Premiere Painting

I had an experience very similar one of the other reviewers. I had to call them several times just to get them to come out and look at my home. Then I had to hound them for the estimate — which never came. It’s an interesting way to run a business. Not necessarily effective, but interesting.

They were hired to paint a 2 floor office. They did not look at the entire scope of work provided to them before they submitted a quote. That quote outbid every other painter we propositioned. The day before they were to start they said that they were not going to be able to do it for the original amount. Without another choice we were forced to use them. They scoped the work and said they could do it in 2 days. They were instructed to paint certain rooms immediately as the items in said rooms could be returned on the second day while they painted the rest of the space. They did not do that. They were supposed to be finished by 7 PM on the second day, which was a Sunday. At that time all the painters left. The manager, and one of the brothers of the owner, went out to get the painters back. He told me that he told them that they wouldn’t be paid for the 2 days of work they’d already done, if they did not return. We stayed until 11:42 that night. In the end they had to come back and fill in the spots they missed. Despite the poor job I’d never work with them again based on how they treat their workers.

Steve, the president of Premier Painting, came to my apartment in Dupont Circle a month ago, after numerous phone calls to set up an appointment, and sent me an estimate within a few days. But then they did not return several more phone calls and emails to schedule the painting. I’m going elsewhere, tired of waiting on them.

Première painted the exterior of my old DC rowhouse in 2007 and it’s held up really well. The workers were very neat and clean, didn’t leave anything behind. They throughly cleaned the surface before painting, pointed out and repaired some rotten wood around my window frames (for a reasonable fee), and expertly painted the brick surface, wood, and metal trim in 2 or 3 days. The workers were friendly, and were even nice to my jerk indoor cats who constantly tried to escape while they painted the doors. It’s been 3 years now and the paint looks as good as the day they finished. I hope they’ve kept this work crew, because I really recommend them.

Interesting situation I suppose. I just bought a house and left 3 weeks between closing and move-​in to deal with painting, etc.
I called up Première Painting for an estimate and they brought a guy over to do some measurements. I guess the two brothers that own the place were on vacation, but I was told multiple times they’d be in touch with me ASAP with a quote. That quote never came. I sent an email 3 days later telling them I no longer required a quote and they didn’t seem to care.
Also, the guy that came to do the estimate didn’t take his shoes off when he came into my place. Every other estimator did. And he didn’t much seem to care what brand of paint we used. This struck me is odd especially when everyone was telling us to stay away from the Home Depot stuff.
