With food trucks you never know what you are going to get. This truck always delivers an excellent philly style cheesesteak that comes out piping hot. The portion is pretty large and I usually have to share it with a coworker. This truck gets a lot of business and the line gets long fast.

I had been craving a cheesesteak for a few weeks now so when we were walking around the national mall and stumbled upon this food truck, I was sold! We opted to share the $ 9.99 special, which includes a Philly chicken or steak sandwich along with fries and a soda. Plenty of food for two people. The fries were delicious — really tasty seasoning and generous portion. We opted for the chicken sandwich which came with provolone, peppers, onions, tomato, lettuce, and mayo. Very tasty and roll was perfectly toasted. Not nearly as good as the true cheesesteaks I’ve had in Philly but still hit the spot!

One of few food trucks that I find myself returning to whenever they are around. It’s bad food good. Usually slower than most other food trucks but people seem to stick around and endure the wait, including myself. With so many that have jumped on the bandwagon, many food trucks are a hit or miss these days but you won’t go wrong with this one.

Easily one of the best cheesesteaks I’ve ever had. I got the Philly Cheesesteak Supreme which is the same as the normal cheesesteak but with green peppers and mushrooms added. The bread was soft and there was a good amount of meat and filling– juicy and flavorful! It gets busy! The line to order isn’t long, but there were 12 orders ahead of me after I ordered. Worth the wait though!

Saw the food truck parked outside of all the museums in DC was ravenously hungry and ordered the BBQ Philly Cheese Steak. Service was friendly; the food came out quick. I was disappointed in the cheese steak and found it to be A-OK, but as you can see in this review — it didn’t inspire me to write love letters, poems, hymns, etc. The meat was a bit dry and wasn’t the best quality, but there was quite a lot of it. I didn’t find the barbecue sauce to go well with the sandwich and if I lived in the area, I’d order a regular Philly to give them another shot!

About a 3.5: I’ve been meaning to try Philly Steak Bites for some time and was able to catch them at Metro Center. I first have to really commend these guys in always updating their social media on their locations and the times, and even responding to their fans! The menu offers a selection of cheesesteaks — the Philly Cheese Steak, the Classic, Pizza Cheese Steak, Barbecue Steak, the Hungry Steak, Philly Cheese Steak Supreme, Philly Cheese Steak Deluxe, Chipotle Cheese Steak, the Heater Steak, the 3 Cheese Steak, Cheeseburger Sub, and even a Grill Veggie Sub. You can also opt for the chicken on any of the aforementioned ‘steaks.’ I tried the Classic, where it was a huge mound of chopped steak, fried onions, and Cheese Whiz — I also requested some mayo, because, why not?! :P The sub itself was pretty large, and the amount of meat was pretty overwhelming. Also, it was definitely on the ‘cheesier’ end, as these guys do NOT skimp out on the cheese! The cheesesteak itself tasted pretty okay, but it had a unique subtle hint of something to it — I am not sure if, aside from the salt and pepper they use to season their meats, it’s their grill that happen to be used for the veggies/burger/chicken. The bread itself is soft, but does get soggy pretty quickly with the amount of meat/cheese within. The guy taking the order was super friendly, and the truck now takes both card and cash. The one thing, however, is that since everything is made-to-order, it does tend to take a while to receive your food(there was a little line when I went, and I waited for about 30 minutes!)! I’d like to give this truck another try, especially for the 3 Cheese Steak one, because I think that’s more my cup of tea(with the Cheese Whiz, American, and Provolone, all in 1) :D +generous amount of meat! +offers combo(with fries and a drink; restricted to Philly Cheese Steak or the Chicken) +made-to-order(can take some time!) +friendly staff! +great in updating their social media on locations daily! :D +located at G and 12th(when at Metro Center)

We were walking back to our car after watching the 4th of July parade and saw a street full of food trucks. With kids and parents hungry, finding a restaurant that would serve food quickly was going to be a challenge we decided to get our chairs and sit in front of a food truck for a quick meal. I saw this truck and I do not regret eating here at all. This is the best philly steak sandwich I have ever had. It is even better than Geno’s Steaks(which btw is extremely overrated). Fresh quality ingredients make this sandwich a great quick meal!

I was browsing for new food trucks and I came across Philadelphia Steak Bites. Can you please come to NoMa at First and M St. NE, Washington, DC20002. Your menu is something that I am looking for during lunch instead eating the same meals everyday. Please consider coming to NoMa if you can!

My go-to food truck and it is really solid. Never had a bad experience. The fries are just as good as the cheese steak, if not better, so make sure you get them!

Whoa, didn’t know this food truck was so close to my good govt job in DC. I had the regular Philly steak with no cheese wiz and it definitely«Set It Off» right(Jada Pinkett)! That was a 90’s movie reference for the non-hip ;) Now that I know it is there I’m biting at the bit to try the Chicken cheesesteak… next time. I’m only holding out a star because I’m the supreme cheesesteak enthusiast and I don’t get to see them prepare it because they’re sitting up high. I wanna be able to see what you’re feeding me, yeah I’m like that.

