Definitely my go-to truck for lunch if it is around. And I always get the same thing: the fantastic Veggie Platter for $ 9; a great deal. Heaping amounts of two types of lentils(miser wot), collards, beets, and a rotating mix of some other veggies. All served with tons of injera. I am a card-carrying member of the Meat Eating Society, but when Simple is here I always opt for the Veggie Platter, it’s that good.. If you ask for it spicy, they will give you a nice dollop of chili sauce on the side. Highly recommended.

Miser Wet was excellent, and definitely a good portion size for a cheap price! Food takes awhile to prepare, but if you are willing to wait, well worth it.

Hit the spot. I got the Miser Wet, which comes with two sides of your choosing. It was filling and great flavor! Spicy, but not over the top. Love the injera bread. Definitely coming back when it’s in the neighborhood.

Ordered the vegetarian platter. Food wasn’t that great and service was slow. Platter was mostly injera bread.

Simple on Wheels come through big time if you’re craving Ethiopian at lunch and aren’t anywhere near one of the many spots on U Street or Adams Morgan. The vegetarian platter is one best food truck values out there. For $ 9 you get a heaping plate containing injera bread filled with a variety of authentic Ethiopian vegetables including(but not limited to) two different lentil dishes, cabbage, and Swiss chard. The miser wot, or pureed split red lentils that are simmered in berbere sauce. Spicy and full of flavor, and by far my favorite dish that Simple has. Considering the average lunch downtown costs ~$ 10 and often leaves you hungry, Simple on Wheels is a steal! You can eat yourself into a midday food coma by finishing the entire platter, or you can do the prudent thing by sharing it with someone(which is made easier since an extra piece of injera is provided). Fast, cheap, and friendly service. Definitely worth checking out!

I like this truck… authentic food, great customer service(w/a big smile from the cute lady). I got the yebeg wot(stewed lamb) for $ 9, with cabbage and plenty of injera, and I thought it was all well made. Will definitely go back.

New Ethiopian food truck! While I think they used to serve sandwiches, this is a strictly Ethiopian food truck now that aims to serve simple, homemade food. I got the tibs with cabbage(one of three veggies I could have chosen from), and it was a very sizable portion of food for $ 11+tax. I’m no expert on Ethiopian food, but I’ve had enough to tell you that the tibs were super tasty with onions and peppers, although I think the cabbage was a bit overdone. I also wish they would offer more veggie platter combos, or more veggie sides to be included. Will update after I try their lamb stew and veggie combo. Prices range $ 8−11+tax.
