The Brookland Inn

this is a very peculiar place. Its a B&B converted from an old apartment building. the room is nice enough, clean, comfortable. the kitchen was stocked nicely. however, the neighborhood is a bit dicey, it’s quite a walk to the closest Metro station, and the street traffic noise was Awful, especially ambulances on the way to the local hospital… all night long!

What a gem in the world of big city hospitality. The rooms were clean. The bath and kitchen were new. Two blocks from the Red Line and a fabulous restaurant right downstairs — we could not have asked for a better experience.

We stayed her thinking it was a B&B, basically it looks like some grandmother’s apartment. It was suitable since we wanted something cheap, and DC hotels are ridiculous at any time of the year.
Brookland is quite a bit of distance from downtown, but it is convenient to the metro, walking distance (though I would drive, we went with just girls and I thought that the neighborhood could be a bit dicey)
The apartment had a living room, flat screen TV, the small kitchenette was well stocked with fruit and continental breakfast items.
The bedroom was decorated as my grandmother would have but was lean as it could be.
For the price, I guess you cannot beat it, but, it could be a bit more modern…

Great place to stay if you have a reason to be in Brookland. Though it is a short walk from the red line if you wanted to get downtown.
Our 2 bedroom one bath with a kitchenette was large and well furnished. Interesting décor hung from the walls. The kitchenette was stocked daily with fruit, oatmeal, muffins and beverages, all of which are included with your stay.
There’s also a great little spot to grab a bite to eat below called The Brookland Café.
I would recommend requesting a room that is not above the café however as it gets a little loud at night and could interfere with sleep.

We moved to DC and needed a place to stay until we could move into our new house. It was my wife and I and we were a little flexible on dates but I was working in Maryland and she would be on Capital Hill. This place worked out great.
They actually took an apartment building and converted it to a B&B. So you have your own furnished one bedroom place where someone comes in everyday to make your bed, clean towels and restock the mini fridge with juice, yogurt, muffins and restock the coffee and oatmeal. They do have parking in the lot next door.
Making my trip out to the freeway isn’t bad since I’m reverse commuting to MD. The metro station is really just two blocks away. There are a number of little carryout places and a great restaurant in the building itself.
The only reason I did not give them five stars is that we stayed on the top floor and wireless internet was inconsistent there. I have talked to them and they said they are working on it. If it gets better I’ll post an update. Regardless I’m sure that staying on the second floor you would be fine.
