Great Hookah tonight, came with my fiends to this party and had one of THEBEST hookah! The club looks good and drinks are decent. I would come back again.

Weak spot. There at 11:30 and 20 people total on a Saturday night. Maybe we caught them at the wrong time but for $ 17 a drink I will go to a south beach club.

Get pushed by someone who works there, push back… get thrown out. Sounds legit, never coming back to this thrash.

Based on the reviews I will check this place out, I like to go out to place order wine with friends and listen to music without dealing with young crowd

The level of unprofessionalism that the bouncers and staff showed was incredible. The amount of disrespect showed towards myself and my 2 female friends was something I have never experienced before. The bouncers jacked up the prices to enter based on the color of our skin, letting people in who were A) underdressed, B) ratchet and messy, and C) wearing cheap, Old Navy flip flops, for free. When asked if they knew anyone inside, they also replied«No,» yet when my friends said the same thing they wanted us to pay a large cover. I will never be returning again.

They’re not in it for Repeat Business — this is a Smash & Grab. Make us wait in line for an hour, tell us that the tiny place is «at capacity,» and then offer entrance to anyone who wants to get in at Triple the Cover Price with a half hour till closing? All this occurred as doorman yelled at the patrons as the owner looked on… Go Fuck Yourself — I walked away on Principle.

For those who are 25 looking to hang with your age group and avoid the 21 year old babies, this place is where to go on a Thursday night. Arrive after 11, the line wont be long but inside will be packed. $ 20 to enter $ 20 to valet. Drinks are $ 10-$ 16 so I suggest you pre-game and buy a long beach once you get there and you will be «nice». The atmosphere is semi-ratchett, as far as fun level goes but everyone is there having a good time, no fighting and drama. VIP/Tables by the window becomes a video scene and the air foggy, so stay on the main floor by the DJ booth and shake your bum. Overall, I had fun and it wasn’t overly crowded where I wasn’t able to move around and dance freely. Downside, lights come on at 1:45, which in DC is a sin as clubs close at 3AM. I felt like I was in Baltimore…

I’ve been to Shadowroom a number of times in my life. Each time worse than the last. It is exactly as the name implies, a room that is in shadows. Small. One thing I don’t get about this place is that there is a divider between the main floor and a section for seating towards the back. I mean, it would be extremely helpful if they wouldn’t congregate everyone in the center because it can get extremely uncomfortable. As the other reviews state, music blew and as with almost all DC clubs, its really all the same crowds, style(meaning none) and music. Do yourself a favor and avoid Shadowroom.

I have only been there once. The environment is loud and energetic. It is definitely high priced, which should be expected. There are two main dance floors. One with Hip Hop and the other with Brazilian and Latin type music. I was enjoying myself until after I got my check. I had signed my tab and didn’t really read it since the lighting was so low. When I went to the bathroom, I was curious why my bill was so much. It turns out, they had charged me twice for the same $ 25 jack and coke. After I raised the issue with the bar tender, he spoke with management, they told me there was nothing I could do since I had already signed the tab. I would have given them a good rating, despite my dislike of clubs, but after that experience, I think they have something to learn about good business and customer service. I will not be returning.

The Über DC appreciation happy hour was held here. Maybe I was out of my element or something. But I found this venue seriously meh. Not all that. I did have several gratis cocktails that were pretty good(I was on foot). But the actual club was tiny and poorly laid out. I’d return if I was getting in free.

Can you say blah? I went to Shadow Room on a Thursday night for a charity speed dating event. The event was fine a little disorganized but seeing as how Shadow Room was just the location and not the organizers I can’t blame them for that. I can however blame them for being yet another run of the mill club that doesn’t do anything particularly well unless you consider grossly overcharging for watered down drinks something special. After speed dating the night turned into your average night at a club in DC, a bunch of wannabe models and fake big timers standing around staring at each other. Maybe it’s just me, maybe I’m the crazy one or just not hip to the scene but why in the hell do people come out just to stand there, I mean loosen up, this is a dance club right, then why the hell are you not dancing. There is just nothing special to me about Shadow Room, if you enjoy stunting like you’re somebody and want to impress a room full of other stunters than Shadow Room is for you. If you want to pay 16 dollars for a very tame Long Island Ice Tea than Shadow Room is for you. If you want to see a bartender who thinks she’s cute with big fake boobies than Shadow Room is for you. However if you want to have a good night filled with fun, Shadow Room is not where you want to be.

