I visited this store after reading reviews here, and found it interesting but ultimately disappointing. I like the designers they carry(e.g., Helmut Lang, Dries Van Noten, Martin Margiela) and the prices didn’t surprise me, but Relish seems to curate its stock towards a very particular look, and it is not mine. I like clothes that are monochromatic and simple with clean lines. Relish struck me as leaning towards a very very stiff architectural style, with thick, heavy fabrics, lots of tweed, lots of shiny embellishments, and heavy on the rust, hunter green, navy and wine.(In June, no less.) Overall, I found the clothes dour and couldn’t really figure out who would wear them. They read to me 50+. That said, the shoe collection was edgy and interesting.

The reason this does not get 4 stars is due to the owner. It saddens me that a shop as beautiful as this has an owner so full of BADENERGY. It’s unnerving at times. My heart goes out to the sales staff as it must be difficult for them to work with her on a daily basis. Before entering the store, I recommend protecting yourself from the owner’s bad energy by putting up a «force-field of positive energy» around your body — because it is worth while to venture in. Yes, it is pricey but if you buy one piece a season you will be amazed at how quickly you can have amazing«go to» pieces in your wardrobe that last season after season.

Today I was shopping and walked into this store. It looks very nice from the outside. However the customer service leaves a bad feeling in my stomach. The person I dealt with was the store owner. If I owned a store I would make it my business to be nice to everyone who walks in. I would not shop at this store with all of the other great stores in the Georgetown area who know what customer service is.

Want a sexy slip of a thing that will entice him? Go elsewhere. Want that«IT» piece all the girls are after? Keep moving along. Want something that goes beyond pretty and turns you into a chic sophisticate? Your bucks stop here.

Aptly named, you will relish something in this store. You’ll encounter occasionally elusive and luxe brands like Dries Van Noten, Marni and Jil Sander in this shop in Cady’s Alley(DC’s «design district»). Relish is housed in a very pleasant space and is conveniently located across from Leopold’s if you’re hungry, and Jewelers Werk if you want a truly unique piece of jewelery. The store has a nice vibe to it. There’s no shortage of beautiful things here though their high prices make many of them out of reach for the average shopper. Relish is closed on Sundays.
