Excellent flavors and attentive, efficient service! A two minute walk from the Washington Hilton. We enjoyed the chicken satay and spring roll appetizers, cashew chicken, and my absolute favorite, num tok, was deliciously perfect!

Ordered the chicken pad thai– tasted okay but I’ve definitely had much better. My napkin was stained and there were 2 hairs in my food. Unlikely to return.

pad thai and thai coffee were delicious, waitress was not so friendly. maybe she had a bad day, but i didn’t order a side of attitude with my dinner. i would go back if i had a different waitress. the regent also has outdoor seating, which is perfect in the summertime.

Not that good, although the carrot nests are delicious and the iced coffee was served beautifully, no one in my party really dug their meal.

Felt the Thai coming on, so did my Unilocal research and drove to DC to the Regent. The welcome reception was lukewarm at best. We proceeded to order the typical dishes. Tomyungkun soup was served lukewarm and didn’t have the acidic slap on the tongue. The padthai was vinegary and lacked any sweetness. However their padseeyoo and their vegetable soup was good. The interior was nice and clean.

So far, this is the best Thai food lunch spot for me in DuPont compared with Thaiphoon, Banana Leaves, etc. Loves: + $ 10 for lunch specials including green or red curry, pad thai, pad see ew, pad grapow(chx basil), etc. + Big, modern & clean space + Near my work The only downside is I find the service can be a bit slow ish, but as long as you have no work calls pending immediately after you are set! I don’t know what the dinner vibe is like but I would certainly come here again for lunch.

I believed the food here was great without being recognized. I asked for my food hot, and it did in fact turn out that way. When I did not complete it, the server was worried that it might in fact be overly hot. My duck curry was really fairly delicious, and popular enough for my taste. I believed the service and décor here were fitting of the area. I’d likely come back here some time.

Extremely edible basic Thai/Chinese/Asian food. Absolutely nothing special about it. We walked .9 miles here and it was .9 miles too long. If they deliver I would have it delivered in a crunch. Otherwise… meh.

I’ve done the rounds of Thai places in DuPont/Adams Morgan/Columbia Heights, and Regent is the best. And… they deliver! The food is always good(my top dishes: drunken noodle, green curry, pad thai, fried rice, pad see ew, fresh vegetarian rolls) and ordering delivery is efficient and FAST. Once — the food arrived so hot I couldn’t eat it right away. Enough said.

I ordered spring rolls, vegetarian green curry, and vegetarian pad thai for delivery to my apartment just a couple blocks away. I made my order through phone call — the man on the other end was very nice. He said it would take about 45 minutes, but the food came in about 20! I was very pleased, so I tipped well. The food was also delicious and because I don’t eat much, lasted me quite a few meals. I just don’t know how often I’ll order from them or go there because my total came out to over $ 40 for 3 things, but it’s DC… So. Can’t complain I suppose. I should check if their lunch prices are cheaper, but I doubt it.

After looking for Thai places this seemed the most promising. The Regent is definitely trying to upscale the ambiance, dark, lots of wooden Buddha and a nice bar area. We got a chicken dumpling appetizer, it was a lot like a dull shumai, it was nothing special, like it came out of a bag. The masaman curry I got as an entrée though, was a lot better. A little heat, the right amount of coconut milk and a lot of chicken. They served it in an oddly angled bowl but there was a good amount of curry to rice. Service was great, the staff here were really attentive and friendly. I don’t think I had to wait for anything there and even though the weather was bad out there wasn’t a rush or anything for us to leave.

We went there on a Friday evening at around 9. There were not many people at the time. The dining room was elegantly decorated and lighted. We had Green curry veggie, pad Thai, tum yum soup, and Thai iced tea. I especially loved the Thai iced tea, it was so good! The green curry was also pretty good but could be spicier. The tum yum soup was a little bit too mild, wish there had been more ingredients in there.

Found this place on a quest for Thai food around DuPont Circle. Unassuming on the outside but nicely appointed interiors. So-so rating is because I was a disappointed by the food. We ordered the tom yum soup which was honestly quite bad, with almost an «off» flavor about it. We didn’t even finish the soup shared between 4 people. My entrée was the chicken green curry which was not bad. We really enjoyed the mango sticky rice dessert at the end but it’s pretty hard to mess that up. Service was friendly but sometimes a bit slow and waters often went unfilled. All in all, a mediocre option(but an option nonetheless) for Thai food in the city.

LOVE their lunch specials. The main dish comes with a sweet and sour soup and an egg roll. So neatly served in adorable plates. So affordable and delicious too! THey range from $ 10 — 13 depending on your protein(chicken /beef /seafood /shrimp /etc.). But also beware, their food tend to be salty — so if you like your food not too salty, just simply ask for it to be made less salty.