This place is meh. When there are only 3 trucks on the street, then it is an option(especially if one is serving bubble tea). Prices are high considering what you get. If you are going to go here, get the combo so you at least get fries and a drink. I didn’t notice this until I had already ordered, and I didn’t have a hankering for fries. But from a value standpoint, I should have sucked it up. The phillys are average. 8 inch philly for 9 bucks isn’t what I would call a deal. Add on to that the fact that meat certainly isn’t the best quality, the service isn’t exactly prompt or friendly and you’ve got the makings of an average food truck. The taste is alright, it doesn’t blow my doors off, but it’s not gross. Thumbs firmly in the middle. If they moved to a 12″ philly and better quality meat, they would be a high 4 star truck.

My coworker and I were checking out what food trucks were in the area for lunch, and she wanted to give this place a try. My dad’s family is from outside of Philly, so I’ve had a real cheesesteak and definitely miss having easy access to them. That being said, I’ve been looking for a place to fill that void in the DC area. Philly Steak Bites just might be that place. I ordered The Classic w/American cheese. The meat on their steak was very flavorful and definitely not just steak-ums. I thought the cheese to meat ratio was pretty balanced. I would definitely order extra meat next time though. I could definitely taste the onions, but I couldn’t really tell they were on the sandwich. For me that’s not a bad thing, but if you really like your onions to make a statement in your sandwich, you may be disappointed. I also thought the bread was very good, and it didn’t feel like it was too much for the sandwich. This will definitely be a truck I’ll visit again.

I had lunch at a Philadelphia Steak Bites food truck that was parked at the National Mall. After spending the morning sightseeing, I was really having trouble deciding what to have for lunch. I made a few circuits of the food trucks in about a block radius and I eventually decided to try Philadelphia Steak Bites(amusingly there were two trucks parked almost right next to each other — I went for the one with the shorter line). I got the basic sandwich with provolone and it was really good. I got the combo — sandwich, fries and a drink for $ 10, which is a good price for the area. The fries were seasoned and were also yummy. It hit the spot :)

I am a meat eater but I reserve my love for red meat to lamb. And then, there are those sudden untimely cravings of a steak and cheese sammich! Despite the variety of sandwich places around my work, I have stuck to Subway(I know I know! Don’t roll your eyes!). As luck would have it, the day I decided to venture out and try something new, I came across this obviously named truck. I crossed my fingers and ordered and got exactly what I needed. A warm toasty cheesy ooey gooey steak and cheese sammich with plenty of fries. I was feeling so generous with my calorie intake that I even threw a Coke in that mix. And what a lovely mix it was!

One of my favorite food trucks so far. Those who follow me on Unilocal know that I’m a big chicken philly fan and very critical of those types of sandwiches. I love good ones and loathe when they’re not done right. Philly Steak Bites makes a mean chicken philly that was totally delicious on every level. And at under $ 10 for the sandwich, fries AND a drink, I dare you to find a better value out on the street in D.C. at lunchtime. Most trucks charge $ 9 – 10 just for the sandwich! The only downside is to get the $ 9.99 meal deal you get a basic sandwich and have to pay more to get the peppers and mushrooms that a real chicken philly needs. Still, when it comes to taste and making sure the bread doesn’t get soggy, etc., they do it right here. Will definitely get my business again.

When looking at food truck fiesta, I noticed no trucks by my office seemed to be my regulars. I then saw Steak Bites. «Oh that sounds interesting, I wonder what food they have.» Going to their page, I saw a truck that looked familiar. My clear predisposition for alzheimer’s was rearing its ugly head again. I’d been here before. I can see myself eating it, but I can’t remember the taste. Did I like it? I forgot to review it on Unilocal,so no help there. I went back and now I remember why I forgot to review it. It’s very forgettable cheesesteak. While the steak quality seems pretty solid(not overly fatty, nothing foreign in it), I have some critiques. The toppings are pretty stingy. I’m paying an extra 75 cents for green peppers and mushrooms, both of which are undetectable on my taste buds. Only an investigation into my sandwich with my glasses revealed that the ingredients were there at all. The biggest issue is the cheese. As Paul W. noted — what cheese? You’ll find MAYBE the whole of a kraft single size amount of cheese on an 8″ sandwich. I’m sorry but isn’t CHEESE the first word in the sandwich name for a reason? All you can really taste is the steak. It’s a meatwich. Additionally, this is one of the saltiest sandwiches I’ve ever tasted. It felt like I was chewing a meaty salt block. Not to mention they burned the bread, which I discovered after I already got back to the office. I want to like this truck, but too many arrows missing the target entirely. I’m off to drink a gallon of water.
