The Garfield Condominium

We lived in the Garfield for five years, and, honestly, it’s one of DC’s best kept secrets. The staff is unbelievably nice, kind, and warm — you won’t get in or out of the front door without someone genuinely wishing you a nice day. And the kindness spills over to many of the building’s inhabitants who chat in the elevator or in the laundry room. The new manager (Crystal) is organized, dedicated, and efficient. Ever since she took over, the building has enjoyed a series of upgrades that have made it a more pleasant place to live — new carpeting, new lighting, a new roof deck, a new exercise room, washing machines that accept credit cards. It’s close enough to the metro (about 15 minutes door to door), and the L1/​L2 bus stops right in front of the building, so it’s easy to get downtown. And the area around the building has only become more vibrant in the last five years — there are now a handful of good restaurants (see Macon), two grocery stores in walking distance, a great movie theater and an indie bookstore steps away.

The Garfield Condominiums is a great place to live. You can walk everywhere including amenities, restaurants, grocery stores, and public transportation (Friendship Heights Metro, car2go, and metro buses). There are many activities for kids near by including parks, recreation centers, the neighborhood library and the largest indoor swimming pool in DC: the Wilson Pool.
The building community is varied and encompasses all age ranges. The staff are wonderful and many have lived and worked in the building for many years. There are many recent upgrades to the building as well and maintenance is quick and efficient.
If you want shopping, Mazza Galerie and Chevy Chase Pavilion are near by.
If you are interested in quality of life, in an urban environment, yet in a quiet, green and tranquil area, Chevy Chase DC is it.

Great area that’s nice and quiet. Close enough walk to the Metro (~15 minutes from door to platform). On Connecticut Ave which is the best way out of DC from here. Great stuff. The people who work here are amazing. Very nice and will help you out a lot. Front door man, small roofdeck, and a garage are all a part of it too. Considering the fees are relatively small. Again, wonderful place to live.
