I moved to DC from Chicago recently and was a bit nervous about finding the right barbershop. For me it was most important that the barbers could do a good fade with a crispy line up. Young Tay«The Barber» delivers!

Whenever I’m in DC I hit up The Dashery for a fresh cut. Loc usually cuts my hair. He’s a top notch barber and he’s very knowledgeable about hair care.

I wanted to give this place a great review, I really did. I even sat on this haircut for 3 days hoping my feelings would change, but nah. It’s awful. For context, I’m a woman(so obviously not the Dashery’s target demographic). I recently cut my long curls with undercut into the perfect tapered TWA and wear it in a really cute wash-n-go curly stlye. I had let my undercut grow out in anticipation of the big chop, so this was the first time I was visiting a barber shop to get the bottom of my TWA faded. Being newish to DC, I turned to Unilocal to find the best shop in the area. This shop is close to my new home and had overwhelmingly positive reviews, so I decided to give it a try. I walked up to the Dashery and was greeted by a group of guys sitting out on the front patio. One of them, who later introduced himself as Bey, asked if I needed a cut and volunteered to take care of me. The shop was clean and oddly quiet for for a barber shop just before the weekend. Before Bey got started, we chatted about what I needed done, just the bottom of my hair faded and shaped up; the rest was fine as is. He picked the curls towards the bottom of my hair out and got to cutting. So far so good. Once the fade was done, he said he was going to shape me up and picked my hair out a little bit higher. At this point, my back was to the mirror, so I wasn’t able to see what was happening. Before I knew it, Bey had cut a significant amount of hair off the side of my already tightly cropped twa. I stopped him before he could take his clippers across the top. Needless to say, this wasn’t what I asked for, and for good reason. As any natural, curly girl will tell you, you never cut curly hair straight(or picked out). Why? Because, of course, the shape of the haircut changes entirely once the hair reverts back to curly. When he was finished, I thought the fade looked great, but feared that the additional unsolicited cut to the rest of my hair was a tab bit short. I was apprehensive, but remained optimistic… Until I got home and wet my hair again(remember, he had picked my curls out). Now, I’m pretty devastated. After 3 days, it’s apparent that my perfectly shaped TWA is completely ruined(it’s more like a lopsided high-top fade now), and all because of a well-meaning, but misguided attempt to do something that I never asked for. So the lesson here, ladies, is regardless of the many glowing reviews of masterful barber skills you read, don’t assume your new barber knows how to cut your hair, insist on facing the mirror, and pay attention. Otherwise you might end up like me, sad and bitter with a f*cked up haircut for the next month+.

Looking for a barbers that take serious pride in their work and make sure you walk out looking your best every time? This is it. I am happy to say I finally found the best barbershop for me, if not in DC. I have been hopping from barber to barber since I moved here about a year ago. None being bad, just not on point for what I was looking for, especially not for the cost. Then I happened to try out TONY at The Dashery… GAMECHANGER. Not only did Tony correct mistakes of previous barbers, he helped me get the signature cut I have been looking for. If you’re looking for a top notch barber that knows his stuff(and can answer virtually any question you have), GOTOTONY! He’s the best. Not to mention his work is affordable, and more than worth every penny. Don’t stay unimpressed with your current barber– go to the Dashery and get in Tony’s chair.

The master barber Tone really knows what he’s doing. I came in expecting to get a haircut and he recommended I wait and provided a reason. I’ve been to many different barbershops in Maryland and they all suck, because everyone’s out for just money. But he took the time to show me the mistakes of other barbers and listened to my horror stories. Overall I am pleased with the experience and am looking forward to getting my hair cut by someone who genuinely cares for his clients.

I have been coming here for the past year and Tony has not failed a haircut yet. He takes care of me and my son every time and takes his time like he is sculpting an sculpture. I would recommend Tony to any who asked where I get my haircuts from.

Jarred is not only a world class barber he is a Master of business administration, mixed martial artist, politician, popular culture genius, arts savvy, and spiritual adviser. You may go into the Dashery and overhear a conversation on collateralized mortgage obligation debt swaps to black lives matter to an article recently published in Science, the medical journal. One of the last of a dying breed of renaissance men redefining the experience of the African American Barber Shop. It’s one of the hottest seats in the city for athletes, politicians, local and national celebrities, businessmen, and Howard University students and professors. Call Jarred and schedule an appointment or stop by, you will not be disappointed!

