To much hype tho. Very good, tried their frozen hot chocolate, black and white sundae. For entrees we shared spaghetti and their hot foot long chili dog. It’s deff worth a try for their desserts as for main course meals they are alright but not the best! Very good desserts though and the service wasn’t bad.

I never ate their food, but I went for the sundae. It was decent but way overpriced and not worth the money. It is just a tourist trap. I understand why they shut down.

I went here on my first day in Georgetown with my best friend. We went for the famous frozen hot chocolate, but both of us were especially satisfied with the actual food we got too! The cheeseburger was huge and cooked just how I ordered, and it was seasoned perfectly. Also, our waiter was too cool. He was so happy and likable! You can’t keep from smiling around such happy people! He took great care of us, and joked around too. The frozen hot chocolate was huge! It’s good for sharing, sadly, we got so full that we couldn’t finish it, and didn’t want to overload on it since we had lots of walking to do on a hot and sunny day. Be sure to show up hungry so you can enjoy your big meal and dessert!

We went for the frozen hot chocolate, only. Our timing was perfect because we were the only ones there. We were quickly seated, order was taking, frozen hot chocolate came out. By the time we left, the place was filling up… with groups of 5 and 6 people at a time and what seed to be not many staff! The frozen hot chocolate was… ok. It was all about ‘checking it our to try list’. Definitely not worth going back for.

Went there for dessert, and was NOT disappointed! The frozen hot chocolate is good, and their banana split is amazing as well. There is no metro stop anywhere near this part of Georgetown, so you’ll probably want to take a cab. Don’t worry though, the ride is only about $ 10. There is also a good amount of shopping near by if your in the mood. I don’t know anything about their food, but good for a late night dessert.

Now that I got crowned duchess of this place which to me means I go here way too many times, I should probably write a review. So the first few times I was here, I always order the frozen hot chocolate and never have been disappointed. First time I had the famous frozen hot chocolate was in Vegas and that was pretty good, so I was thoroughly happy to have one in DC. The past few times I’ve been here, I actually ordered food. The food was not the best that Georgetown had to offer but it was passing. Probably not worth the price for food there though. However, the cherry cobbler pie that they had one summer was delish and it seems to be seasonal, because I have not seen it on the menu for awhile. A must order if you do see it. The service however could be better. The last time I was here, there was really one waiter/bartender and I think the manager waiting on tables. Our order was messed up a little and took them forever to get our bills corrected. It might have been a fluke bc I don’t remember it being that slow in the past. Anyways, I would come back, of course, but I’d stick to ordering the frozen hot chocolate, especially on a hot summer day.

I’ve given this place three different chances. THREE. Every experience I’ve ever had here was just a complete mess. Each time I have come to Serendipity, I’ve had the same issues, only more disappointed. My last experience at Serendipity had definitely set me off and came to the decision to never come back. My cousin had come back from Korea and wanted to try this place out. I was pretty hesitant, but I decided to give it another chance. I ordered some pasta while she had ordered a hot dog. We waited nearly thirty minutes. THIRTYMINUTES. There were five ladies at the bar who weren’t even eating and just talking to their server along with one table next to us. I didn’t know who my server was since he was never to be found and had some other employee there help us out. When my cousin and i FINALLY had received our food, it wasn’t even hot. Obviously, our food had been sitting out and our server just didn’t bring it to us. When the food finally had sit at the table, I notice our utensils was dirty and there was hair in my food. I was looking for my server to get a new plate, waited ten minutes before someone noticed me, and of course they apologized. I was slightly annoyed about the hair in my food, but I’ve worked in food service before and things happened with food, so I understood. But, when I got my plate back, the employee tried to convince me it was my hair. The hair in my food appeared to be short and my hair is far from short. At that point, I was EXTREMELY upset. Food still wasn’t too great and I was just overall dissatisfied. The hot dog wasn’t anything special, but the portion was pretty big, which i guess I can give ups for. But, my pasta was bland and the portion seemed less than average. Not worth the price. My cousin and I ordered the frozen hot chocolate. We heard that it was something that must be ordered if anyone were to come here. I never bothered up until this point and thought maybe the dessert would make my experience here somewhat better. I was dead wrong. We had ordered this in the beginning with our main course. After we finished our food, we were hoping to have our dessert come out. The only thing that came out after our main course was the check. I told our server we had ordered the frozen hot chocolate and tried to argue that we didn’t order it. I showed him our check and guess what was on there? The main courses and the frozen hot chocolate. He just forgot. I’m never coming back here and I definitely never recommend it to anyone. Despite how the place looks outside and through the window, what goes on around inside is the complete opposite. My time and money was at waste. ALL. THREE. TIMES.

