Incredibly fresh food with incredible flavors. Shop and owner are modest, and the environment isn’t the most inviting, but the food is delicious. Recommend the lamb kabob platter.

The definition of hole in the wall. You’d walk right past this place and not even considering going in if you didn’t know better. But since I’m Unilocal-savvy, I wanted to check this place out. Went around 7pm and was the only one on there. The guy working there was super nice and helped me out when figuring out what to order. I went with a shawarma platter and a side of hummus and it’s no joke, the portions are really really generous. Just check out the photos from other Unilocalers. This place does not disappoint. Living in Michigan, I think I’m spoiled with the style of shawarma and quality of mediterranean food we get around here. So I will say this shawarma is a bit different(they use a lot of dark meat) but it was still awesome.

I love this place. I have been a customer for several years. Wonderful hole in the wall spot. I always get the combination platter(they have a different vegetable side every day) and sit by the window at the side entrance. Very relaxing experience, very quiet and peaceful spot. The staff are super friendly too.

You gotta try their Chicken Shawarma Plate. Gigantic portions and friendly service. They also stay open late, very underrated joint for reasonably priced food.

I hate giving a review like this but this casual eatery is empty for a reason. Despite friendly staff, the meat was dry and the spices were imbalanced in the vegetables — served as part of a «plate» dish. The food just did not taste fresh. I’d like to go back on another night to see if this was just a bad night.

Stopped here to grab something quick before a Black Cat show. Got the lamb/beef Shwarma sandwich, which was huge, delicious, and very reasonably priced. They asked if I wanted it made spicy, which I appreciated. I could only eat half but they packed up the other half so well that I was able to put it in my purse and eat it after the show a few hours later. Still delicious! Service was quick and staff was friendly. Will definitely be back to try more things!

I like that the Mediterranean Spot is friendly, and the food tastes so fresh! The woman I met behind the counter is from Istanbul, and said she makes the baklava herself! There are generous portions and very attentive servers. The one thing I could have done without was the screaming daughter of the owner. She must be at least 7, and yet she screamed like an infant and played a Nintendo at max volume. We didn’t really mind at the time, but I wouldn’t bring a date here because of it. Overall, a very cute little spot with personality and friendly staff! Food is great, albeit a little pricey.

Very good food and friendly staff. You can’t go wrong with any of the shawarma platters they are delicious and bountiful. Usually enough for at least two meals for me. This place is also the closest dupe I can find to chicken and rice carts in NYC. Yum! They lose a star only because they completely melt down if you want to modify an order. Whenever I try to order the tilapia platter with fries instead of the usual sides they look like they LITERALLY want to cry(Fries only come with the sandwich!). I usually have to explain myself once or twice again and say that I would be happy to pay extra for the fries until they eventually come around and everybody lives.

I came to The Mediterranean Spot today looking for a quick bite near my place of work. At 12:15pm, there were already quite a few patrons inside enjoying their meal. At the counter, I was greeted by a sweet man with a warm smile. He took my order, and told me to pay after my meal, wishing me to enjoy the food instead of completing the transaction. Loving it already. Since DC has finally thawed, I chose to sit outdoors in their patio section to enjoy my Mediterranean fare. I ordered the Falafel Plate, and I’m extremely pleased with my order! The portion is quite large, and the food is delicious! The falafel is light yet still super crispy, and the creamy tahini beautifully compliments the accompanying rice and salad. The food is delicious, the staff is warm and friendly, the location is a bit removed from 14th Street and U Street corridors so it’s not as busy during the lunch rush. I will for sure be back soon!

