This one solitary star is for the brand, known as subway. Franchise or not, when I walk into a subway I expect the menu food items to taste the same no matter the location. However, the food here doesn’t seem to taste the same, or as it should. Perhaps its all the attitude I get when I patronize them.(P.s. This location is a last resort for me) The folks that work here are unpleasant and seem irritated that you’re patronizing them. I observed a youth in line with a good personality order her food and the employees didn’t respond or accommodate how she wanted her sandwich prepared. Like, do we really have to argue about how to prepare a sandwich? Hot diggity dog! I am in walking distance to this location, but choose to go elsewhere — Anacostia, Capitol Hill or Oxon Hill is better than this location. —bottom line dine her at your own risk. —-

The employees DONOT want to be here. Eye rolls and apathy are all they’re serving. They got the order wrong for the two people in front of me, took forever, and then got my order wrong. Then one employee started eating hash browns behind the counter. As someone who has worked many years in fast food, the employees’ behaviors were embarrassing for subway. Avoid this place. They don’t want you here anyways.

I just never would have imagined being irriated at a sub shop. I just can’t believe this. I was on my way to a volunteer site. I saw the subway in route. I typically choose subway because I can see my food being made and I can get a healthier option than stopping into fast food establishments. Well I originally ordered a ham & turkey double meat foot long. However there were speckles of orange on the ham & the sandwich maker couldn’t explain what it was. So I asked to him to remove the ham and just give me turkey. He pulled the meat up & slammed it back into the meat container. The customer behind me was irritated by that & left. I thought it was questionable too, but proceeded down the line for toppings. The guy on the register jumped in to help so I told him everything I wanted and asked him to hold the mayo & mustard. Instead I preferred the to go packets. He snapped that he had neither and I was like for real? And my «for real» was more for the way that he was speaking to me [derogatory tone]. I just grabbed my purse and left the bottled water, told him forget it, and proceeded out of the door. THEN he yells back for me several times and was like ok… I can put it in a to go container. I was now running late and didn’t want to have to stop again. I attempted to make it an educational opportunity and informed him that he should have offered that instead of snapping the first time. And so he took the conversation up an unnecessary notch and told me that the sandwich was money [after taking my money]. I informed him that I didn’t have to buy that sandwich if I didn’t want to and if he was more considerate to his customers that wouldn’t be an issue. He really kept talking. I was pissed because I felt he was trying to make a point in front of customers. Another customer alerted me to the fact that it was because of the location. OMG… it was in a majority black neighborhood and I didn’t have my suit on because I was working a volunteer event that day. But the thought that in 2012 people are choosing to put up with poor customer service and nasty attitudes just because is despicable. The experience today was wrong on so many levels. I will not be back.