This is not a bad place. Why all the hate? Room is a decent size, music is good, and drinks are strong. I went here with some friends on a Friday and shared a table with a birthday crowd. Maybe I’m a little biased since we had a table and thus had good service upon entering Shadowroom. Regardless, I still liked the atmosphere. Drinks are on the pricey side, though.

Wow, I suppose I had no idea what to expect but this place was ridiculous. Everything about this place was bad .I almost wish I could give it a negative stars… they charge $ 10 for a shot of Absolute and serve it to you in a plastic shot glass… to me that is just plain old narsty. I suppose it was nice that the bathrooms were clean but they must be subletting them out to CVS due to the amount of crap the attendants had. We saw we drank we left never to set foot in that place again! OIVAY

First the ONLY reason it was 2 stars was because I was with my bf and his bro. Needless to say Shadowroom is a lovely 1 ½ stars. I’m in this«try something new» phase so off we went. Yes, the bouncers definitely are standing by the door as if it’s a hidden gem but seriously, c’mon guys you’re guarding an oversized condo. We’re out to have a good time as we haven’t been out in months – and his bro hasn’t been out in – did he say years? Bouncer –cool. Cover $ 10(me) $ 20(them)? It should’ve been like $ 5 considering A) Kmart décor B) DJ& C) Clientele Drinks are ridiculously expensive – There is a reason why the DJ is in Shadowroom and it’s because these other clubs are like – you need to practice. TRANSITIONING classes are needed for Shadowroom DJ’s. I mean seriously, this dude transitioned sooo badly but only t he people that had rhythm and knew how clubbin’ should be stopped to say WTF? Shadowroom is the practicing arena for DJ’s but the clientele aren’t helping them either– For you little kids at shadowroom(some who I thought were 19) …when you’re dancing to a mix up that has a horrible transition(JayZ to Nelly???) you don’t dance… you walk out – that helps the DJ reasses his line up. The DJ in the smaller room was trying to keep his transitions straight – a couple of mishaps but he was light years away from the other dude. Oh next tip – get your own equipment – don’t use the clubs! I thought that was part of the DJ101 class? Get ready to party with college kids. Oh, here’s something new – We saw this one girl(sadly she wasn’t punched in the face by one of her friends) that was trying to dance with the Q’s. I guess she thought it was some country line dancing and that also tells you a little something about the clientele. She really tried to get into their line hops. Um, there’s a reason why some sororities don’t step – it’s because they’re not good at it – plainly they suck. If it were anyplace else with a varied and multi-cultural crowd – she would’ve got an elbow in the face. Lets take a moment and think what color this girl was… Shadowroom – don’t go. If you want to go to a club – go to a club, not a jukebox for little kids. Celebs come here? Must not be that much of a celeb… Refuse to come here again.

The Shadowroom markets itself to be an exclusive club to the point that it’s laughable. I mean, don’t do that, Shadowroom! Be cool! For example, the bouncers at the door make entrance to the club as difficult as possible, as if they’re guarding a gem of an experience inside and it’s taking them a while to figure out if you’re worthy. Uh, sorry bruh, but once in, I couldn’t even fake an ooh and aah for ya. I mean, where was the eye-candy? So, it really is just a room. Well, there’s a back room, which on this evening was used for a private event. But the space is small. And it got hot. No, not the experience – the temperature. Can we crack a window open once in a while or something? This evening, it was full of the GW kids. They pretty much dominated the dance floor. You decide if this is a bad or good thing. The music they were playing was waaack. I’m sorry, but I can only take a couple minutes of house music before I get insanely bored with the vanilla, cookie-cutter beat. Sure, they sprinkled a little hip hop here and there, but simply not enough. I guess most of the patrons there didn’t have a problem with this, because they were doing their Jersey Shore fist pumps for two hours without getting sick of it. But I did. So, for long spans of time, I faded from my group and towards the bar. I thought it was interesting that they had a couple of pretty girls behind the bar who did nothing but just stand there. I’m not saying I’m surprised, but it was just funny to ask one of the girls for a drink and then they tap one of the real bar tenders and tell them what I requested. Comical, yet baffling. I’m giving Shadowroom two stars because it is highly unlikely that I would return. And I was on a promoter’s guest list so I didn’t have to pay. But I imagine how I would feel if I did have to shell out 20 bones or wait much longer in line.

