but don’t leave your shit there!