Worst food ever. Inside is hot and cramped. Servers should be diagnosed with ADD. The only good thing I’ve had were the fries(and the bacon). Frozen Hot Chocolate is like melting crushed chocolate ice. Ice cream is good, only because they don’t make that there. Carrot cake and red velvet cake are dry and hard like a brick. Not surprised it’s finally closed, but I am surprised it took this long.

out of curiosity wanted to try the frozen chocolate., its like the icee slush they have in 7 – 11 except that its choco flavored. Food was mediocre at best. As i was waiting my turn to use the restroom I got to see how the kitchen was preparing the orders, none of them were wearing gloves as they were handling the buns or sprinkling the toppings onto the ice cream. YIKES!!! Pricey and not worth the quality.

This place is ridiculously horrible. The experience was doomed the minute we walked in. They said we couldn’t be seated on a table unless we were going to spend at least $ 10 a person, so we were told to take a seat at the bar. I understand this policy during peak hours when it is busy, but there were litarllly two parties in the restaurant at this time. We came here to try to famous frozen hot chocolate and were beyond disappointed. There was almost no taste and was very icey. Do not waste your money here.

Oh boy this place is just terrible. I came here with a group of friends to get a quick dinner, but we got the complete opposite. We all wanted to try the famous frozen hot chocolate so we decided to have dinner here. The servers could not be any worse. They were rude and completely did not care about the customer. When ever we wanted to order something or get any type of help, we had to hunt down the worker. Our quick dinner turned into a two hour dinner because the service was so slow. I wouldn’t recommend coming here, but of you have to make sure you have plenty of time. The grilled cheese was decent, but I would not order it again. By the time dessert came we were all pretty irritated. The frozen hot chocolate wasn’t all too amazing, One of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. Darn should have listened to Unilocal

Unlike the NY location where you wait for at least 3 hours like what I did, this place had no wait at all on a Friday evening. I only visited the one in NY because it was in one of my fav movies Serendipity(of course). This location was quiet and a few tables filled. One section is for dine-in/dinner and the other section of the place is for desserts. To eat in the desserts section, you have to have a $ 20 minimum between two people. I love my desserts, but we cannot possibly eat twenty dollars worth of sugar! They did tell us that we could sit at the bar which there is no minimum. I appreciate what the hostess told us instead of letting us sit at a table and getting a surprise when the check comes. We weren’t in the mood for dessert but we each had a hot drink. I ordered something like a S’mores hot chocolate, I forget the exact name but I remember there was a delicious toasted marshmallow with it. It was pretty good. I liked it. My bf ordered a coffee, the name escapes me as well but it was increeeeedibly tiny! It was like 3 sips and you’re done! I believe it was $ 6 and so not worth it. Overall, this place was ok. We really should have just shared a frozen hot chocolate, even though that drink itself is just ordinary.

We went in for hot chocolates and we were told that it’s a $ 10.00 minimum per person so we left. First of all, the place is disgusting inside as was the sweaty man that waited our table and told us about their idiotic rule; it’s an especially stupid rule considering the fact that the place had a total of maybe six people inside so it’s not as if there were a lack of tables. Don’t visit this place.

What’s the hype about this place? I just don’t get it. The lights inside are just everywhere and not even in an organized pattern. Service was mediocre, no one looked like they really wanted to be there. We ended up just ordering two burgers and they were so overly salted. I just wanted to pour a glass of water down my throat with every bite I took. The tables were old, the bathroom was not that great. I won’t be going back. There’s nicer dessert and bakery places elsewhere.

