Last time I’ve been to this barber was over 4 yrs ago. At that time I got a decent haircut. Couple days before thanksgiving 2015… I paid a visit to get a shape up & beard trim. When I arrive, I notice two of the barbers who cuts my hair… were no longer there. The older female barber was there. My guts feeling said ‘don’t do it!’ but, I decided to give her an oppty. Big Mistake. I was not please with my shape up & trim. I even show her the photo display at the shop before she did it. I told her that the guys use a razor… she replied…“I don’t use a razor” Now she tells me. On the other hand, she did such awful job with clipper… I can only imagine what the outcome would had been her using a razor… she probably would have cut my adam’s apple. The bottom line… if you are a senior and don’t care how your hair look… you’re there for the cut. You’ll be fine. One last thing, I paid her the $ 20…I didn’t need the DRAMA. I told ‘Smokey’ the owner I was not please. He said the next time I come I should go to him… I don’t think smokey understand… THEREWON’T BE A NEXTTIME.

Well here goes the stereotypical I just got the worst haircut rant on Unilocal.I walked in and just wanted a simple trim #3 on the sides and a about a half inch off the top. I left with a lopsided uneven cut with divots like a fairway at a county golf course. I had been here before, and got a decent cut and beard trim. I would not recommend this place.

It’s not only old-fashioned, but old — the posters are a few decades out of date, and the Redskins’ schedule is from last season. But the price is right, the haircuts good, and the atmosphere relaxed and welcoming(even for white guys like me). The hipsters might be going to the Red and the Black’s «shot and a haircut» nights a block over, but why not come for the real thing? Note that it’s not just Smokey’s Barbershop, but«Barbershop & Oldies,» with a wall of CD’s and tapes.
