This is a review for Pure Barre Cathedral Commons! The pluses: The website is easy to navigate and there are good ‘trial deals’. Also, lots of class time options to sign up for or cancel online. Arrival at the studio includes a greeting and an informative intro if you are new(I was). They are right on it. Getting down to brass tacks: the class was great. No fuss, friendly and motivating instructor. It started and finished on time. 55 minutes flew by. It was a positive, unintimidating atmosphere: people of all ages and types trying really hard to do their personal best, which was encouraging. To continue — you really feel the ‘burn’ as you go through the reps. It is a great way to ‘hit’ every single part of your body in a meaningful way. I will need to build up strength-I often had to take a short break during a rep but then got back into it. The transitions from exercise to exercise are super easy. You never have to go get a mat etc. The associates assist with all the getting and stowing of the ‘props’ so the full 55 minutes is you and your exercise. I love the encouraging count downs. Last, I like how the shades and then lights are lowered in the class as you move to your final deepest stretch after all the exercises. I left feeling energized and wanting to go back and then I actually DID. This is a key for me – a routine I can be consistent with. Update: I’ve been doing it for about 2 weeks and do see changes. I also attended the free«breaking down the bar» workshop that I recommend. You don’t have to do it before trying. Actually, it makes more sense once you have done a few lessons and have a context. They explain the right form to get the most out of every exercise, and walk around and check while you try it. In a nutshelll. the guided 55 minutes of PuerBarre feels a lot more effective than the peddadling on machines I do by myself at the gym and I’m eager to stick with it.