It’s a beautiful place, but the foods were horrible. They were very salty and had no flavor. I asked to make the food less salty for couple times, however I don’t think they understood. I ended up just pouring hot water on my foods, so at least I could eat.

The Regent has an elegant dining room decorated with Thai wood wall carvings and sculptures of Buddhas. The setting is calm, soothing and dark wood, like the interior of historic Thai architecture dwellings. Unfortunately, the kitchen didn’t convey the same thoughtful arrangement in their plate preparation. My drunken noodles, ordered as a result of scanning numerous Unilocal reviews, was a sloppy affair with fairly decent wide noodles, yet insufficiently doctored up with flourishes— scallions, peppercorns, red bell pepper, crunchy greens. The slapdash offering was carelessly topped with about five average shrimp. The flavor and spice hit their mark, but the preparation lacked. My dining companion had a more happy reaction to his choice, a ginger curry with tofu and veggies. He has eaten here numerous times and likes his food each time to the extent that he recommended we meet here. Since we have vastly different culinary backgrounds(he’s from Philadelphia, I’m from India), you might conjecture about the differences in our reaction to the kitchen based on our respective taste backgrounds. The menu(in a hand-crafted, wooden case) offers a series of cocktails – I had the subtly done mango martini – and a decent wine list. The service was non-intrusive but pleasant. My conjecture is that given the Adams Morgan address with its bank of local residents who don’t leave the area seeking other options(not only because the street is lively but because leaving implies the impossible task of getting a parking spot upon return), the restaurant can ride on its Thai ethnic laurels without differentiating its kitchen production from other competition. In other words, this is a gentrified and standard Thai restaurant. Not bad at all. Yet, I wouldn’t make this a destination spot for a visit to Adam’s Morgan. For Thai cuisine, I personally would go for the superlative Thai offerings in the Virginia ‘burbs(Rabieng Thai) or in Maryland’s Wheaton neighborhood(Nava Thai).

Delivery order 1 order chicken pad Thai 1 order shrimp pad Thai extra shrimp 1 order pork drunken noodle $ 49.52(w/o tip) All three dishes were bland and dry. Pork in the drunken noodle was so dry and chewy everyone ate around it. Phone and delivery service people were friendly. Cost value ratio of this place is a 1 star. Will not order again.

I needed a place for dinner during my visit to DC. While trying to figure out what kind of food I wanted I saw this place was close to my hotel, so I decided to give it a chance. I loved the restaurant! the place was not full when I got there, so I was quickly greeted and given a table. I order the pad thai(my go to dish when I don’t know much of the menu at thai restaurants) and it was delicious! I do like my thai food a little spicy, so I had to request some hot chili sauce. the peanuts were chopped in very small pieces, which was not really of my liking, but didn’t mind it much. I loved the little strings of carrots used for decoration on the side(which I ate, because I eat everything). I also ordered a glass of red wine(sangiovese) and it was also very good! The service was great and attentive but not too intrusive. Will definitely go back there again next time I am in DC.

Great décor Service was not very good Food was not very good, the chicken was chewy and my duck was chewy, it kind of grossed me out eating chewy meat. The spring was pretty good but really how can you mess those up. We did have a late lunch but the food and service should be good no matter what time of day. It felt like a waste of money because it wasn’t inexpensive. Not impressed and a bit disappointed because the reviews are pretty good.

Really good Thai food here. I got the drunken noodles with seafood which were delicious! Only complaint was the service — SOOO slow. Took about an hour for our entrees to come out and one of the people in our party needed to leave so had to take their meal to go which sucked. Even to get the bill it was a process. Both indoor and outdoor seating — we chose indoor which was nice.

Regent Thai is one of the best options for Thai in DC located in the Dupont Circle/Adam’s Morgan/U Street intersecting area. Parking is difficult. They will do carry out orders, which is nice. The ambiance is classier than most Thai places and is suitable for a date night. Their duck dishes are quite outstanding. Prices are reasonable. Overall, very solid all around.

Mehhhh… It’s okay. Definitely not the best thai place in Washington, DC. They do have a quick pick up turn around. The issue is I don’t think their actual thai food is the best. The noodles just aren’t the same. I do have to give them credit in that the tofu in their chicken pad thai(or any pad thai for that matter) is the best tofu I’ve ever had. I typically don’t care for tofu, but this made me look for tofu in my grocery store and for recipes online.