Somehow, I still end up going to Shadowroom even though I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve actually enjoyed myself. The décor is simple and clean looking with jumbo flat screens all over the place. There are nooks that are slightly sectioned off for bottle service, with a back extended room that is opened up if there is a large crowd. One time I came here with some friends that are really close with the owners and they actually kept this back room open later than the rest of the club. In terms of style, the club isn’t bad. It’s just nothing out of the ordinary. The problem I have is more with the patrons and the staff. When I first started to come here, I would always have trouble at the door until I explained I was with a table, or someone that promotes there. No matter how many times I came here, they would look at me as if they had never seen me before. It took about a year before things became a little easier. I can understand a level of exclusivity, but I was always turned off with the fact that they were always rude about it. I’m pretty much over that now. Additionally, no matter what night I come on the crowd seems to be filled with a plethora of douchey guys and stuck up princesses. The times I’ve been able to let loose and have had fun here have been predominantly due to massive amounts of alcohol(Patron namely) flowing. One cool thing about Shadowroom however is that if you have an iPhone, you can actually place orders via mobile order. I don’t have an iPhone, so I don’t know the details of exactly how this works, but thought this was a pretty cool tech innovation. Otherwise, move it along. You’re not missing too much.

Please, please, PLEASE fire your DJs! OMMMMGGGGGGGGGG… you do realize that you don’t have to play every song from the same decade in the order they were released, right??? JAAAAYYYSUUUUUUUZZZZ. Just stick to top 40 if you can’t handle pressing buttons off your laptop. Get this: there were TWO DJs. Shadowroom also has tvs that they put people’s pictures if you request it mostly like a bday thing. BADIDEA. If I hear ONE more white girl flipping her shiet because her and her BFFs mugs flash across the screen for 2 seconds in a picture from some crappy dive bar in 2004 celebrating the«best years of your life» …i may just lose it. Like Carrie-lose-it. Anytime I see one of them bottles of alcohol with a sparkler going through the crowd, I’m wishing that someone will catch fire… just ONE little spark and there goes that douchebag’s eyebrows. Oooooo. Im dying to see that. The space is nice but tables in the main room are set up wrong, had to constantly turn around and bitch ppl out for spilling their drinks in our section and on us. The tables should be turned so your backs are to a wall as to avoid this. Duh. Of COURSE a fight broke out. Lovely. Watching wanna-be posers flailing around«COMEONDAWG!!! LET’S GO… AIIIEEEEEEEEE!!!» Parking is non-existent. Be prepared to walk in them heels, ladies.

It’s almost 3 in the morning after a Friday night, and I’m trying to figure out what the hell went wrong. I started the evening off at jazz in the sculpture garden with a bottle of wine and pineapple salsa with my friend Anne. She said her friend, K, was going out for drinks and that we should meet him at Foggy Bottom. No problem. We get a $ 7.50 pitcher of Yuengling at Froggy Bottom(the kind of bar where the kitchen closes at 10 and there are initials on the walls of the bathrooms) and wait it out. An awkward conversation with an aspiring LA actor later and we’re on our way to meet K at Shadowroom(I know, where?). I am still dressed for casual Friday at work. We get in free because one of K’s four roommates is celebrating something special, but I feel outskanked. The music is the same top 40 rap/r&b trash that inspired me to stop listening to the radio. The guys(frosted tips, popped collars) outratio the girls(cleavage, heels) and the whole place disgusts me with its pretension and predictability. Two vodka tonics and I’m room-spinningly drunk and ready for my apartment. I hate clubs, and this place is why — VIP table service, bathroom attendants and a cramped dance floor. My head hurts.