It was nearly 80 degrees outside around lunchtime and in the Mediterranean Spot, it was hotter. Boy, it was warm here, so much so that I had to take my order to go and understood why a couple was eating outside under the umbrellas with a cool breeze and loud traffic noise. I ordered the gyro plate and lamb/beef shawarma plate. Both plates came with rice and salad and a side order of vegetables. I chose spinach for one and mixed vegetables(carrots, potatoes) for the other. Both plates also came with pita. Wow, the food smelled and tasted great. I sampled a little bit of both when I got home and will take some for lunch tomorrow and have some for dinner tonight. Service here is so genuinely nice and friendly and polite. Both the man and woman working today were soft spoken and considerate. For example, the guy asked me whether I wanted hot sauce and then was thoughtful enough to ask whether I wanted it on the side. He packed it away nice and securely so it didn’t spill on the trip home. Both he and the woman smiled at me and looked me in the eye and repeated my order so they understood it and I could confirm it. That makes the difference in making sure you are walking away with the right stuff. On top of that, there is a lot of food here or what seems like a lot of food. My take out was substantial enough in weight to make an impression but more importantly, the quality is terrific. Usually, the condiments or the vegetables or something is a throw away, but all the stuff on my platters were great, from the stewed vegetables to the tzatziki sauce to the hummus to the rice to the meat, everything was delicious. I asked the guy about delivery and he gave me an embarrassed smile and said, «Not yet.» Other random things: they have whole cakes and slices of cakes and baklava for sale. There are bottled beverages, lots of cameras, an ATM that wasn’t working, and they are open late. They also make pizzas, salads, and wraps. I feel like for the price of my two platters(just north of $ 21), I got delicious, balanced, large portions of food.

Great things to say! The food was great, the prices were good, and the staff was incredibly friendly. The chef(owner?) chatted with me about their menu and after I ordered said I could sit down, adding that I could just pay whenever I was ready(it’s a counter ordering restaurant). The space is great and they have free wifi. Stay as long as you’d like!

Heck yeah! Totally awesome deal on deliciousness! Only one visit so far, but my boyfriend and I shared the large appetizer platter for lunch and were not disappointed. The falafel has a robust/sorta spicy flavor with a nice little crunch on the outside. The dolmas were served warm, which is apparently a Lebanese thing(I prefer them served cold but they were still yummy). I don’t usually like baba ganoush, but this one was the best I’ve ever tasted, really – nice texture and not too eggplant-y. Creamy hummus and plentiful helping of salad. We basically stuffed all this inside the pita to make little Mediterranean sammiches for ourselves. All for just $ 10! Friendly service and a quaint interior with pictures of local jazz icons on the walls(appropriate for its U-Street location). Definitely a worthy value lunch!

Good late night food. We went there at 1:30 am and it was open. It says here they are open till 2am but they told us they sometimes close early so my suggestion go before 1:30. 5 stars for quantity/price of food 3 stars for taste 5 stars for fresh food. This guy cooked the falafal from scratch in front of me at 1:30 am, which was really impressive because most of the places just uses frozen ones.

Finally! A real schawarma spot in DC! I’ve been looking all over for a good schawarma spot, but the ones I have come across have given almost nothing for portion size and the meat has been dry. I live in Adam’s Morgan, and the Schawarma spot was a big let down, so is the replacement Lebanese One on One. Lebanese One on One was the worst, they give almost nothing for portions and when I asked for a side of garlic, they filled it 1/8th, just a little squirt into those sauce cups. I’m like seriously? That cheap you cannot even give half of a cup. The person behind the counter was like«It’s really strong! If you need more, let me know.» I’m Asian, we can handle our garlic! So that little piece of garlic sauce was gone in two bites. I go back, and she fills it back up by another eighth of the cup. *Sigh* at that point I just give up, and ate my meal, which barely had any meat, without sauce. In comes Mediterranean spot, further than the Schawarma places near me, but it’s definitely worth the walk. If you know me, I love variety. The Combo Schawarma gives just that, the chicken, lamb/beef mix schawarma, with one side of your choice(I chose spinach), salad, hummus, and pita, and they give a heaping amount! The meat was juicy and freshly cut off the spit. They gave so much that I couldn’t even finish it! I always finish my schawarma meals too, that’s just a testament of how generous they are. Lebanese One on One gives probably a third of the portion amount, with barely any sides. The service is also great as well, the guy behind the counter is very nice and accommodating, which is uncharacteristic of many schawarma places. Five stars all around, I’ll be back!

Five star to the chicken shwarma. This shop is really small and humble looking but the owners are friendly and the visit was worth because of the yummy chicken shwarma. I probably will go back again.