I was so surprised that on a Saturday night so many restaurants in Dupont and Adam’s Morgan were packed, but The Regent was fairly empty. That made me a little weary-but instead it was a wonderful surprise! We got an amazing meal and had most of the restaurant to ourselves. The food was delicious and quite spicy-so beware if you aren’t into that thing! The papaya salad is good but I could hardly eat it because of the spice level. The chicken pad thai was delicious-it comes out looking a little bland in color and you wonder what it will taste like and then you are all OMG so good!!! Really the best pad thai in DC. Enjoy!

The Regent is a cozy Thai restaurant in DuPont Circle. I absolutely loved the decorations, even though when we first walked in there was the slightest smell of must(typical of older buildings). The service was absolutely great and the food was well priced for the quality and portions that we received. What we ordered: *2 orders of Curry Puffs– these were two fried balls of curried potatoes and chicken, absolutely delicious ! *Pork fried rice– pretty self explanatory, and also yummy! *Pineapple fried rice– This was your typical shrimp fried rice with the addition of pineapple, and served in half a pineapple shell(this was one of my favorites)! *Shrimp pad Thai– like your typical pad Thai, served in an edible wonton bowl. *Fried Duck in Chili sauce– For my first introduction to duck, this was pretty good! The sauce was very flavorful and it came with a nice sized side portion of rice. **I posted pictures of all these dishes**

I wasn’t the biggest fan of Regent Thai. DC is full of great Thai places and unfortunately Regent just doesn’t measure up. The pad thai beef dish I ordered was tasteless — there was barely any sauce on it and the noodles felt dry and empty and way too sweet. They also gave me barely any meat. It was mostly tofu… if I had wanted tofu pad thai, I would have ordered that instead. Getting 3 pieces of beef was disappointing. I ordered an additional order of pad thai to go as well and it wasn’t much better. The noodles were still too dry and way too sweet. My friend seemed to enjoy her dish, so others may very well have different experiences than I did. I just wasn’t a huge fan. Disappointing because this place had been on my bookmarks list of places to try for a while. And also because I paid $ 13 per pad thai dish… However, I have to say the service and ambiance were great. I visited for dinner on a weekday evening and we were seated right away. It wasn’t crowded at all and I loved the decorations. Our waiters were polite and attentive and the place was very clean and homey. I just wish I liked the food more!

In a town drowning in Thai, The Regent simply does everything right. You won’t find the authenticity of a Little Serow, nor will you be overwhelmed by the décor as at Mango Tree. What you will get is delicious food, good service, a nice atmosphere, at a relatively cheap price(by DC standards that is). Started with the Curry Puffs. Chicken and potato samosas that were perfectly crisp on the outside, while light and delicate on the inside. For my entrée, I ordered the Seafood Pad Gra Prao. It was incredibly tasty; the basil garlic sauce in which the mussels, shrimp, calamari, and scallops swam was so good. Just enough heat to remind you that you were eating Thai, but not so much that you’ll be pushing the plate away and grabbing handfuls of sticky rice(I’m looking at you, Little Serow.) Throughout my meal, I kept stealing chunks of delectable basil chicken from the plate of one of my fellow diners. It too was really good.(The other person ordered something vegetarian, so none of that for me.) I will say that the service was a little iffy to start, it took a while to get a waiter to get us drinks. But we were one of those tables where the guests staggered in at different times, so I’ll give him a pass on that. Once we flagged him down for our initial drink order, he was incredibly attentive without being pesky. All in all, a great way to start the week.

The food is decent Thai. I got the pad thai with chicken and shrimp. It is an ok Thai choice if you are craving Thai in the Admo/Dupont area, but nothing worth going out of your way to try.

Absolutely wonderful experience at The Regent this evening! My sister and I arrived around 530pm and were the only two people there. We sat outside and were given water and menus immediately. The restaurant pays great attention to detail, starting with their painted wooden menus and matching receipt cases, to their initialed plates and cups. We split the herb spring rolls which were chilled and served with a thick peanut sauce. Yum! We each had a Thai iced coffee. They were very sweet, but refreshing in this muggy DC weather. My sister had the vegetarian Pad Thai and I had the Drunken Noodles with chicken. Both were great sizes and very tasty. Neither were too oily or dry. I am surprised to admit that I liked my sister’s dish more than mine! It was citrusy and the crumbled peanuts on top were a great touch. The tofu was crispy and delicious! My Drunken Noodles definitely held their own, but they could have been a bit spicier. Now the absolute best best BEST part of the meal was the Mango Sticky Rice! Its made with condensed milk and small bits of sugar. Wow. Just writing about it now is making me drool a little. The mango was fresh and the rice was moist and it was a delicious sweet snack! I can’t wait to go back to The Regent!