The Dashery is excellent, friendly and professional. Just got my hair cut by Tony, that man is a hair wizard that turned a previously bad and uneven haircut I got at another DC barber into the sharpest cut I’ve ever had. He Clearly knows what he’s doing and takes pride in his work. Spent well over an hour doing my hair to make sure I left looking great and that everything was perfect. would absolutely recommend the Dashery and Tony to anyone wanting an expert cut at a really good price. Keep it up!

Unfortunately I will not be coming back to the Dashery anytime soon. When I got my cut here my lines were sharp… so sharp in fact that I had cuts along my forehead, beard and upper lip from the line up. That’s pretty much all that needs to be said.

I just moved to DC a few months ago and one of the first things I had to do was find a good barber. I went to countless of shops, which were ok, but didn’t have that«wow» factor once you got out the chair. Then I found the Dashery. I saw it had great reviews so I decided to give it a try. A guy name Tony gave me a cut, low fade with a shape up on the top. He walked me through each step of the way to make sure the cut was precisely what I wanted. Once it was finished I knew this was one of the best barbers in DC. Fade blend was perfect and the lineup was sensational. If you want a great cut with a great barbershop atmosphere go to the Dashery and ask for Tony. Trust me you won’t regret it.

This place is a great old school barbershop, that is run by young talented barbers with a keen sense of customer service. All of the barbers are friendly down to earth and can cut well. They take appointments via the website or by phone. And they also accept payment by credit card. Loc the Barber or Tony did an exemplary job listening and understanding my requirements for a perfect cut. He even worked the after the snow storm! I recommend him to all my friends and family alike.

My excitement grew after reading the glowing reviews for this spot. I’d gone two months without a haircut due to a bad cut by another barber. Upon arriving around 445pm on a Saturday afternoon, I was greeted by Tony who was finishing up with a patron in his chair. I got in his chair at 530pm, and was told I’d be out in 30min which was great because my partner was waiting to go get a haircut also. Two hours later… I get a bowl cut with my edges jacked up-uneven on both sides. And a nearly skinned-head in the back. I asked(showed him a picture that he acknowledged was enough)…after all it was a simple fade all the way around, with balding around the temple area. During the time in the chair, I was forced to listen to Tony, «Black», and another barber discuss whether or not it’s ok to have sec with a woman if you know she’s married. The worst part about the conversation was how many times they used the word«nigga»…and an abundance of profanity. Maybe because I’m black, they thought it was ok. It wasn’t. I was appalled at their blatant disregard for professionalism. I was livid, but still paid and tipped. I’ll never return, and if you’re smart, you’ll not go see Tony.

I’ve found my new barbershop. Barbers are friendly, the shop is welcoming, and most importantly, Tony made sure I walked out looking good. He listened to what I was looking for and offered helpful guidance. The kind of perfectionist you want as a barber, he took his time, telling me he doesn’t let customers leave the chair until his eye is satisfied. I’ll be back.

Its been about 6 years since I last went to the barber. I heard about the Dashery from friends via social media and decided to check it out. I called ahead and got a time slot pretty quickly. The minute I got in I felt right at home, the atmosphere was very warm and cozy, the barbers are all friendly and personable. I went to Loc the barber or Tony, I was not sure what hair cut to get but Loc took care of me. He gave me tips and pointers on hair care in general. He took his time and ensured my hair was cut perfectly and outlined sharply, he is a master at using the blade which gives the sharpest edge to your hair line. I have been going back to Loc every 2 weeks since then. He is very attentive and takes pride in his work like no other barber I have ever been to. Do yourself a favor and check out the Dashery of great barbers who put the craft back in hair cutting, ask for Loc the barber tell him Ace sent ya, he’ll take good care of you. I’m never going anywhere else!

I came in to get a haircut for a wedding but had really no idea what I wanted. Tony was very patient and did a great job accommodating me when I wanted to make adjustments to my hair as he was cutting it.

I went and checked out The Dashery a couple of weeks ago in search of a new barber. I was greeted at the door by Jarrod and he had his man Tony take care of me. Tony did an excellent job of listening and understanding what kind of cut I was looking for. It was definitely a great experience and I will be going back.

This was one of the greatest if not THE greatest haircut I have ever received. After my last barber in NYC messed mine up, Tony gave me the sickest fade I have ever had. He would not stop until my hair was absolutely perfect, no matter how much time it took. He used precision and always made sure I liked what I was getting. When I told him I wanted my sides a bit shorter, he did not hesitate to do exactly what I asked. I got the classic undercut with a fade on both sides, and my hair looks better than it ever has before. If that wasn’t enough, Lee and Tony drove my friend and I down to Union station in 10 minutes, just in time for our train back to New York. It was crazy. These two guys are some of the realest people I know. GETYOURCUTHEREORYOU’REDOINGITWRONG!
