Burgers — awesome. Happy Hour specials — previously, well worth the trip. Until today, when I realized they chill their liquor bottles in the same ice they dish out and serve in drinks. Speaking as a former bartender, I know that’s a major HEALTHVIOLATION. Read on for the details — the service is always hit or miss — & I come often enough to see a spectrum of stellar to «can’t be bothered/why am I here/why are you bugging me?» wait staff. The latest experience at the upstairs bar — I ordered a burger & drink at the bar, went & sat at the far side of the deck, overlooking 18th. The bartender brought my drink, asked for my credit card for the tab, and I asked for water. She took my card, but pointed back to the far side of her bar, on the far side of the deck, to a small urn of water. «There it is,» she said. Oh. So… as I went to get myself water from a trickling tap that took a couple minutes to fill even half of the wet plastic cup, I thought, «wait, I’d like ice too.» Until I looked behind the bar and noticed the bartender was dishing ice into glasses… out of an ice bin that she’d stuck four liquor bottles into to chill. Ugh. Liquor bottles that would otherwise be sitting on an open outdoor shelf… with labels I could see were peeling into the ice from condenstation. I didn’t even want to drink my expensive drink, knowing where the ice had come from. Someone else — a gentleman whose service has always been faultless — delivered my burger, which was excellent as always. But I tipped the bartender only 10% and got the heck out of there. No more Rebellion DC for me.

Nice spot with a great selection of Whiskey. Cigars can be had on the rooftop. Nice location and good service. I stopped here while waiting for Jack Rose to open. Nice to see a bar open earlier than 5pm. I’ll be back next time for sure to check out the cocktails!

Outdoor and rooftop seating is a welcome paradise in a city that has literally nothing to offer(jk!). Great specials but just an fyi: if u order a bucket, they crack the beers prior to serving so u cannot shove the beers into ur purse and peace.

Eh, the spot and environment was 5 stars for the edginess but the actual quality of the BBQ was just pretty. Regular. Portions are massive everything was cooked well but I think it needed more seasoning. The place was packed and seemed to have limited service staff. Our waitress was nice but very very busy. As a waitress myself I would have been stressing out wishing there was more staff on the floor to help me. Don’t know if I’d come back but it’s decent.

Rebellion took excellent care of us last night as we celebrated our friends’ 20th wedding anniversary. Lindsay was great and stayed on top of everything we needed, even as we jumped around tables as our group expanded outside and inside. Big selection of beers, whiskey’s and spirits for everyone, an excellent drink list, and good food. Brian runs a tight ship and is fantastic. Vet owned, operated, and supported — none better! Thanks for a great night!

This place does awesome upscale takes on traditional bar food. Their featured burgers are out of this world and you HAVE to try the Fatty Mac. They are a vet owned business and frequently hold benefits for veterans, wounded warriors, and those who have fallen. Not to mention, they’ve got a sick whiskey selection you can enjoy without the snobbish uppity city crowd. My go-to bar!

Had a wonderful experience today at Rebellion. My first time. Food was kicking, maybe it was because it hit the spot, DC, rain, again. Or maybe the pork belly«sandwich» and the Rebel Yell were just that good. And the pork rinds, and the kale salad, and the eggs on top. And the service. Check it out.

Stumbled upon Rebellion with some friends and was pleasantly surprised. We sat at the main level bar for the majority of the time but also explored the basement which was cool and quieter. They also have an upstairs but it wasn’t open at the time we went. Nice vibes in the place and the food was good. I tried the Low and Slow Belly, which was pork belly and polenta and pickled onions, maybe something else as well, but it was very tasty and everything on their menu is so cheap. I honestly don’t think anything was more than $ 15. If I’m ever hungry or looking for a drink in that area, I’d definitely stop by again.

Stopped here Tuesday night for ½ priced bottle wine night! They have a revamped menu! My friend and I ordered salads because we were trying to be healthy and boy am I happy we did. The salads were amazing! In the past, I’ve also enjoyed their candied bacon and burgers.

We popped by for our first experience after hearing that Chef Travis is no in charge of the kitchen. They have a rooftop bar and café seating outside, but we decided to sit at the bar. Its a young crowd with a lot of energy with floor to ceiling open windows making for great natural light. We popped down to check out their basement bar, The Armory, and its a very cool space. My lady enjoyed a couple of their creative cocktail options, El Diplomatico was her favorite. I was in a beer mood and had a local 3 Stars draught and a bottle of Victory Prima Pils. We tried three small plates: Deviled Eggs, Grilled Pork Belly and Pickled Salmon. All three were great. I want to come back for their burger, the burgers that Chef made at Mad Fox were the best I’ve ever had. Its nice to have another good bar with great food.