This place is overly hyped. Of course, I may have to go back just to taste the frozen hot chocolate this place is known for — it certainly does sound interesting, but, it was freezing cold out the night we were there, so, opted for s’mores hot chocolate and a sundae instead. Well, at least a hot drink helped the ice cream go down! The s’mores hot cocoa left a little to be desired. As much as I love toasted marshmallows, these were almost a little burnt and tasted a bit stale. Unfortunately, the cocoa tasted like Swiss Miss. I was expecting the same real chocolate they supposedly put in their frozen hot chocolate. They should really do better for $ 6. The sundae sounded so good with chocolate cake, vanilla and chocolate ice creams, but, really nothing tasted that rich — especially for the $ 13 price tag. Sweet tooth satisfied, but, the overall experience was disappointing. The atmosphere is kinda weird with angels with eyes that stare at you mixed with antlers of small animals that we could not identify on the walls. Does not make me want to come running back.

What is this place? You hear all these things, and then you walk in, and are so confused. But you keep going, because you think it’ll redeem itself, because of all the hype around it. NO. This place is awful. You’re not greeted in a friendly way, your server will be extremely sloppy and uninformed and the coffee you serve will taste like crap and cost you $ 5. I don’t understand the décor, but let’s talk more about presentation. Nothing looks clean. The plates/cups they serve their food/drinks in are old and worn out. People coming in are either tourist, or locals that immediately get up and leave once they realize that they are in fact, in a tourist trap. They also only have whole milk. No, Other, Kind. Sorry, but isn’t this Georgetown, the booshiest part of my city? Why are you giving me a look because I’m asking for SKIMMILK? No, just don’t do it.

Food: I ordered the ruben sandwich as it was my first time trying it. The corn beef sandwich was okay. We had room and ordered their ice-cream. Interesting since it was a mix between an ice-cream and milk shake. It was okay. Décor: Very 50’s diner vibe. They had this ad in their restaurant, where this one avid eater(Caucasian woman — mmurica) ordered/customized the worlds most expensive hot dog. Overall: Eh, it was okay.

Bartender was pretty cool here when we went. He suggested a nice beer for a hot Summer day… I was pleased with that. The pizza, however, was not all that great. I had pepperoni, sausage and mushroom. though only one side of the pizza had an abundance of mushrooms and the other side was pretty much…“mushroomless”! The sausage had somewhat of a weird taste to it. I can’t quite put my finger on what it tasted«like», but it definitely wasn’t my cup of tea. My husband had a ricotta, spinach and pepperoni pizza. Each slice of pizza had a squirt of ricotta running down the middle that looked like a strip of toothpaste… not very appetizing! Overall… horrible job with even semi-even distribution of all of the toppings. Perhaps we should’ve ordered that chocolate drink that it appeared EVERYONE else was getting! Don’t think we’ll be back. I wasn’t impressed… sorry.

Serendipity 3 was alright… but having visited the famous Serendipity in NYC(in the upper East Side) several years ago, the one in Georgetown paled in comparison. Since I don’t like chocolate, I ordered the frozen strawberry instead(as I had done at the NYC location). This time, my frozen strawberry tasted more frothy than I remembered and wanted it. Service was pretty terrible. I could tell there was something off about our server, especially since he brought out a bill in the amount of $ 70. Between the two of us, we had just ordered two frozen drinks… so something didn’t add up. I brought this to his attention and he apologized and corrected the mistake, but it was still a pretty egregious mistake to make… it was all good, though, and we got our corrected bill. I just wasn’t feeling the vibe of this place. It was trying to be trendy, especially given its location(Georgetown), but it came off as too touristy and trying too hard. It seemed run-down, like a badly managed 50’s diner. And our waiter didn’t care to seat us away from the super loud, obnoxious group right next to us, even though there were other empty, available tables. I also didn’t like the décor in here as much as I’d liked the eclectic, colorful lamp theme of the NYC location. I wouldn’t visit this place again. I think I’ll just wait and visit the one in NYC again.

I just had to come here for my Birthday Dessert. I had heard so many amazing things about this place and then… it just failed to awe me. I got the Fried Oreo Cookie Sundae… it was for lack of better words, tasteless. It comes out and looks huge but that’s only because the whipped cream is piled on endlessly in any nook and craney that looked like it needed filling. I’d never had fried oreos before but I really expected more… they weren’t crunchy like I thought they would be, kind of like a hot french fry left in a box until you got home. Completely overpriced and I left wishing I had gone to Friendly’s for a Sundae instead. So sad. On another note, the pieces of cake(my mom and grandma tried to share a slice of Carrot Cake) are HUGE! And I mean huge… one could easily share their slices between 4 people.
