Joseph came to my rescue after I bought a Gift Card from around the corner en route to lunch & the lady there was extremely rude. She would not have anything to do with my SB App or Rewards. I understand that some SB especially in hotels & such could be Independently Owned/Operating, however they are still representing the SB Brand. Therefore, on my way home, I decided to stop by this SB to inquire. As soon as I walked in, Joseph informed me that they were closed, & I informed him that was fine, yet I had a question I wanted answer… he then became even friendlier & provided me with some insight. Not only did he apologized for his fellow SB store… which I stated was not necessary… he was generous enough to offer me a free drink anytime I came back. I usually stop here in the in AM when I’m working in this area & even with the morning rush, everyone is kind & doing their best to serve everyone. Not sure how long the left door will be out of service, as there is signage indicating to use the other one, yet hey, at least one door works. :-) In this day age, it seems like customer service is either hitting 100 or striking out, no in between. I appreciate Joseph, his time & generous offer, even for a cup of tea. It goes to show how much pride he take in his employment & service to customers, regardless which location one may visit. Thank you Joseph.

Fairly slow location with uninterested employees. I was disappointed to find out I couldn’t redeem my Birthday Reward at this location, and while I understand why, the employee was totally rude about it and clearly annoyed I would even think of trying to redeem stuff from my loyalty card. Service was slow, and while the location offers plenty of seating, it seems slightly unclean in contrast to the very nice seating area inside the Marriott just a few feet away. I had a Salted Caramel Cake Pop, which was fine, but my Black Iced Tea was bitter and over-steeped. If I hadn’t been exhausted and thirsty from walking around DC, I wouldn’t have bothered with it.

What can you say when it’s a Starbucks. This one gets a slightly lower rating because there is so little seating available. It’s not one that encourages you to relax at all. Tends to be noisy. There are less than 10 spots to sit and a single table outside. Staff is ok but this is a strictly in-out location

Very slow Starbucks!!! I am not sure what the deal was because it wasn’t super busy and they have more than enough people working.

I normally am a big fan of Starbucks but this one did not seem up to par with your average one. The staff was pretty slow and they got my order wrong. They did fix it but my Americans took way longer than it should have and it tasted off. The place was not as clean as most places as well. I like Starbucks just not this one.

This is BYFAR my favorite Starbucks and it’s because of the great people who work there. They are efficient, make the best drinks consistently, and most of all just really nice. Just to clarify, it is not in the JW Marriott. It is on 13th St. across from the Warner Theatre and next to Chef Geoff’s. There is a Starbucks in the JW Marriott but this is not it.

Typically a good Starbucks. Sometimes my drinks have that burnt taste, which is why I try to stick with the Chai Tea Latte. Staff is always nice to me. Crowded around 9 am when I go, but staff keeps the line moving.

Great coffee as you would expect. Quick service although they get busy. I will not eat at this one however — have seen people handle the trash and then just go on preparing food without washing their hands several times. Gross.

Coffee was decent, problem was their menu wasn’t up to date. It still lists caramel ribbon crunch but they don’t have it. Also the girl working on making coffee was very slow and unfriendly. Only two people were working in the middle of the afternoon so the line was decent but people waited nearly 10 minutes for their drinks anyway. Drinks were not praise worthy. Floors were dirty. Won’t go to this Starbucks again.

Love this Starbucks because it is located near my work. The baristas know exactly what and how I like my drinks and at certain times of the day also, but have gotten the strawberry frap in the evenings for my ride home and they are either watery or have a lack of strawberry flavoring.

Good location and multiple stalls in the restrooms. Other than that it’s pretty much the sane as any Starbucks.

This Starbucks stays very busy because it is located on the corner and in a business building so people are constantly coming and going to this place. However, the staff here are very good about keeping up with the fast pace environment and in spite of how fast it is they somehow make you feel like you don’t have to rush and order what you want.

Typical very busy Starbucks in the morning rush. Since its summer the tourists find this spot close to the White House and other attractions, so service is slow in the mornings… BUT excellent staff and are quick to take your orders. Overall convenient location, but always busy.

3.5 Stars. I know. Why even bother to review a Starbucks? Normally I would never take the time to do so because we all know the deal here regarding product. However, I had to stop here for my morning pick-me-up, only because every other local coffee shop I wanted to visit around the area was closed. I guess few people drink coffee on a Sunday morning in the nation’s capitol(yeah…), but those who do apparently all decided to show up at this location right before I did. Anyway, because it was super packed in the little, corner café, I had very low expectations about getting the Pumpkin spice latte I was craving very quickly. But, I was extremely surprised at how quickly the workers were taking, making and pushing out orders, a rarity in most of these franchises. I know other reviewers have not had a similar experience regarding fast and efficient service, but maybe I just got lucky because I was in and out of there in no time. Regardless, kudos.

I’m reviewing Starbucks and, yes, I’m giving them 5 stars. I owe them these 5 stars. They are hard-earned. This is the go-to coffee shop where I work — they are close. This Starbucks is located inside a JW Marriott — they are more expensive. I could walk a little further to another Starbucks that is a little bit less expensive, but they don’t know me there. I don’t think the staff at other coffee shops would recognize me if I went there every day. The staff at the JW Marriott Starbucks all know me by sight and by name. I haven’t placed an order there in over a year. They know my order and it’s ready for me when I get through the line to the register. And they sometimes give me free stuff. They know customer service.

I have become a regular at this Starbucks because my office has me back downtown. Since 9÷12÷11, memorable visits have been 11÷8÷11 and yesterday 12÷22÷11. I’ve seen the ups and downs here. Highs and lows. Sometimes Customs and Border Protection comes in en masse and really increases the line length, wait time, and general crowding near the condiment station. But I’m ok with getting these folks all amped up on caffiene so they can secure the homeland. Sometimes, there is a stinking homeless person or an occupier in here and that is well uncomfortable. In the mornings, you need to do either of two things: add 15 mintues to your commute if you want to stop in for joe; or keep walking because you do not have that kind of time. Its always a crapshoot at this Starbucks. Then, yesterday afternoon, there was the«Mom Brigade» with«little daughters dressed in holiday finery» getting a caffiene fix on their way to the Nutcracker across the street at the Warner Theater. Huh boy. Here we go again. «Kayla do you want a hot chocolate or a chocolate milk… Honey?, Honey tell the nice man what you want.» I couldn’t wait to get out of there with my gingerbread and my decaf soy gingerbread latte.

Solid Starbucks with high quality customer service, probably since its in a JW! Baristas seemed a little friendly than the baristas I usually encounter though service isn’t always super fast so a line can build up during peak coffee hours(i.e. morning rush and then mid afternoon). Lots of small tables to sit and chat with a coworker or read/relax, though it can get a little noisy. It seemed like the prices at this Starbucks were a little more expensive than others in the area, probably due to the fact that it’s attached to the hotel, so if you want to save $ 0.30 walk outside and within a couple of blocks you can find another Starbucks that’s the normal price, though service may not be so friendly.

Good strong coffee! Easy to get to. Very small inside, not a lot of seating. Nice little sanctuary on a very cold and windy day! Close to the J.W. Marriott, National Aquarium, EPA…