Great pork food. Was perfect for a late sunday lunch after a late Saturday night. Enjoyed the giant pretzel and pork belly with egg. Was tender and flavorful. Husband got the breakfast sandwich, said bacon was good and think and bread was good. Next time I hope to try the bloody mary

This place is around the corner from where I live, but honestly I’ve been there less than three times. I really, really wanted to have a cool neighborhood bar, but every time I went there, something was always a little off… However I was happy to see the revamp of the menu with a new chef so decided to check it out Monday for happy hour and their ½ priced burgers. Now I’m happy. $ 3 beers, $ 5 wine and $ 5 for their 1836 Burger which was fantastic! One of the best deals in Dupont. The burger itself was phenomenal; two 4 oz patties cooked a perfect med rare, red onions, white American and 1000 island. Just a great messy burger. And the fresh fries were like crack. Will definitely come again as the rest of their menu looks great too.

Awesome spot to grab drinks. I came here with some friends on Wednesday for the first time and thought the service, atmosphere, and drinks were amazing. I’m definitely looking to coming back.

If you like whiskey and bourbon, then Rebellion is the place for you. Happy Hour 3:30−8pm: $ 3 domestic beers $ 5 well drinks $ 6 house wines There’s also daily deals and Fridays is $ 7 signature cocktails(7−10pm) for the ladies! :) I really enjoyed the drinks from the Legacy(«Al Capone’s fave drink») to the sweeter cocktails. On another note, I split the Triple Dip with friends and whole good it was pricey for what it was($ 9). I’m curious about the food, but I do know I love the cocktails! If I come back, I’m definitely going to the rooftop.

I came here on Saturday — I didn’t eat too much because we already came from eating. We had some drinks and I highly recommend the Gin Julep(I’m not positive on the name) but it’s something along those lines. It’s refreshing and hit the spot on a hot day sitting outside. Our nachos and dip and fried calamari were delicious and just enough for us. Our friends got French fries and jambalaya. The jambalaya was spicy but good and the fries looked crispy and yummy. They have a rooftop, outside seating and a nice ambiance inside with wine barrel tables and TV for sport events. I would go back. Enjoy!

We’ve come here a couple times, since it’s like right across the street from where we live. The atmosphere is pretty low key/bar style, and they’re well known for having lots of beers to choose from and pretty good food specials. I’ve tried the regular burger, smoked wings, and one of their specialty brisket burgers. The burgers are pretty good, though the brisket burger, which isn’t readily available, was superb compared to the regular burger. The regular burger is fine, just nothing to write home about. The smoked wings are tasty but a little bit odd texture wise — they didn’t get super crispy(of course, since they weren’t fried) but it gave them a little bit of a slimy type texture that I wasn’t crazy about. No matter what you order for dinner, be sure to get the fried pickle chips! These are out of this world and come with a homemade ranch that’s delicious. Overall the food is fine, but the service can be excruciatingly slow. The servers don’t seem to have a great pace, so it can be hard to order when your’e ready or get refills when your drink run out. Rebellion also seems to have trouble keeping beer in stock. Every time I’ve gone, they are out of multiple beers they have listed. I’ve also had them run out of a cider I was drinking after I finished the first one. Another time I went, my fiancé and friend had to order three or four different beers to find one that was available. Not sure I’d go out of my way to come to Rebellion, but it’s a good option for a chill night for burgers and beer.

We came here for a quick dinner on a Thursday night and were seated immediately, which was great. The ambiance is great– a lot of dark wood that makes it feel like a whiskey bar without trying too hard. It’s very cozy and homey feeling. We started off with some fried pickles that were great– very well-breaded and not that crappy stuff that slides off the second you bite it. Let’s talk about the pulled pork sandwich… WOW. The blend of sauce and meat was perfection, and the sauce was just the right amount of tangy. Throw some well-executed cole slaw on top with a hint of acid and the right amount of brunch, and it makes for the most delicious pulled pork sandwich I’ve had pretty much ever… Cap it off with crazy cheap happy hour beers, and you’ve got me sold to come back!

This is MY happy place. Any bar that offers 150 types of bourbon and whiskey and a specialty hot sauce bar is my version of heaven on earth. Rebellion will take you back to a simpler time and it will remind you of Knoxville. The exposed brick will just be enough to make your body quiver. Make your way to Rebellion for a casual Sunday brunch or an after work happy hour. BRUNCH– $ 7 mimosa option – how can you go wrong with that? OR the option of a make your own Bloody Mary bar. If you are jonesing for a salad, get the southern chicken salad. If you are in the mood for a sandwich try the pulled pork and if you are craving a little salty treat go for the fried pickles. Rebellion’s menu offers classic American comfort food with a Southern twist, and it’s a twist that is worth trying.

A pretty good bar that will attract a large clientele with its hipster feel and rooftop bar. Stopped in at Rebellion on a busy Friday night at around 8PM. The place was full, but the hostess did everything she could to locate a seat for us. Ultimately, we found room upstairs on the rooftop bar. Even though it was crowded, our bartenders were quick to serve. We ordered the friend pickles — delicious and quickly served. The happy hour specials are also very good: $ 5 house wines & rails, $ 3 domestic cans, ½ price bar bites. Not a bad place to chill out before heading to Adams Morgan.

Great rooftop bar when weather is nice! Beer: I arrived after 7pm on a Tuesday — and light beers were on special for $ 3! Food: I ordered a hamburger and fries. Both fantastic. Would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for tasty food at a bar!
